Bible Work - Part 3

All right, I Wish I had time to tell you guys a Lot of the stories that come along with the instruction I'm giving you the experiences of how these things work and how powerful it is.

It's very amazing I mean literally God has has worked incredible miracles and for me and for others and he'll do it for you too.

Let's just have prayer and I'll tell you the story and then we'll dive into our subject.

Father in heaven, we thank you so much for this opportunity.

We have to learn more about you and more about giving Bible studies.

So I pray that during this session your spirit will be near our hearts.

I remember when I was an AFCOS student, 2004, and we were in Denver, Colorado.

And if you guys thought it was cold here the past few weeks, or I mean the past few days, you should have been in Colorado when I was there.

There was about 3 feet of snow on the ground.

And it was, we had to do outreach twice a week.

And it was like February, so it's getting dark at 05:00.

So we knocked on doors in the dark for about 3 hours twice a week.

And 1 particular night, we had been getting so much rejection it kind of became discouraging.

Now I promise you that it's not always that way you meet lots of wonderful people but sometimes the Lord tests us doesn't he And he caused us to depend more and more upon him.

And so, I'm getting just more and more door knocks and more and more rejections.

And my partner and I, every Thursday, we did outreach on Thursdays and Sundays.

Every Thursday night we have this tradition.

I love all ethnic foods, actually, and more so than American food.

Is there any food that's really even American?

I mean, it always comes from somewhere else, right?

That's America's contribution to the world food, right?

You slice it off the cow and slam it on the grill, right?

But man, I've had food from Rwanda, food from Zambia, I've had African food, Greek food, Hispanic food, Indian, I love it all.

So anyway, my partner and I, we had this tradition.

We would go once a week to the Thai restaurant after outreach.

And I'm cold, I'm tired, I'm hungry, and all I want to do is eat my Thai food and go home and get under the warm blanket and go to sleep.

And there were 3 more doors left on the street and I said, that's it, it's 08:00, I got my time in, I'm going home.

I had a kind of a bad attitude about it, right?

I said, Lord, I don't want to finish the street.

I don't want to eat my Thai and go to bed.

And the Lord just kept impressing me harder and harder.

So finally, after about a 10 minute argument with the Lord, I said, okay, I'll finish the street.

So I go to the first house, actually I think there were 4 houses left.

So I go to the first house and there's no 1 there.

I go to the next house, I knock on the door, the guy opens the door, I say, hi, my name is Wes and I'm with Amazing Facts and we're doing a community survey, etc., etc.

And the guy looks at me and he goes, it's after 8 o'clock, It's snowing, at this point it's snowing again.

It's freezing cold and you're knocking on my door.

And he takes the door and he goes, boom, right in my face, slams the door.

And he just calls, he said, you're a stupid idiot, and closes the door.

And so I say, man, Lord, please, I'm begging you, let me go home.

No, go to the next door, go to the next door.

And she peeped, opens like, have you ever seen like in a movie or something where somebody knocks on the door and they open that little window you don't talk about and this woman's like staring me with her with her little eye and she starts cussing at me she's like yelling at me she's like what are you doing out here it's past 08:00 and she slams the door boom second slam second rejection and I'm just like man I was almost tempted to go at that point.

Now look, I gotta, I gotta tell you that this is, that was the product of like and unrefined heart.

I mean I'm certainly not perfect now, but now I understand the importance of going all the way.

There's a text in Ecclesiastes, I believe it's chapter 11, that says, give a portion to 7, also to 8.

It says, cast your bread upon many waters, for you will find it after many days.

So spread God's Word among many people, and it says, after many days you will find it again.

In other words, the Word of God spread out to the people does not return to Him void.

You've heard that text, right, in Isaiah, okay?

So, if you were going to do something a hundred percent, how many times would you want to do it?

If you wanted to do something above a hundred percent, how many would you do, brother?

So in other words, God calls us to go above and beyond.

I had finished my time, it was time to go home, but God was asking me to go above and beyond.

I didn't understand the importance of it.

And the reason it says that is because in the text it says, for you do not know the evil that is upon the earth.

You never know what you're going to find behind the next door.
