Accept the Gift

I'll think of 1 as I'm going through the message.

In that chapter Jesus Christ has a meeting with a man called Zacchaeus.

He was not very tall he climbed into a tree to see Christ as he passed by.

Christ looked up told him come down quickly.

He came down, went to his house and in verse 10 of Luke 19 here is what Jesus said, For the Son of man is come to do 2 things.

Now if Christ came to do that it is because we cannot do that.

A sinner cannot of his own volition or hers go to Christ.

There must be movement from heaven to move that person and of course the person must cooperate with the convicting force of the Spirit of God.

Let me say again, if Christ came to seek and to save it is because you and I cannot do that for ourselves.

Let's go to John chapter 10 the very next book John 10 we read verse 10 It's a familiar verse.

I am come that they might have life and they might have it more abundantly, which means Christ came to dead people.

Go to Ephesians chapter 2 let's read from verse 1.

Read with me, and you hath he quickened who were dead in trespasses and sins.

You hath he quickened who were dead in trespasses and sins.

Now you tell me what can a dead man do for himself?

He does not even control the process of decomposition.

When Lazarus died, Jesus Christ raised him because Lazarus could not raise himself.

There is no sinner who can save himself or herself.

If you could, there would have been no need for Calvary.

With great respect, I speak to you and to me, no human being can save himself or herself.

Salvation is the work of God and God alone.

When I say God alone, yes God requires our cooperation, but the act of removing sin is the work of God.

The act of justifying someone is the work of God.

Which means everyone born into this world needs God.

Adam wasn't born into the world, he was made into it, but because of sin he had a more intense need for God he needed someone to save him.

A sinner cannot save himself which means a sinner needs a Savior.

Now, the sinner's condition is so horrific, the sinner does not even go in search of a savior.

Romans chapter 3, we read from verse 10, our subject, accept the gift is 642.

I may have to modify my phraseology and let you go beyond that.

But as it is written, come on, there is none righteous, no not 1.

There is none that, There's none that, yes, no sinner goes looking for God.

Now, they're related, if it's the right church.

But, you can seek a church and not seek God.

There is none that understandeth, unaided, the Christian, the sinner, sorry, cannot understand the plan of salvation to a degree that will allow him or her to go after the Savior or to call upon the Savior.

There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God, there's none that doeth good, no not 1.

Now when the Bible says that there's none that doeth good as good is defined by God.

Matthew 7, some people say to God or will say to God in the judgment, Lord Lord have we not what prophesied in thy name and in thy name have cast out devils and in thy name done many wonderful works those things are good in quotation marks when done outside of the power of God they are not good in the eyes of God Jesus Christ is clear in John 15 without me finish it he can do nothing.

All right let me stop embarrassing the sinner.

You read from verse 28, these are the words of Christ.

Matthew 11 reading from verse 28, Read with me if you have my version.

Come unto me all ye that labour and are heavy laden and I will give you rest.

Question for you you've got 1 chance to get the answer right.

What is the heaviest burden you and I can carry?

And chapter 53 is the number 1 chapter in the Old Testament that speaks about Christ.
