Well, a pleasant good evening to you again.

And it's wonderful to see such a good group of you again tonight.

And I'm very excited about our message for this evening, where we are going to take a look at the big picture of Revelation.

So before we do that, I would just like to have a brief word of prayer and we will get right into our message.

Father in Heaven, we thank You for bringing us here this evening.

I pray that Jesus Christ would be lifted up and that we would be convicted of the message for our time and that we would make changes in our lives to fit according to the time in which we live in.

So be with me now, may Christ be lifted up, may I be lost sight of, and may you bless each 1 of us here this evening.

Alright, well last night we did an overview of the book of Daniel, and we saw that there are 4 prophetic visions in Daniel which describe the same kingdoms, and at the end of those 4 visions, at the end of the first 1 you have the second coming with the stone striking the image.

At the end of the fourth 1, you have Michael standing up, which is at the close of probation, just before Jesus comes.

But in the middle 2 visions you have the beginning of the judgment and the beginning of the cleansing of the sanctuary which we saw began in 1844 which shows us that in order to get to the Second Coming after the end of the 4 kingdoms, there must be a judgment and a cleansing of a sanctuary that will usher in the Second Coming of Jesus.

And when Christ has a cleansed sanctuary, He will come back a second time.

So in a nutshell, that's what we studied last night.

Now tonight we are going to study the book of Revelation and we are going to see some of the big picture themes in this book as well.

As I did last night, I'm going to read just a couple of quotes from the book Testimonies to Ministers and Gospel Workers, which describes the importance of the book of Revelation.

Ellen White says, the things revealed to Daniel were afterward complemented by the revelation made to John on the Isle of Patmos.

Revelation complements the book of Daniel.

So what we saw last night will be complemented by the book of Revelation, which gives more detail.

And now, 1 other quote, and then we'll get right into our message.

This is page 116 of Testimonies to Ministers.

The minds of many, so that they have been glad of any excuse for not making revelation their study.

But Christ, through His servant John, has here declared what shall be in the last days, and he says, Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein.

So there is a special blessing for those who not only read this prophecy, who not only hear it, but who keep the words of this prophecy.

You see, as God's last day people, we are intended by God to have a special understanding of this book so that we will live our lives accordingly in preparation for Jesus to come.

And inspiration tells us there is a special blessing when we study and keep the words of this book.

So that's what we're going to look at tonight.

You know when you look at the book of Revelation just as you look at the name of the book of Daniel, the name itself is descriptive of what the book is about.

Now, when we look at our Bibles, we'll see, okay, I'm in the book of Revelation, and you'll see Revelation 1, 2, 3, and on, and that's what you think of.

But you know, Revelation 1, verse 1, specifically says the revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him to show unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass.

Really, the title of this book should be The Revelation of Jesus Christ.

So if you come away from your study of the book of Revelation and you haven't seen Jesus, that might just suggest that you aren't studying the book correctly.

Again, this book is much more than about beasts and horns.

This book is the revelation of Jesus Christ.

Now, how does the book of Revelation reveal Jesus Christ to us in these last days?

When we look at the book of Revelation we see that it has some similarities to the book of Daniel, but it also has a slightly different structure.

And it's interesting, if you come to Revelation chapter 1, verse 5, Revelation chapter 1, verse 5, starts to reveal more to us about Jesus Christ.

Here we read, And from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, and the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth unto him that loved us and washed us from our sins in his own blood." Now you can see 4 descriptive titles of Jesus here in this verse.

He's the faithful witness, He's the first begotten of the dead.

He's the prince of the kings of the earth, and because he washes from our sins in his own blood, that also makes him our Savior.

Specifically, the first 3 titles are used by Jesus Christ to reveal himself in the book of Revelation as we move forward.

And this is where things get interesting to me.

In the book of Revelation you have in the first half of the book what we call 3 sevens.

You've all heard of the 7 churches, seals, and trumpets?

Okay, now what is fascinating is that in the 3 titles in verse 5 of chapter 1, you get an idea of what Jesus is doing in each 1 of those instances.

For example, in the 7 churches, when you come to the last church, the Laodicean church, the message to them starts off in Revelation chapter 3, verse 14, from the faithful and true witness, who is Jesus Christ.

So Jesus is the faithful and true witness in the 7 churches.

Then when you come to the 7 seals, you find that the 7 seals describe many martyrs for God.

And so they have the promise that, look, Jesus was raised from the dead.

He's the first begotten of the dead, so that even though you died because Jesus was resurrected, you have the promise of being resurrected.

And then when you come to the 7 trumpets, you see that Jesus is the Prince of the kings of the earth, because when the seventh trumpet sounds in Revelation 11, v.

15, we read that the kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever.

Or in other words, he is the prince of the kings of this earth.

So in the 7 churches, in the 7 seals, and in the 7 trumpets, Jesus Christ is revealing himself.

He is the faithful witness telling the churches of their true condition.

He's the first begotten of the dead, telling those who have been martyrs for the faith, don't worry, I was resurrected and you will be too.

And in the 7 trumpets, as you see the kingdoms of this earth striving for supremacy, Christ says, hey, when it's all said and done, I am King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

Now that's the first layer of these 3 sevens that we're looking at.

The next thing that we see, and this is really looking specifically at the first half of the book of Revelation, is we see that, yes, these 3 sevens, the 7 churches, the 7 seals, and the 7 trumpets.

They describe what's happening here on this earth during 7 periods of history.

But they also describe what Jesus is doing in the sanctuary in heaven.

So the sanctuary message, which is described in Daniel 8, 14, is also seen in the book of Revelation.

Specifically, in Revelation 1, verse 13, you see Jesus walking in the midst of the 7 candlesticks.

Now the candlesticks, each 1 of them, are describing 1 of the 7 churches.

Now when you look at the sanctuary message, and how many of you have studied the articles in the sanctuary?

So you have the outer court where the sacrifice took place, and then in the holy place there were 3 articles, right?

The 7 candlesticks, the table of shewbread, and the altar of incense.

And then in the most holy place, you have the Ark of the Covenant.

Well, here we find at the beginning of the 7 churches, Jesus is walking in the midst of the candlestick.

So where does that place him in the sanctuary?

And then in Revelation 4, which is right before the 7 seals, or it's the introduction to the 7 seals, when you look in Revelation chapter 4, verse 5, it says, And out of the throne proceeded lightnings and thunderings and voices, and there were 7 lamps of fire before the throne.

So as you come to the 7 seals, where do we find Jesus in the sanctuary?

Then as you come to the beginning of the trumpets in Revelation chapter 8, notice verse 3 it says, and another angel came and stood at the altar having a golden censer and there was given unto him much incense that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.

So when you come to the beginning of the 7 trumpets, where is Jesus in heaven?

But when you come to the end of the 7 trumpets in Revelation 11, verse 19, notice what happens.

Revelation 11, verse 19, and we read, And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament, and there were lightnings and voices and thunderings and an earthquake and great hail.

Now, what do you see when the temple of God was open in heaven?

And by the way, the temple of God would represent the heavenly sanctuary.

So, when it was open, And this is when the seventh trumpet is sounding, what do you see in the sanctuary in heaven?

So when we come to the sounding of the seventh trumpet, where does that place us in history?

That places us in history when Jesus went to the most holy place at the beginning of the cleansing of the sanctuary, which we saw last night, began in 1844.

So when you look at the first half of the book of Revelation, Jesus in heaven is in the holy place as our high priest.

But then, when the seventh trumpet sounds, he goes into the most holy place, and that tells us that that began in 1844.
