Innovation and the Business of Youth

Okay, now first off, my name is Kelly, and I'd love to learn every 1 of your names here someday.

I don't know if I can do that today, but my name is Kelly, and what's that?

It probably wouldn't take, it might take a few hours but I bet we could do it.

Yeah, I live in Montana, way up north and when I left this morning, it was snowing.

So it's pretty nice to be down here with all of you guys.

So Montana is a big state just like Texas but we actually have less than a million people there.

But we have a lot of young people just like you.

Okay, so I will tell you first that I had to change up a few things here on my way when I found out who was going to be here.

So we're going to go through this and I'm going to skip a few things and then I added a bunch of things.

But I wanted to share with you first a little bit about what we're talking about.

First we're going to be talking about innovation.

I think we've got mostly the 10 to 14 age range here.

There's a few that didn't, that wouldn't have made the cut, but we definitely want them to make the cut.

So we're gonna talk today about innovation in business, but it's called the business of youth.

Okay, so can anybody think of another word for innovation?

Okay, innovation is when you create things and you dream about things and you think things up.

I'm going to tell you that every 1 of you here today is an innovator.

And it means Somebody who thinks something, who has a thought, and they act on it, and they create something out of it.

Okay, now, do you know what the Bible says in Genesis chapter 1?

God created, okay, and then it goes on, and it says that he created somebody in his image Adam okay, so if Adam was created by the way is anyone here related to Adam We should all raise our hands there guys.

So if Adam was created in the image of God and God is a creator then what was Adam?

He's he has a very creative mind didn't he?

Okay now if you're related to Adam then what do you have?

So if you were created in the image of God, then You also have a creative mind.

So you are a creator and that's what our word here, this is what we're talking about today.

Now the second word we're talking about up there is business.

Owning a store, good, good, good guys, yeah.

Something you have that you take care of, you're busy with it.

Okay, something that you're making a profit out of.

So business is something, you guys all had really good answers.

It's something that you're going to engage your mind and your time and your resources and everything in.

Now I own a bunch of businesses and you know what?

And when I was little, when I was young like you, I didn't realize how important business was.

I didn't realize that I was engaged in business when I was your age.

What I want to talk about today, We've already established that we all have creative minds, that we are all innovators by the way we're created from the 1 we're created from.

What I want to talk about today is what your business is.

Would you guys be surprised if I told you that you are all in business today?

Now that might not mean that you actually own a business, but I'm gonna tell you that you are in business, whether you realize it or not.

What I want to do today is I want to talk through that, and I want to help us to think about how we can grow into the future so that we can continue this business, because you know what?

1 day in heaven, how many of you believe that heaven is close to us today?

Would you believe me if I told you that for all eternity, you're gonna be innovating and doing business in heaven and I can tell you business can be very exciting it can be very dangerous as well but I'm gonna I'm gonna take you on a little journey I had to change a few things this morning and I'm gonna take you on a little journey because we're gonna be talking about what your business is today.

And what the reason, I'm going to take you back into some of my life, and the reason I'm doing this, I'm doing this today, is because I want to help you understand something that nobody told me.

Do you know when I was little, I didn't even know that there was a God.

I didn't believe, I didn't have the foundation that you do.

And nobody told me what was really happening in my life.

But I'm grateful somebody told me down the road and I'm hoping that I get to share some of my experience with you now.

So I'm gonna go through quickly here and I'm going to Just zip through.

There's some telltale signs if you know the country.
