Hi friends, I'm Steve Dickman from Outpost Centers International and we're bringing you an update for the work that's happening in Turkey and attempt to get some work in Syria as well. The results of the earthquake, the aftermath of the earthquake is still going on. A lot of lives have been impacted and your support for this project has been really helping these people. We have hilde with us. He's been on the ground in Turkey. Hildy, tell us what Advent Relief is doing there and what the opportunities are and what for the future. Thank you, Steve. So I was there and I visited a few of the cities that they were, most of them, they are completely destroyed and the need of, there is a lot of needs. Not only healthcare, but there is, the need is huge, but the need for healthcare, that it's our, our field, it's huge. And we are in the process to get to container mobile clinics inside of the country. They are supposed to get there in the next couple of weeks, we'll set up its 20 foot container. We'll set up two of these units around. The city's more affected at the moment. Our biggest need is to have medical volunteers, doctors, nurses, paramedics, and also we need to fill up that mobile clinics with medical consumables. And with that, it's what the ne, the biggest need we see now because the demand, it's so big for consumables that it's difficult to have that locally in the cities around. We need to bring from other cities apart from where the earthquake happen. And we are hoping that we'll be operating there between six months to one year that it's our initial plan and if God opens the way, we may continue there over than one month, then one year. And yeah, that is our plan so far and we hope that in, in a couple of weeks we'll be able to be up and running And serving these families. Thank you Hilde, so much for your work there and exploring the situation and finding those opportunities to establish those mobile medical clinics. Friends. And of course, course the supplies needed to stock these units and to operate that. Your generosity will make that happen. I have Daryl on the line with us from Living Waters International. Daryl, talk to us about what's happening there and where we're at in the process of getting some clean water happening, some purified water happening that, Yeah, thanks Steve. And I want to thank all those who have worked so hard to help this project get off the ground. Living Waters has a team of five that are gonna be deploying on February 23 directly to Kyle Ram Mal. We have raised about 70% of our initial funding, so we're still about $20,000 short and that is our primary need to raise that between now and Wednesday the 22nd of February. Some really cool things have happened that just even today some doors are starting to look like they could be opening up to get some units into Syria. We have 15 units going to Turkey, but if we were able to get some units into Syria, this would be absolutely huge. Five more units would be an additional $25,000. So when we get our initial funding done for the 15 to Turkey, we will be asking if we have an overflow that we can take for $25,000, we'll give five units potentially into Syria and we are ready to roll. The problem is we've gotta make decisions and the next couple of days. So if you are able to, to help in some way to get this project funded, we would thank you so much and thank you for your time and your support. Thank you Darrell. It's exciting to see how the Lord has opened doors and this project is moving forward step by step. There's going to be some clean water in Turkey and we hope in Syria by God's blessing and the medical teams on the ground there in Turkey helping out. This is a long-term problem, not a short-term problem. I'm glad to hear the advent relief is committed to the long-term and what's happening there. We have Corey with us here this evening as well. Corey has been on the ground in Turkey at the front lines doing search and rescue. Corey, tell us how did that go and how did the Lord open doors for you and get you on the front lines there? One miracle after another brother, our team responded as fast as we could, which on a realistic level means that you don't have all your ducks in a row. It just means that you're gonna go in faith to trust him, that God's gonna open up the doors with you. For us, that happened on the flight there. There was a man that had a medical emergency. Martine was able to, to render the assistance. He, And through that, some of the other passengers realized that we were a rescue team and kinda were like, Hey, are you guys going up to do disaster response for the earthquakes? They saw our search dogs there with the vest and stuff and they said, yes we are. And they said, oh, praise the Lord. He said, I've been, we met this man, we'll call him Ty. I said, I've been looking for someone to help me find my mother-in-law in the city of a tie, H a t a Y. And it's a city of about 2 million people. And he said, I'm flying back. He's a professional in the oil industry and he knows a little bit about thermal imaging And the kinds of technology you might use to find someone. And so he was looking for those kinds of resources and he says, you and here you are, you're on the plane with me, would you come? And he said, we need somewhere to go and we would love to work with the local. Yes. And he said, praise God, I'm gonna tell my wife all about it. And from the beginning he was very warm and he knew we were Christians. Yeah, he comes from a Muslim background, but he was just thankful to have somebody to work with. And the grace of God, our search dogs were able to come. It didn't look like they could at first, but God opened the doors where our training partner and sponsor for that ground zero Wanted to send the dogs. So we were able to send three instead of just one. And we got to the airport there in Stan Bull. And Turkish Airlines, I believe flew us for free over to a donna in the end. It was actually the US military that flew US Inn on the pair of black hawks. We got dropped off right in the affected area. A tie again, city of about 2 million. A lot of the city lives in apartment complexes that are made of concrete. A lot of those are older, not necessarily built to withstand earthquakes. So a lot of them would fall and crumble. And oftentimes that would be the, the lower couple of floors if the whole building didn't fall. So there was a lot of people trapped in basements and in their rooms and stuff in voids. Corey, I know you spent about a week out there. What were the conditions like on the front lines? Did you have a hotel to stay in or how did you survive? The locals were just awesome. We stayed one night the first night at an afad can camp. That's the Turkish government equivalent of United States fema. We stayed there and that was all right. But it was a constant coming and going. It was a lot pace of a lot of activity and from the start, our dogs were in high demand. You walk half a block and you'll get three requests of people coming saying, Hey, my mother, my brother, my child we believe is in this building. Could you help us find them? It's pretty tough, honestly, because you don't know if they're alive or, or not off. Our dogs are, are trained to find people whether they're alive or deceased, but it's a valuable service for the locals because they wanna know if someone's in the building or not. In the Muslim faith tradition, it's very important for them to have the bodies of their loved ones. So that's still very a service to them. Of course, we wanna find people alive and on the rescue side of things. That's what we would be doing. The second day we were there, which was Friday, our dogs, our dogs hit on a scent in this five story building, which was now a three story building. But the lower two floors had collapsed, had just pulled three living people out of this building and, And we knew people, other people might be in there too. Other families were reported there, loved ones were still in this building. And the thermal imaging crew came by. The Turkish military had a thermal imaging team and some of the other country rescue teams did as well. So we scanned the building with those and it showed that there was two, maybe three people alive. Once you have that situation, you are in a race against the clock. We're already how many days? About four or five days into it. At that point, whoever is might be there, the clock is ticking for them. And so we started working around the clock. God provided everything we needed and we slept in the street with the locals and finally answering the question and we, we slept in the street with them. They took care of us. They fed us, gave us water. The soldiers, they assigned two soldiers to be our protective escorts, essentially to make sure that we were well taken care of. The locals said it was too dangerous for us on the streets at night. Once you find someone in the building, there's not time to go somewhere else and come back. So we just worked around the clock. We would take short little napt breaks and get back on it. God took care of us to the extent that I never opened my wallet once I, I will say it, this was probably the most dangerous, easily, the most dangerous response I've ever done. After a while of working out there was a 4.8 tremor and that'll get you moving. We all jumped out of the building, we're working one story up. We all jumped outta the window. Everyone jumped into the rubble piles below. Nobody was hurt on that. From then on, we put mattresses down on the street level beneath the window so we could make a quick exit and increase our, our safety margins at least a little bit. By the end of five days, we had dug tunnels and made holes in those floors. To the extent that I don't, I'm not even sure where they could be. We were pretty much exhausted. We checked coming up through the basement, but the basement was not collapsed, but a lot of the floors were coming down, like falling into the basement. And as you were would come back and check, you'd see another floor that had fallen down into the basement. And it was a dynamic situation where you wouldn't wanna be In the basement when that happened. Who God protected us. Corey, I know while we were talking earlier, you mentioned about one young man who had been rescued and tell us a little bit about that story of how he felt he survived and his experience. There was a young boy that was finally extricated and rescued from one of these collapsed buildings and they asked him, how did you survive? And he said, there was a man that came by in white and he would feed me and give me water. Ever so often, God is revealing himself to everyone of the world. God is showing himself and needs to be understood that he's the one that's, that makes this work. He's the one that loved us while we were yet sinners and rebellion against him. The Lord's at work all over the world and especially in these zones where people are really hurting right now. We serve a God who is compassionate and loving and kind. And he uses people though friends, he may use you to give a hand even in this situation in Turkey and Syria. And again, thank you Corey for sharing with us a God's blessing on you and your team.
