Darkness Before Dawn

I want to invite you to bow your heads with me as we pray.

Lord, we're about to open your word again and we don't dare do so without asking that you guide us and give us wisdom.

That you please make plain your words, take my words and rearrange them to fit your purpose.

And may your spirit speak to all of our hearts in Jesus' name, Amen.

If we talk about it now, He can be with us then.

The gift of prophecy, I'm talking about a prophetic understanding of last day events is a gift from God.

It's a gift that He's given us so that when the events unfold, we will have a calm, a peace of knowing, yeah, that's exactly how he said it would be.

And we will therefore have a confidence of knowing that he will go ahead of us and prepare a way.

He says, yeah, around the corner up there, you're going to find this and then you're going to see this." And that gives you calm.

It tells you that He's been there before you.

And so this morning, I want to go back to that third angel just briefly.

Last night we looked at the fact that here's the patience of the saints, here are they who keep the commandments of God and have the faith of Jesus.

And then we looked at how Satan is seeking to attack those 2 principles.

He's seeking to attack this experience of God's people by what?

Attacking God's law, specifically with changing the Sabbath to Sunday.

And of course, he tramples the law completely, but still his sign, his mark, if you will, is to attack God's Holy Sabbath.

Because that is the sign that we have this relationship, this rest with God, this experience of righteousness by faith.

But he also attacks through the testimony of Jesus there in Revelation 12, 17, which we noted is the spirit of prophecy, which reminds us that not only will it be through Sunday sacredness or his attempt to do so, but it will be through the immortality of the soul.

These 2 teachings will do their baleful work in the last days because The second opens the door to spiritualism.

And when you open the door to spiritualism, then you become excited by experience and senses and so forth and you begin to hear from another spirit instead of the spirit of God, which is the 1 that places Christ in you, the hope of glory.

Satan knows right where to go and he is here to attack the patience of the saints, which is another way of saying the endurance of the saints.

He's trying to break you and so he's going to attack on these 2 points.

The commandments, that notion that my experience of Christ and his blessings is expressed through him being in me so that his law is written on my heart so that when carrying out His will, I am but carrying out my own, what, impulses.

That is, as Paul says in 1 Corinthians 1.31, he who glories, what, let him glory in the Lord, because Christ became unto us justification, sanctification, and redemption.

He takes care of your past, He takes care of your present, He takes care of your future.

You just have to hand the keys to Him, the keys to your heart every single day.

Okay, so that is the good news of the 3 angels message.

LLY says it's righteousness by faith in verity.

And we looked at the sign last night of God because that's the antithesis of what the mark is.

And I'd rather focus on the positive last night, but today we're going to look at a little bit more about the mark.

We're going to look at the mark a little bit more specifically, But just to remind you, the seal of God, His sign, which is the opposite of the mark, is what we saw there in Exodus 33 and 34 where Christ said, let me see your...

I mean, Moses said, let me see your glory to Jesus, remember?

And when He revealed His glory, what did He do?

He gave Him His law and He proclaimed His name.

So that in Revelation 14, verses 1 and 2, we see that the name of God is where?

Not just on the hands, it's in their foreheads, because if God has your heart, He's got your hands.

And so this is what Christ's sign or seal is, and we celebrate in the Sabbath rest, of which Hebrews chapter 4 describes this relationship.

Now I'm going to take you to Revelation 13 briefly.

Well, I told you to go to third angel's message.

Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, if anyone worships the beast, okay, make a note, it involves worship, and we talked about worship Thursday afternoon or Thursday morning and that's expressed through what?

That's the highest form of worship is obeying Christ, right?

So but this is, if anyone worships the beast and his image and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God.

Babylon has its wine, God has his, right?

Which is poured out full strength into the cup of his indignation.

He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the lamb.

It's a terrible fate for those who take the mark.

The smoke of their torment is since forever and they have no rest day or night.

Who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name.

They who keep the commandments and have the faith of Jesus.

In fact, chapter 12 through 14 sort of paints this big picture of the last end time scenario of which Daniel 11, 40 to 45 depicts, which we're about to go to.

But first, I want you to notice again chapter 13 and verse 3.

John is described as this beast that's coming up out of the sea.

It's a different beast, but it's A beast that is given its power from the dragon, right?

And so it receives its power from the dragon and it's got the characteristics of these beasts that we read about in Daniel 7.

Now notice verse 3, I saw 1 of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded and his deadly wound was healed And all the world marveled and followed the beast.

So hear this carefully, John sees this beast, we're gonna study 13 more tonight.

But he sees this beast and what I just want you to notice is that when the wound is healed, what happens?

How much of the world worships the beast?

Is all the world worshiping the beast today?

We've got atheists, we've got Hindus, we've got Buddhists, we've got lots of people, Muslims don't care anything about worshiping a beast, the papacy.

Now, I just want to say as we turn to Daniel 11, this is not an easy passage.

And I am not going to suggest that I'm an authority on this.

I've listened to a series of presentations, I'll share that with you more later, but Daniel 11 has thus become much, in my estimation, much easier to explain.

And I'm speaking with regards to verses 40 to 45.

Again, I say this with, you try it on, okay?
