I Can’t Hear You, God

Father in heaven this morning We thank you that we can come together and that we can hear your word And we ask that as the word is spoken that you will Take control of my lips my thoughts and that they may speak what these young people need to hear today.

There's a story that's told, 1 of my favorite stories is, actually I have 2 favorite stories, trying to decide which 1 to tell you.

Now, what I wanted to find out from you is, You guys live around here in Ohio.

Are any of you or your parents members at Costco or Sam's?

Which has more, Walmart or, I mean, what's the biggest place you've been to with the number of checkouts?

And so she had prayed, she had what the equivalent was, was 20 crusados, which is about 20 cents worth.

And you have no money and you have no resources?

Just raise your hand, stand up, take a number.

She told the children I'm going to pray, don't bother me while I'm praying.

Now this is critical to understand because if you pray and you want answers and the Lord says, how would the Lord say to you?

And how will you know what he sounds like?

I mean, if I called you up on your phone, and I didn't say my name, and my caller ID was blocked, would you know who I am?

You wouldn't have any clue as to who I am.

You might go on like normal, Hi, how are you doing?

After a few minutes of polite conversation, you might say finally the question, Who are you?

She was very quick to discern God's voice.

God's voice told her to go down to a store named Eldorado's and to buy 3 months worth of groceries.

This is a true story that was reported to a missionary in Brazil.

It was in the week of prayer pamphlet that came out of the General Conference.

She went to Eldorado's to buy 3 months worth of groceries.

Imagine if you had to buy 3 months worth of groceries.

I mean, you go to, do they have Aldi's around here?

Yeah, Aldi's you get, you know, their shopping carts are pretty good size.

Some of these little like dollar general stores, you know, you have this little eency little weency shopping cart.

Then you go to Walmart and it gets a little bit bigger, then you go to Sam's and Costco, it's like, you can put the whole family there.

Now you can imagine, the First month, filled up 1 cart.

She's pushing, kind of pushing 2 carts, pulling 1 cart, trying to get to the checkout.

And God specifically told her to go to, what do you think God's favorite number is?

God told her to go to checkout stand number 7.

And wouldn't you know, the moment she steps up to the lady and says, sorry, I'm going to lunch, shuts her light off.

And she says, you can go to number 6, you can go to number 8, but I'm closed.

What would you do if God said, go to number 7, and all of a sudden number 7 got closed?

Obedient, because that's what God said, go to number 7.

When she know the lady came back and she was astonished.

Started putting stuff on the conveyor, started checking it out, started scanning it 1 by 1, started going through.

This lady is thinking, OK, how many cents do I have?

The lady doesn't even stress out because her faith and trust is in the Lord.

The cashier says this is how much it's going to be.

And just as she finished that sentence, over the loud public address system of Eldorado's, a voice comes through the speaker.

Today is our seventh anniversary and the person at checkout stand number 7 gets their groceries free.
