To the Glory of God

And God spake all these words, saying, I am the Lord thy God, which hath brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

Thou shalt not make unto thee any griven image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth, thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them.

For I, the Lord thy God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me, and shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me and keep my commandments.

Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in vain.

Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy.

6 days shalt thou labor and do all thy work, but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord thy God.

In it thou shalt not do any work, thou nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates.

For in 6 days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day.

Wherefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it.

Honor thy father and thy mother, that thy days may be long upon the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee.

Thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not commit adultery, thou shalt not steal, thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor anything that is thy neighbor's.

His mercy is everlasting and his truth endureth to all generations.

I am personally delighted to be with you and I thank God for the high honor of speaking for him and the associated honor of speaking to those who love God and who love His Word.

And I hope I'm correct in saying that's you.

I returned from Hawaii, a revival over there, on Wednesday morning, 5.30, and I left on Thursday afternoon to come to be with you.

Surely that must evidence the fact that I am fond of this part of the world, which I am.

I believe in what Advent Hope does, which I do.

And I have some very, very precious friends in this part of the world, which I have.

Is there anyone present tonight who is not a Seventh-day Adventist?

Would you mind telling us who invited you?

May the Lord bless your life in every possible way.

Let me offer special prayer for Brother Madrid, as I like to do for guests.

Father in heaven, thank you for the presence of your son whom you love, Brother Madrid.

I ask you now, dear God, in the name of Jesus Christ, bless his life, Provide his needs.

Bless him so much, dear God, that wherever he goes, he is a blessing to others.

But Father, ultimately and finally, usher him into your kingdom when you come.

Our subject this evening, to the glory of God.

Always encouraging to see familiar faces still faithful to God.

The Bible says, he that endureth, finish it for me, to the end, the same, yes, shall be saved.

So I want you to know I'm delighted that those of you whom I know are still walking with God.

It takes strength from above to do that because the enemy does everything he can to turn us aside and from time to time I'm sure you are shocked as I am when we learn of this person or that person who has chosen to leave God.

And so thank you for walking steadfastly with God.

Anything other than that is surely suicidal.

I'll ask you to do 3 little favors for me.

It is, I can't read that clock very well.

First prayer if I ask is that you turn these off if you're not using them.

If it is functioning as a Bible, which it is not, then please make sure the sound is turned down.

And the reason for that request is that we must show reverence for God.

The fact that we are in an age of online worship does not dilute the holiness of God.

YouTube, Facebook, Zoom, do not make God less holy.

Favour number 2, while I'm speaking pray for me and say Lord put your words in that man's mouth.

Jeremiah chapter 1 verse 9, Then the Lord put forth his hand and touched my mouth and the Lord said unto me, Behold I have put my words in thy mouth and as surely as God lives I want to speak God's words not mine.

So I will try to the best of my ability to keep my opinions, which I love very much, to myself.

And 1 example of that is Jeremiah 12, verse 5.

It's a well-known verse, if thou hast run with the footmen, you know that verse?

Weary thee, keep going, how then canst thou contend, come on, with the horses?

God is saying use this, your noggin, your head, your brains.

If you cannot keep up with a man, How do you intend to keep up with the horse?

The religion of Christ requires common sense.

A Warranty For Eternity

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.

My help cometh from the Lord which made heaven and earth.

Behold he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber nor sleep.

The Lord is thy keeper, the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand.

The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.

The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil, He shall preserve thy soul.

The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth and even forevermore." Happy Sabbath everyone.

His mercy is everlasting and His truth endureth to all generations.

I thank God for the high honor of speaking for him.

I will do all in my limited power to represent him effectively and I can do that no better than by making sure I keep my opinions to myself and only give you thus saith the Lord.

Time is of the essence so I must move on.

Before I get into the message, please, if you're not using 1 of these as a Bible, Please turn it off.

Pretend you're in a courtroom in the presence of an earthly judge.

You are in the presence of the judge of all the earth.

If when you're in the army and the army tells the Marines you've got to meet at 10 o'clock, what time will the Marines be there?

The general is coming in, will they be chatting and sitting quietly?

The religion of Christ has a large component called Discipline.

Let me tell you something, so many of you are students, it is more valuable to have discipline than genius.

Favor number 2, while I'm speaking, pray for me and say, Lord, Put your words in that man's mouth.

While I was meditating in the hallway, a lady, a lovely lady came to me and she said, what shall I pray for you?

And I said, ask God to put his words in my mouth.

My lovely sister wherever you are, may the Lord bless you beyond your expectation.

Ask God to put his words in my mouth, Jeremiah 1 verse 9, then the Lord put forth his hand and touched my mouth.

And the Lord said unto me, Behold, I have put my words in thy mouth.

And favor number 3, think, Isaiah 1, 18, what does that say?

Come now, let us reason together, saith the Lord.

Father in heaven, I ask you in the name of Jesus Christ to have mercy upon me.

I ask you, Lord, earnestly, in the name of Jesus Christ, a name you never resist.

The Man in the Shadows

The man who attempts to keep the requirements, the commandments of God, from a sense of obligation merely because he's required to do so will never enter into the joy of obedience.

When the requirements of God are accounted a burden, because they cut across human inclination, we may know that the life is not a Christian life.

True obedience is the outworking of a principle within.

It springs from the love of righteousness, the love of the law of God.

The essence of all righteousness is loyalty to our Redeemer.

This will lead us to do right because it is right, because right doing is pleasing to God.

Christ Object Lessons, page 97, paragraph 3.

I, after speaking this morning, I rushed to the place where I'm staying and I conducted a Q&A for a church in New York City.

We had a lovely time and the subject was faith and works and how those 2 interact and the significance of those 2 in the life of the believer and I believe the Lord blessed us as we dealt with that very very central and significant subject faith and works.

It's a ministry based in New York City, run by a medical student, young lady, and from time to time, almost once a month, she has me on.

She also has Doug Batchelor and other speakers.

Well, since you stressed briefly, I'll honor your request.

Works is merely the outward evidence of a genuine faith.

If you have faith it must express itself.

In the New Testament the 2 major authorities on faith and works are Paul and James.

Paul, some people put the 2 against each other, but they're not.

They work perfectly together as all Bible writers do.

Paul is stressing justification by faith, that immediate act, As in the case of the publican who said, God be merciful to me a sinner.

And Jesus said that man went down to his house justified.

James is stressing what kind of life does a justified person live?

Where are the works to give evidence that he's truly or she's truly justified?

And so James says a justified person should have evidence.

And so James and Paul are not at each other's throats.

Paul is stressing the instant event when someone is declared just by God.

James is saying that person now has to live a certain life, and that life is really the works that are produced by a genuine faith.

Jesus had works and we also must have works.

The Bible says, for by grace are ye saved through faith And that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God, not of works, lest any man should boast.

But verse 10 says, for we are his workmanship created unto good works.

Titus chapter 2 verse 14, who gave himself for our sins that He may redeem us from all iniquity and purify unto Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

Those are things ordained by God from the beginning that we should walk in them, Ephesians chapter 2 verse 10.

Alright so if there are no works, the faith is dead.

And ultimately while we're saved by faith, we're judged by works.

So it's the works that determine the quality of the faith.

Many years ago I was in Australia, God bless Australia, Preaching in an amphitheater similar to, not like this, well similar to this.

I was on a stage and there's the pit area where the orchestra would normally be.

And I was speaking a Sabbath morning, the phone of somebody rang.

And I thought the person was scrambled to turn it off.

But the lady took the phone out of her bag and conducted a conversation right under my nose in the presence of God.

I didn't rebuke her because I wasn't convicted to.

But as I said this morning, God deserves reverence.

God has killed people for being irreverent.

God doesn't like to kill even though the life he takes is his.

Let me show you something from the Bible.

God makes some charges and the people say, what do you mean?

He makes a charge, what do you mean, who, us?

In chapter 1, verse 8, God is complaining because they're offering him sick and diseased animals as sacrifices instead of perfect and without blemish.

Now here's what God says to the Israelites, Malachi 1, do you have verse 8?

And this is not my presentation, just came to me.

Let me pray, Father, grant me a measure of your spirit as I make this brief presentation.

And if he offered the blind for sacrifice, is it not evil?

And if he offered the lame And the sick, is it not evil?

Will he be pleased with thee or accept thy persons, saith the Lord of hosts.

God is saying, what you offer to me, try offering it to someone with earthly authority.

Now I have universal authority, and you bring that to me.

You could not bring it to your governor he would consider it a disrespectful act Why are you bringing it to me?

God can say, you do not chat in the presence of earthly judges.

You don't text in the presence of earthly judges.

If you're not using 1 of these, please turn off the thing.

I love technology, but it has a dark side.

Fever number 2, while I'm speaking, pray for me and say, Lord, put your words in that man's mouth.

Jeremiah chapter 1, verse 9, Then the Lord put forth his hand, that's divine, and touched my mouth, that's earthly.

And the Lord divine said unto me earthly behold I divine have put my words divine in thy mouth earthly.

Now we understand we have this treasure where in earthen vessels And so I want God really to put his words in my, the carnal nature loves to express its opinions.

And I have the carnal nature, don't tell anyone but I have it.

1 of the dangers of preaching is that you think you're glorifying God and you're glorifying yourself.

Because you and I don't truly know our motives.

And so I want just to give you God's words.
