The Kingdom Lost: Spiritualism Goes Mainstream

I've been hearing some great messages today.

I've enjoyed, even though I've been in the room, the way this place is designed, the sound travels into the room, so I've been able to hear some really good messages today myself.

And I was thinking when I go home I need to restudy the latrine.

And that last message was powerful because I like what you said.

It motivates us to actually go out and do God's will.

And some in our church have forgotten that.

We want to preach everyone into the kingdom.

We don't want to love people into the kingdom.

And that's something that we're going to have to do because the world is such a terrible place.

So I appreciated the messages of the other speakers.

And I want to finish today with this talk, which is called the Kingdom Lost, which is really the second part, in a sense, of the message I brought this morning.

So let us pray, and then we'll go right into this.

Father God, we thank you, Lord, for this opportunity to be with you on this Sabbath day, Lord, and to be together in fellowship on this, your holy Sabbath day.

Now Lord, just humble me Lord, and bring a word from the throne room of grace, a word of warning Lord, and let it Lord be presented in such a way that you are pleased and received so that we are encouraged to do your will.

Lord, just run the enemy out of this place and fill this place with your Holy Ghost.

So, We'll start at 1 Samuel 28 for this session and the verses are on here for speed's sake.

And 1 Samuel 28 verse 3 says, Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented and buried him in Ramah, and even in his own city.

And Saul had put away those that had familiar spirits and the wizards out of the land.

And the Philistines gathered themselves together and came and pitched in Shunem, and Saul gathered all Israel together and they pitched in Gilboa.

And when Saul saw the host of the Philistines, he was afraid.

Now Saul had this problem with being afraid easily.

He really wasn't shown to be too brave a man in that story either.

But here he is afraid and the Bible says, and his heart greatly trembled.

And when Saul inquired of the Lord, the Lord answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets." God was done with Saul as we talked about this morning.

And when Saul got into this trouble and he wanted God to come help him, God would not answer him.

Verse 7 says, "'Then said Saul unto his servants, seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I might go to her and inquire of her.

And his servants said unto him, behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor.

Now Saul was supposed to put all of them out of the kingdom, right?

It's kind of interesting that he not only does he ask them to find him such a woman, such a woman still exists.

This is typical sometimes of even how the church is.

We say we want certain things out of the church, but if you need it and you ask you can still find it.

So it goes on, it says in verse 8, And Saul disguised himself and put on other raiment, and he went, and 2 men went with him.

And they came to the woman by night, and he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me him up, whom I shall name unto thee.

He knows to ask for it by a familiar spirit.

And the woman said unto him, behold thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those that have a familiar spirit, and the wizards out of the land.

Wherefore then layest thou a snare for my life to cause me to die.

The woman understood that doing what she did was punishable by death.

So they have a police go out and sell drugs, and then you go to buy the drugs, and they do what?

They were setting her up to get rid of the rest of the witches.

And Saul swore to the woman, he swears to her by the Lord, saying, As the Lord liveth, there shall no punishment happen to thee for this thing.

Then said the woman, whom shall I bring up unto thee?

Now, I know I'm in the islands, and my family, again, my family's Jamaican, and you know, in Jamaica they call this Obia.

That's good, that's a good word, it works, right?

The Obeah man's gonna come and get you, right?

And so I was in Jamaica, I'll tell you a story.

I was in Jamaica preaching at a place called Frankfield, Jamaica, which is in the bush.

But it's not near the, this, they told me this is the bush.

This was up in the mountains of Jamaica, tucked away, took hours to get there from Kingston.

And I was way up in the mountains and I was preaching.

And so the spirit of God, I was preaching the sermon series and this is church, the church only had 15 or 20 members when we got there.

It was a powerful effort, it wasn't just me, people, I mean even after I left, people were preaching.

Powerful thing God did out in Frankfield, Jamaica.

1 night I decided I was gonna preach a sermon called Duppies, Dummies, and Demons.

And I was gonna blast from the pulpit Obeah and his belief in duppies.

Okay, so of course in Jamaica it's a duppy, right?

And so I start preaching this message, and I'm on fire.

Now, what they did is, in Jamaica, you know, they don't have a lot of, in America, they have all kinds of laws against how much sound you can produce and noise pollution.

I don't think they have those laws in Jamaica.

So they put speakers on top of the tent and the sound carried all the way across the river.

So people, there were nights when I would preach and people would come down in their pajamas out of their house when I made the appeal.
