The Better Gift

Father, I want to thank you so much for the privilege to not just study your word, but to share it.

Father, this morning I truly ask and pray for your Holy Spirit to please be outpoured.

I know there are some here that are sick that are not here.

I know there's a lot of things going around in our own world.

But Father I pray that you would take us back 2, 000 years ago.

Something that took place changed this world and the universe forever.

Father, somehow in some way I pray that you would please remove all distractions, that you will please be with the technology, that you would please speak with power.

All right, you all know that I love participation, so I'm gonna need some participation this morning.

What gift are you looking forward to the most this holiday season?

Are any of you looking forward to some gift?

What is the gift that you are looking forward to the most this holiday season?

Well, do you know what was 1 of the most expensive gifts a person has ever received?

From a person to person, what is the most expensive gift anyone ever received?

It is 1 of the most famous public displays of affection of all time.

The ruler Shah Shahan spent the equivalent of $827 million, According to Forbes magazine, building what is called the Taj Mahal as a gift to his wife.

The construction took over 22 years to build and it required over 20, 000 artisans to build it.

So this is an incredible building, an incredible gift.

Now what's kind of interesting is the Taj Mahal literally means the palace of the crown.

And for something that would cost that much, you would imagine that that's a pretty good name for that.

It was for his wife, the love of his life.

His wife's name is Lam Taz Mahal, which literally means the crown of the palace.

He spent $827 million building this building for the crown, for his crown, for his beauty, for the love of his life, his wife.

And while this is surely 1 of the most expensive gifts ever lavished upon any human being on planet earth, it really pales in comparison to what our God has given us.

You see, ladies and gentlemen, the celestial palace above gave up the crown of heaven, Jesus Christ, for us.

Jesus was willing to surrender his life for humanity because in his eyes, he saw us as the crown of His glory.

Now, what is 1 of the main reasons God has given His Son as a sacrifice for our sins?

And at first it may seem very elementary, but I want you to stick with me this morning.

What was 1 of the major reasons why God the Father gave Jesus Christ as a gift to humanity?

Well, ladies and gentlemen, it is because we were in need of forgiveness.

I want you to understand something very clearly this morning.

The reason why the Father gave us the gift of eternal life through his Son was for the purpose of reconciliation.

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new what, everybody?

Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to himself through Jesus Christ and has given us the Ministry of what, everybody?

All right, hold on 1 second really quickly.

So the father says that he's given his son for to reconcile us.

Now the Bible says that this is who has reconciled us to himself through Jesus Christ and has given us the ministry of what?

So can you say, can you agree with me that Jesus came down to this planet to bring, to start a ministry called the ministry of reconciliation, to bring us back into harmony with the Father.

And as a result of doing that, now those who are experiencing this, those who are new creatures, have a ministry.

That is, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of what everybody?

The verse before says the ministry of reconciliation.

Now then, Paul says, we are what everybody?

Ambassadors or representatives for Christ, as though God were pleading through who, everybody?

We implore you on Christ's behalf, Paul says, be reconciled to God, for he has made him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in him.

Now, ladies and gentlemen, how do you know if you are a new creation?

How do you know if you are experiencing a conversion in your life?

How do you know if you are being reconciled by the Father or through Christ, how do you know if you are a new creature in Christ?

Well, ladies and gentlemen, you have the realization that you have a ministry.

How do you know that you are a new creation?

Paul lays it out very clearly several times in those scriptures.

The Bible says those who are new creatures, those that are new creation, those who are converted have a ministry that's all about what everybody?
