Music and Worship: The Chief Battleground of Satan, Part 1

My name is Pastor Dwayne Turner, and I'm a pastor in New York City, pastor in 2 churches, 1 in Brooklyn and 1 in Queens.

My specialty is really prophecy, dealing with the end times and the issues that will face us and that are facing us even now.

These next 2 seminars, this 1 and the next 1, is going to be dealing with music.

This will be the theoretical, the next 1 will be the practical.

I would encourage you to look at both if you are able to.

I know we want to get around, and that's important as well.

But I just want to let you know that these issues are extremely important that we're going to be looking at because as for those of you who were in the last session you will note that the Midianitish women had stolen into the camp right we learned.

Israel just as they were about to go into the land of Canaan.

With music and dancing, right, with music and dancing, they were able to lure the children of Israel into a new experience, and God was displeased.

And we read for our text, Ecclesiastes chapter 1 and verse 9, talking about the thing that hath been is the thing that shall be and there is no new thing under the sun so history is teaching us all right So now what we're looking at here is music and worship, which we are bringing out is the chief battleground of Satan, part 1.

This presentation is not FYI, which is what?

I know you, the food is working on you, right?

This is not FYI, which means what everyone?

We ought to know the difference in these last days between inspiration and an explanation.

We have source, 2 sources of inspiration that God has given us in the church, the Bible and the spirit of prophecy which we'll be using in this seminar as opposed to an explanation.

An explanation may sound good but you can be lost because of it isn't that right?

The most difficult fact about prophecy is this, that real people fulfill real prophecy.

Now generally I'll take time to ask those that are in the seminar, what is the most difficult fact about prophecy to you?

We don't have time, but let me tell you why I say that.

It's not symbols and dates and timelines and that type of thing.

We can learn that, but the fact that when we go to the application phase of it, that it involves real people.

If you've ever had a crusade or been involved in a crusade, okay, then you know, or if you ever preached 1, you know or gave Bible studies.

The most difficult moment is when you have to start making applications.

You've been talking about the beast, you've been talking about the image of the beast, but a person saying, okay, now who is that?

Otherwise, the information is no good, right?

And not only, it can also become personal.

I think of the scriptures in Matthew chapter 10 verses 34 to 38.

Think not that I've come to send peace on the earth.

I've not come to send peace but a sword to set at variance father against son, mother and law against daughter, or mother against daughter and mother-in-law against daughter-in-law, for the man's foes shall be they of his own, what?

That's a real application, and God is telling us that ahead of time so that we choose him and not others.

So when we make these applications, it's going to be difficult, but we love all people.

Great Controversy page 588 gives us essentially what the blueprint for what we'll be looking at this afternoon because it talks about 2 great errors.

Let me read this to you now through the 2 great heirs the immortality of the soul and Sunday sacredness Satan will bring the people under his deceptions While the former the immortality of the soul lays the foundation of spiritualism the latter creates a bond of sympathy with Rome.

The Protestants of the United States will be foremost in stretching their hands across the gulf to grasp the hands of spiritualism.

They will reach over the abyss to clasp hands with the Roman power, and under the influence of how many in this union, everyone?

This threefold union, this country, the United States, will follow in the steps of Rome in trampling on the rights of conscience.

As spiritualism more closely imitates the nominal Christianity of the day, it has greater power to deceive and ensnare.

Now notice that Dylan White has left talking about immortality of the soul.

Okay, now I want you to listen carefully.

Immortality of the soul is the large umbrella.

But spiritualism is the vehicle that leads you to that erroneous doctrine of immortality of the soul.

So what essentially Ellen White is saying is there are inroads to the immortality of the soul.

And it's through the vehicle of spiritualism.

When I do the full-blown seminar, I talk about the inroads to immortality of the soul and the inroads to Sunday sacredness, Sunday sacredness, but we don't have time to do that in this session.

He will appear in, I'm sorry, Satan himself is converted after the modern order of things.

He will appear in the character of an angel of light, through the agency of spiritualism, miracles will be wrought, the sick will be healed, and many undeniable wonders will be performed now if you think about Revelation chapter 13 huh When you start reading from verse 11, that second beast that's coming up out of the earth, it says in verse 14, he causeth fire to come down from heaven on earth in the sight of men.

I remember when I was a boy people used to say is that a new is that the what do you call that the nuclear a nuclear bomb?

Back then they said atom bomb But you know that's not what it is fire mean like the Holy Spirit It's false fire It's what appears to be from God.

We didn't get to talk about this in our last session, counterfeit revival.

We don't have time to talk about it, but let's go on.

Through the agency of spiritualism, miracles will be wrought, the sick will be healed, and many undeniable wonders will be performed.

And as the spirits will profess faith in the Bible and manifest respect for the institutions of the church, their work will be accepted as a manifestation of divine power.

The line of distinction, please read this with me everyone.

The line of distinction between professed Christians and the ungodly is now hardly distinguishable.

Church members love what the world loves and are ready to join with them and Satan determines to unite them into what?

1 body and thus strengthen his cause by sweeping all into the ranks of what?

Now they're gonna be united to how many bodies everyone?

That's the ecumenical movement isn't that right?

And I'm wondering how is he going to do that?

It's not an intellectual joining of the minds because if you do that it will just strengthen people and why they are in the Protestant faith they're in because it was arrived for intellectual purposes.

But Satan comes through the back door and he says, listen, I'm gonna bond them together through emotions, through music.

Now you say, but Pastor, I didn't read any of that.

Somebody give me a working definition for the word spiritualism.

Trusting the senses as your authority over the written word of God.

Somebody else, they wanna give me a definition, spiritualism.

Okay, pastors were so strong that you said I'm not gonna, no other takers, right, okay.

To add to that, it is the vehicle, whatever vehicle Satan uses to get to something.
