Help our Unbelief

So without further ado, let's go ahead and jump into the Word of God together after a word of prayer.

You can bow your heads with me as I kneel.

Dear Father in heaven, we thank you, Lord, for the blessings that we have been given today.

As the song was sung, Lord, we lift our eyes toward you because from you is where our help comes.

We thank you for what you are doing for us right now, what you have done, what you are doing, and what you will continue to do in our lives.

As we study this subject, Lord, may your Holy Spirit speak to us.

And we Thank you in advance for what the Holy Spirit will speak.

We thank you and pray this in Jesus' name, amen.

I wanna bring you greetings before I start the message from my wife and children who are not with me today, unfortunately, they're in Texas, But they do send their greetings to those that know Karen and my 2 sons Nathan and Emmett.

1 of the messages or the primary message we see Christ sharing when he first comes on the scene is very clear and very short and very succinct.

And that is found in Mark chapter 1, looking at verse 15, verse 14 and 15.

If you have a Bible, let's turn there, Mark chapter 1, and look at verse 14 and 15.

When you get there, you can go ahead and let me know that you're there by saying amen.

The Bible says there, now after John was put in prison, Jesus came to Galilee preaching the gospel of the kingdom.

He's preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and he begins preaching saying these words in verse 15.

So I heard a variety of different things, but the basic word in Greek is a change of thinking or a change of mind.

Repent, change how you think, and believe what?

The title of this morning's message is Help My Unbelief.

But we have to set the foundation here quickly.

And we're going to come back to this verse a little bit later.

Let's go to Romans chapter 1, looking at verse 16.

And I thank the Lord that we believe the gospel this morning.

And we're going to see what this really means here briefly.

So we're in Romans chapter 1, looking at verse 16.

Romans 1 verse 16, the Bible says this, for I am not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ.

For it is the power of God for or to salvation for everyone who does what?

We have to believe the power of God unto salvation, which is the gospel.

For the Jew first and also for the Greek.

Don't forget verse 17 because it's very important.

The righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith as it is written, the just shall live by?

And some argue that that last part, I think I'm not gonna talk about this much today, but that last part could really be translated, the just shall live by his faithfulness.

And we can cooperate that in Romans chapter 3 verse 3 as well.

But believing the gospel is very important.

Christ came sharing a message that we should repent and believe the gospel.

And I'll ask the question 1 more time, how many of you believe the gospel?

We're not ashamed of the gospel, we just read that, right?

How many of you ever heard of this guy, the great Blondin or Blondin?

Anyone ever heard of him before, Charles?

He was a famous tightrope walker that most famously would walk across the Niagara Falls.

Back in the 1800s, mid-1800s, he was doing this and he would gather large crowds to himself or to the stage there before he was going to walk across these long hundreds, thousands of feet of tightrope over the Niagara Falls.

Oftentimes he would rile the crowd up before he would walk across the tightrope and he would ask them, do you think that I, the great blond dean, can walk across this tightrope and go across the Niagara Falls?

And they would say, we believe, we believe.

He'd come back and everyone would scream, oh, yes, we believe, we believe.

And they would ask him, he would ask them again.

Do you believe that I, the great Blondine, can ride across this tightrope riding a bicycle?

We believe, we believe, let's see you do it, we believe.

They're all waiting with bated breath to see what would happen.

To 1 side and the other, successfully, they all cheer.

They asked him again, Do you think that I, the great Blondine, can actually push a wheelbarrow across this tightrope over the Niagara Falls?" And what do you think they said?
