It's a dark and lonely night all by myself, sleeping on someone else's couch.

It's another day on stage, surrounded by my band, looking on this crowd all aglow.

In fact, they're off a lot as I look at the clock.

This morning, at about 7.45, we started filming a couple of location programs for the It Is Written weekly telecast, the weekly television program that'll be that will be played sometime in the future.

1 of the things that I've wanted to do at It Is Written and 1 of the things we have started to do is get our weekly television program out of the studio a little more and into the field a little more.

Last week, we recorded a program just south of Sacramento where I interviewed a lady who was sitting in her car at the driver's seat while her husband was standing just outside the car on the phone.

And she heard him say, get that thing out of my face man.

And she didn't think anything of that either.

She was just sitting waiting for her husband, waiting for her husband, and then she said, wait a minute.

And then she looked and there was a man walking away with a shotgun, holding it above his head, doing like this, like he just won a victory.

And that's when she realized what had happened.

He had gone out that evening intending to cause mayhem.

He called someone and said, are you watching the news?

And then he shot this man in the face and left him on the ground to die.

Remarkably, this woman was able to extend forgiveness to the man who shot her husband dead.

At his sentencing she spoke to him and told him that she believed God loved him and that God had a special plan for him and she said I want you to know that as a Christian, as a believer in Jesus, I forgive you for what you've done.

We went to the Mount Hope Cemetery in College Place, Washington.

And we filmed a couple of television programs on the subject of death Now they took a little longer than we thought they would take But I said no problem I'll be driving to Spangle the back way And you can always make up a little bit of time.

There was a police officer whose radar was off.

I have his signature and a piece of paper on the car.

If he hadn't messed us up we'd have been here on time.

Well it's probably a good thing if we pray and expect God to bless us.

I didn't say ask God to bless us, I said expect God to bless us.

Have you been blessed so far during army?

And I hope you don't mind me being up here without a suit jacket.

I was told that it's hot up here and when I looked at me all are doing this So I figure I made the right decision and I hope you won't feel that I'm being irreverent or too casual Please let us pray together Our Father and our God We come to you tonight in the name of Jesus.

We are grateful that we can be in this place.

You have called us out of darkness and into your marvelous light.

And more than that, you have left us your Holy Spirit, sent your Holy Spirit to be with us.

And more than that, you have given us your word that it might be a guide, a stay, a comfort, a strength, that it might be a written revelation of who you are, and that it might provide strength and direction for our lives.

Lord, I plead with you not to be present here because we know you're present.

But I pray that you would move in our hearts, that our hearts would be open, that our minds would be pliable, that our focus would be sharp.

And I pray, please, that you would have mercy on this faulty, ill-equipped, frail human instrumentality.

Work in spite of what you have to work with, I pray.

And please, Lord, we pray that you would be blessed in the way that you want us to be blessed.

I went online the other day and I saw a small article on the front page of where I usually go to read the news, or 1 of the places I go to read the news.

And 1 of the headlines said, Amy Winehouse is dead.

Now, if you don't know who Amy Winehouse is, that's okay.

I don't really either, except that I've discovered through the news that she's a big-deal musician.

I found out not until after she died that she had won Grammy Awards.

I didn't know that, but she was a big deal.

Her life was really a train wreck, even her mother expected her to die from drug use.

She was a chronic drug user, a terrible alcohol abuser.

And so, the headline said that she was dead.

As a matter of fact, the headline didn't say she was dead, it said something about her that made it sound very much like she was dead.

And my first thought was, well, that's not a big surprise.

My second thought was something like, well, that's really a shame.

And my third thought was, But in light of this big headline over here, that's a much smaller story.

Because the big headline over here said that in Norway, a madman with a gun had gone and killed 93 people.

Evidently, the guy parked a car bomb in downtown Oslo.

It was a terrible thing, an enormous bang.

Then he went to a camp on an island where the guns started shooting people.

When the shots started to be fired, I read, people actually ran towards him, thinking, what's going on?

My friend said that this is not firsthand.

My friend said that the man had a police uniform on.

He was wearing a police uniform and so they all thought it was part of the show and maybe to be expected and maybe whatever.

And at the end of the day, 70, 80, 90 people dead.

I don't mind what your answer is and I'm not even sure what you will answer, but I'm going to ask this.
