What Did You Expect?

I tip my hat to all of you who have stayed up until the very end.

If you don't mind, I would just like to have an additional word of prayer.

Could you bow your heads with me, please?

Father in heaven, Lord, we're living in the last days, and we know perilous times are ahead of us.

And Lord, what we need is a deep infilling of your Holy Spirit.

Lord, would you do something special for us this evening?

You've been blessing us throughout this whole weekend, and I just pray that you would cap it off with something special, an additional portion of your grace and spirit.

Please bless this message, Lord, we need your message this evening, and I just ask that you would use me as your instrument.

So the title of this message is, What Did You Expect?

Imagine that you were competing in the Olympics.

Would you rather place A, come in second, B, come in third, or C, second to last?

All those who would prefer to come in second, just raise your hand.

You're in the Olympics, what medal do you want?

Raise your hand if you wanna get third place.

Well, you know, they've actually done studies on which metal recipients are the happiest.

Which ones are actually the happiest afterwards?

Those are the people who actually tend to be the happiest.

There's a good number of photos you could find on the internet of silver medalists that do not look very excited.

Not looking too stoked up on that silver medal.

There's another guy Kind of depressed, huh?

And then we got this gentleman who's trying his best to look excited with his silver medal.

And then of course, we can't have this slide presentation without showing this girl here.

Now, in contrast, you can find quite a number of pictures on the internet of bronze medalists who look like this.

I mean, just so excited about this bronze medal.

So happy, so happy with their bronze medal.

This 1 here, super excited about her bronze medal.

They interviewed her, and she didn't think she had medaled.

And in the middle of the interview, she's like, well, you know, I didn't get a medal.

And so, why are the silver medalists not happy?

What's going on in their head as they're standing on that podium in second place?

But then these bronze medalists, what are they thinking as they're standing on the podium?

And it's all about expectations, isn't it?

Expectations is a really interesting topic, and that's what I'd like to talk to you about.

Expectations make 1 person happy with trash and another person upset with treasure.

And what's difficult is when we have failed expectations.

How do you know when you've had a failed expectation?

Any time you feel disappointed, you have had a failed expectation.

As I began to study this topic, I realized expectations play a huge role in our spiritual life, and even our salvation.

I want to share my theory with you right out of the gate.

I'm just gonna come and share kind of 1 of my main points here.

I believe God's remnant Church, those who are going to receive the latter reign and make it all the way through till the second coming of Jesus are going to have to deal with a failed expectation.

And I'll let you know what leads me to this conclusion.

If you look back at sacred history, every time the Holy Spirit has been poured out, or was about to be poured out, there was a disappointment.
