Tools for Soul-Winning Health Expos, Part 1

So Pastor Jackson tonight referred to this text.

It's 1 of my favorites also because I see Jesus going about cities and what?

The villages, the highways and the byways.

I like that he cared about all the different places.

And he taught in their synagogues, and I added, of course, my letters here.

And I call this the AB approach, because I think we pass by it often.

And he preached the gospel of the kingdom, and he was healing every sickness and disease among the people.

So often I see the money spent on the evangelistic effort and almost nothing spent in the preparation for the health work that really opens the door to make good Seventh-day Adventist people.

When people come into the church through the health message, they are so much more solid and mature than when they just come in so quickly with a shallow background.

Matthew 10, he not only used it for himself, but he mentored his 12 disciples, and he gave them power over unclean spirits to cast them out and to heal all kinds of sickness and diseases.

And then it goes a step further, he goes on and we learn about the 70 in Luke 10, after these things he appointed 70 others and he sent them out 2 by 2 and they did the AB approach, They were healing the sick there and they said to them, the kingdom of God has come near to you.

You see the two-fold approach, the healing and the preaching, the teaching together.

And Seventh-day Adventists have been blessed with the AB method.

But clear back in Kellogg's day, the devil came in and just tried to make it difficult for ministers and doctors to work together, or however we were supposed to blend.

And so often we're doing evangelism with 1 hand behind her back.

Ellen White, not long before she died, made her last trip across the continental United States on an old city train for several weeks and travel from California to Washington, DC.

And She spoke this message to the General Conference delegates.

You can get it all by that reference, June 3, 1909.

I think she had several messages there, but this is the 1 that caught my heart.

She said in this title, a plea for medical missionary work.

Why would she have to plead at the end of her life for something she'd been talking about for a long time?

I mean, Loma Linda had been created just 5 years before, 4 years before, Glendale, Paradise Valley.

They were pressing together, and she left this message with them, and we don't have time to read it all, but I'm hitting just the high points.

She said, the end of all things is at hand.

The signs foretold by Christ are fast fulfilling.

There are souls in many places who have not yet heard the message.

Henceforth, from now on, medical missionary work is to be carried forward with an earnestness with which it has never yet been done.

And I've had the privilege of seeing it open doors in little villages and huge cities.

I caught my vision for the Health Expo working with a man that we just saw a few minutes ago next door, Mark Finley.

I was starting a new medical missionary training school in Romania when he was out drawing these major cities in AX, what he called AX 2000, and Bucharest was on his list.

And when he came and planned for Bucharest, he asked us if I could come and help him to do a large health expo in an auditorium that had been dedicated to communists, but no longer.

I'll show you some pictures of that a little later and come back to that story.

This work is the door through which the truth is to find entrance into where?

And if it works in the large cities, it can work in the small ones.

What you're going to be learning in this class.

Why it's 1 of the best programs to start a cycle of friendship.

I'm not promoting it as the program, it's part of a team of programs.

But it's 1 of the easiest ones to reach a new territory.

How to organize it, how to use the screening equipment, we'll practice with it here, and practice the anti-stress massage, and a quick little introduction to our Abundant Living Health Nuggets that we have available, which when you've got the interest of people through your health expo and you're looking for something to use for follow-up and you want to be able to have some health talks, we have the Abundant Living series and more.

That's what we're going to be covering in our workshop.

Tonight, tomorrow morning, I think it's 8.30 to 10.30, is that correct?

And tomorrow afternoon for a couple more hours, and then 4 hours Sunday morning, and then Sunday afternoon we can do 1 right here.

How expos have opened the doors around the world.

I knew months ahead of time he'd contacted me to prepare.

The Nelsons who had been at Weimar years before had created in the Philippines huge banners.

And that cost about that much more to make.

And so the union conference finally took it over.

I helped them with some photos and pictures.

But I didn't live over there at the time.

And I was coming later to start the school.

They ended up spending $20, 000 to put together their own set.

Well, they've used it for a number of years since then.

So it's not like it was once and threw it away.

But it was bulky and huge and takes a truck to carry it around.

And I said, you know, the concept is so good.

It's so neat to have professional looking backdrops that promote our message and that we can build our stations around for screening, but we'll never finish the work if we pay that kind of money.

Now, how can the local churches have these things?

And it was there the Lord put a burden on my heart to find a way to produce Health Expo banners in large quantities so that it could come down to a price that any church could afford.

We've come down from the $5, 000 price to just over a $1, 000 price, and we're not going to go into details exactly.

But I'm warning you, don't try to get me any cheaper than we have them, because I've already done my mission work.

We've got them down from the high price down to the minimum.

You know, if I offered them for $10, someone would want them for $5.

But anyway, we have tried to get it down as a ministry where it's affordable.

And so it's a real blessing that we can offer that for you.

We're constantly searching for the best printers, the best material, the best rolling systems, frameworks, and so forth.

You can't imagine how much time we have spent to do this.

WIN! Wellness Homes of Hope & Health, Part 1

And Wynn Wellness Homes of Hope and Health.

Okay we know that some of you have come just to get information and that's the only reason you're here because some of you are here because you want to hear Wes Youngberg tell all that he knows about the research, current research in diabetes and in on vitamin D, sunlight and all these kinds of things.

Some of you are here to get information as to how you can have a conduct a WIN Wellness Seminar.

And some of you are here because you are interested in becoming a trainer of other people to do this kind of ministry.

We are going in April to Singapore and we're going to be training trainers because It isn't enough to just train you, but if we want the ripple effect, we would be so pleased if you would become a trainer of trainers to do this ministry.

We're also going to China right after our stay in Singapore, and there we're going to train trainers of Chinese, we're going to China, and there we're going to be training trainers in 4 different metropolitan areas in China.

They've already translated some of the material that you will be getting into Chinese.

And anyway, it's really getting exciting to see how God is opening up the doors all over the world.

During the Christmas break, there was 1 person from Loma Linda who was in public health.

He went to India and in India he trained different individuals, about 200 young people from GYC to do this ministry or to begin training them.

And so tonight it's a training time, it's a learning time, it's a joyful time, And we just praise God that you the Holy Spirit brought you here tonight to learn about how to Help people to live live longer healthier happier and holier and John we we Let we yes, we need prayer and then we're going to go over your brochure.

Dear Lord, thank you for this wonderful group of people.

We've heard the Word of God from Elder Jackson tonight.

Our hearts are moved, and we know that you have a health message for the world.

The world is hurting, and so we come to thee humbly, even as disciples who want to walk with Jesus and learn His ways.

We know that all the learning just doesn't come from the front and go to the back.

It is circular and it comes from all of us and all of us benefit.

May your holy angels bring us together in this learning tonight.

And tonight we would like to just quickly give you information.

I would say like in a nutshell, which is found in your brochure.

We suggest that you keep your brochure because when you leave here, some of the information that is on this brochure can be valuable to you in your marketing in the future as you invite people to come to your Wynn Wellness Homes of Hope ministry.

You will notice at the very beginning it says that it is integrated balanced living, which includes the mental, the physical, the spiritual, the relational, a wellness.

And we also indicate here that Wynn Wellness is a ministry of healing model.

Well actually Ministry Healing is the most, 1 of the most wonderful books that Ellen White ever wrote.

Maybe Desire of Ages and Steps to Christ would be first, but Ministry Healing would be right up there.

And if we open the books, the covers of that book we find a model it isn't in a diagram we we've tried to dry diagram it but it's not in a diagram there but it brings out different aspects of health.

Have you noticed that Ellen White in that book dedicates 7 chapters to the family?

Oh, what does that say about Ministry of Healing, 7 chapters on the family?

Some people get stuck on page 123 that says there are 8 natural remedies, but how about the other 7 chapters that say that only deal with the family?

And so, and of course, the introductory chapters that are so wonderful dealing with Christ as a healer, as a teacher, and the whole spiritual dimension.

We consider Wynn Wellness, and you yourselves will judge if this is a ministry of healing model to show the synergistic relationship of the different spheres of life, including the physical sphere, including the mind-spirit sphere, including the relationship sphere of the family.

We know that if individuals have problems in their family, they can possibly have health problems, and they can have spiritual problems if they have marriage problems or problems with children or stresses and all these kinds of things.

Now, I might say Homes of Hope and Health can be used as solo learning.

We have loaned you a book on, most of you have 1, which is our book 2, which we're going to use tonight.

It is not your book, it is for our demonstration of how it can be used.

And but tomorrow you will be able, in the evening, be able to get your own copy for yourself.

You learn, and then you have somebody else come join you on your health and spiritual journey.

If you have a husband and wife, you learn, then you, that's duo learning, then you also learn and then invite other couples to learn with you.

If you are a family, your family is learning this material, you invite other families.

We want a ripple effect, ripple effect, so it doesn't just stop with 1 person.

And then we are about small group ministry and besides that Wynn Wellness can be used for medical evangelism, for seminars, for family and health evangelism.

And it does gently introduce the doctrines.

Most of the Seventh-day Adventist doctrines are presented in the WIN Wellness Program.

We normally approach a topic like this, a gripping story followed by scientific information.

What does the Bible say on that same subject?

If this is true, What are we going to do about it?

Even if it's a mini step Everybody's not ready to take a huge leap But no 1 should go out of 1 of our meetings the same as when they came to the meeting All right this evening we We have already said to the media.

But Millie, the point I was going to make, which left me.

But the point I was going to make is that it includes the doctrines.

And so when we deal with hope we deal with the psychological construct of hope and its importance to physical health But then we bridge over to the blessed When we present rest we start with sleep deprivation and wonderful scientific information.

But we bridge over into what doctrine can you get?

And we end up asking them, how would you like to spend your first Sabbath with the Lord?

And so all the, I shouldn't say all, we do not spend, We do not present the spirit of prophecy as a doctrine, although we quote from Ellen White many times.

But our major doctrines are there in wind wellness.

And so people are using this, and people are being baptized, as we will show you in just a few minutes.

And I just want to say that if you have Buddhists and Jewish people or others, you may wish to be lighter on the doctrines and hold it until they're quite ready so it's up to you.

Okay John we have many things Ellen White says about ministry medical missionary work would you please?

The medical missionary work is as the what?

And when our son Wes presents this he says remember it's not the right fists.

Some people present this as the right fist of the gospel.

The right arm to the third angel's message which must be proclaimed to a fallen world.

How many people, let's see, every church, Is there a conference health director here in our midst?

How many churches do you have in your conference?

How many medical missionary centers should you have in the Rocky Mountain Conference?

How many medical missionary centers should you have in Iowa-Missouri?

The medical missionary work should be a part of the work of every church in the land.

Engaging Youth in Health Outreach, Part 1

We thank you for just the opportunity to come in your presence.

Father, each individual here represents a ministry, a ministry you have set in their hearts for such a long time, Father.

What they do, they're very passionate about, and it's their way of helping, sharing your love story.

Father, I ask that you will be with us today as we share and learn and just be creative and come up with unique ways and learn unique ways of how to connect with the generation to help them to love you more and and to also take a message of health and and you know helping people to make the positive change in their life that they need brings honor and glory to thee.

Father, I ask that you would be with my words, that it be your words and not my words.

Father, use me today to be that vessel, and Lord, most of all, let us have a great time praising you.

Because For those who don't know me, my name's Cassio Jones.

And I used to be, I guess, cloned as the Energizer Bunny.

And I'm a very energetic individual, so forgive me if I'm all over the place in this room and your eyes are bouncing back and forth, but hang in there, it all makes sense, it all comes together.

When we work with the youth, it's important that we're able to have ability to, you know, as I say, connect with them.

And as you know, you work with the youth, their energy is nonstop at times.

And fortunately, we like to keep up with them.

It's Sabbath hours, but we want to learn.

We want to fill ourselves with a whole lot of resources and have a good time.

We're kind of a small-knit family right now.

So you're gonna see each other for the next few days.

And if you get a chance to interact with 1 another, please do.

And any time if you have any questions, stick your hands up.

And I would like to just make it kind of like informal.

So the last thing we're going to talk about is how to make an impact.

And that's me right there, Cassia Johnson.

OK, this is going to be a rough crowd tonight.

By the way, if I say something that kind of like a just go with it, OK?

You know, Moses, God used Moses, and he had a speech issue.

So the Lord tried to use me as much as he can.

So just go with whatever comes out of my mouth, just try and nod your head and say, okay, I understand what you're trying to say, okay?

And you guys are allowed to laugh, you're allowed to smile, and have a good time.

So I apologize we're trying to get everything booted up here.

So, so, have any of you are involved in health ministry right now?

Okay, and the rest of you are, and how many of you are involved in youth ministry?

So we got health ministry and youth ministry.

Some youth ministry are not involved in health ministry, and some health ministry are not involved in youth ministry.

So we're trying to identify a way of connecting us together and connecting with the, we've all agreed there's a need for taking health to a younger generation, yes or no?

And we look at our statistics that are straight across the board.

And the younger generations are starting to see the effects of unhealthy lifestyle.

Obesity issues are just rampant in the United States.

Is it that way in other countries as well?

It changed obesity, starting to be at a younger age?

So we cannot sit back and just take a stand and have our blinders on to identify that there's a problem going on and not take action.

And I think it's very important for us to realize that we could do so much as an adult, But imagine what it would be like if we created an army of youth leaders, of a younger generation who comes behind us, who has information to witness to their peers.

That's very powerful coming from a peer than so much from an adult.

Because generations younger, I mean, the youth listen to their peers.

I mean, once you get to a certain age, and especially if you're the parent, there's like this blah, blah, blah, blah effect that they don't hear.

It's like they don't get it, or there's just a dissociation.

And I don't get that with every adult, because it's like it's just the parents.

Like, they don't listen, and they need certain role models in their lives.

And as you know, youth workers, you have that connection with the kids.

So they do listen, but the relationship with their peers can be very, very powerful.

So you imagine the ability to take that information, put it into a mind of a youth, and put that youth out there in their community.

How more powerful and aggressive that could be of spreading the message of, you know, taking care of God's temple or temple maintenance.

But we actually have a momentum change, not just in the church, but in the community around us.

And when you think about obesity, when you think about lifestyle choices, we know 70% to 80% of all chronic diseases are due to lifestyle choices.

And when you see younger kids who have hypertension at age 12, I mean, what's going on in their life that's causing that much destruction?

Their path, their next 20, 30 years won't happen in that current pattern.

So it's important to be able to connect and reach down with them and to see that.

Now imagine this army of youth health ministers.
