The Fit Man in the Great Controversy

I'm sad to say that this is probably the last time we will be at Patna.

We are leaving back for the United States at the end of this month.

And so we're glad that we can be with you 1 more Sabbath.

And I pray that the message that we have today that the Lord has in store for us will remind us of where we are all headed.

Because this earth is a temporary home wherever we live.

So let's go ahead and bow our heads for prayer.

Father in heaven, I pray that you would be with us this morning in a special way as we open up your word.

May you speak through me in a special way.

May the messenger be lost sight of, but may only Jesus be seen.

The title for today's message is The Fit Man in the Great Controversy.

I wanna start off by turning to Revelation chapter 15.

This chapter is sometimes overlooked as we study the 3 angels' messages in Revelation 14, and we study the loud cry of Revelation 18, where an angel comes down from heaven and the earth is lightened with its glory.

But Revelation chapter 15 has some very important instruction for us living in the last days.

And it immediately follows the 3 angels' messages and the harvest of chapter 14.

Revelation chapter 15 verse 1 we read, And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvelous, 7 angels having the 7 last plagues, for in them is filled up the wrath of God.

Do you realize that after the 3 angels' messages have done their work, there is going to come a time where the wrath of God will do its appointed work in the outpouring of the 7 last plagues.

There will not be a time of mercy that will last forever.

There is coming a time where everyone will have made his or her choice for good or for evil.

The 3 angels' messages will have been proclaimed with power.

And at that point God will say, now it is time for the 7 angels to pour out the 7 last plagues.

Now, Revelation 15, it seems like you're about to get warmed up and you're about to just see the 7 last plagues poured out, but then we have to wait until chapter 16 to see them poured out.

And I saw as it were a sea of glass mingled with fire.

And them that had gotten the victory over the beast and over the image and over his mark and over the number of his name, stand on the sea of glass, having the harps of God." Do you realize that it is God's purpose through the proclamation of the 3 angels' messages of Revelation 14 that each 1 of us would have that experience of having gotten the victory over the beast and over the mark and over the number of his name so that we can stand on the sea of glass.

God doesn't want to pour out the 7 last plagues on us.

He wants us to be among those who stand on the sea of glass, having gained the victory over the beast, over the image, and over his mark.

Notice what God's last day people experience as they stand on the sea of glass, verse 3, and they sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvelous are thy works, Lord God Almighty!

Just and true are thy ways, thou King of Saints.

I want to be among those who sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, Jesus Christ.

We're going to talk about that a little bit more at the end of this message Notice what they sing specifically in this message verse 4 who shall not fear thee O Lord and glorify thy name For thou only art holy for all nations shall come and worship before thee for thy judgments are made manifest Do you see the 3 angels messages in here who shall not fear thee O God Fear God and give glory to him.

We fear God, we give glory to Him in the hour of His judgment.

And His judgments are made manifest through the outpouring of the 7 last plagues.

This is after the plagues have been poured out.

And God's people are saying, we have gained the victory, and your judgments have been made manifest, you were righteous to pour out your plagues.

And after that I looked, and behold, the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven was opened.

This is speaking of the sanctuary in heaven.

And what John the Revelator sees, he sees that the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony was opened in heaven.

Every time in the book of Revelation that the sanctuary is mentioned, something very key, something very significant is happening apocalypticly and prophetically.

And when you look through the book of Revelation, when you see Revelation chapter 1, Jesus is walking in the midst of the candlesticks in the holy place of the heavenly sanctuary.

In Revelation chapter 4, a door is open in heaven.

John is taken and visioned into the holy place of the heavenly sanctuary where he sees the throne of God and across from the throne are 7 lamps of fire that are burning again the 7 golden candlesticks and then in Revelation chapter 8 when the 7 trumpets are about to sound John the Revelator again sees an angel who has the censer in his hand standing before the altar of incense again in the holy place.

And then in Revelation 11 verse 19, it says, the temple of God was opened in heaven and there was seen in His temple the ark of His testament.

And that is describing when the most holy place was opened at the end of the 2, 300 day prophecy in 1844.

In Revelation chapter 15, something of even greater significance is taking place.

John looks up again into heaven and he sees the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven being opened.

And notice what happens as the temple of God is open in heaven.

And the 7 angels came out of the temple, having the 7 plagues, clothed them pure in white linen, and having their breasts girded with golden girdles, And 1 of the 4 beasts gave unto the 7 angels 7 golden vials full of the wrath of God who liveth forever and ever.

Now notice what happens to the temple of God in heaven when it is open.

Verse 8, And the temple was filled with smoke from the glory of God and from His power.

And no man was able to enter into the temple till the 7 plagues of the 7 angels were fulfilled.

No man was able to enter in to the temple in heaven while the 7 last plagues were being poured out because there is smoke from the glory of the Lord that is filling the temple in heaven.

Obviously, Scripture speaks of God being in His holy temple.

Also, when you study Scripture in the book of Hebrews, we see Jesus, who was fully God, and also fully man, enter into heaven, into the sanctuary, into the temple of God, to be seated at the right hand of the throne of God.

Meaning, when it says no man was able to enter into the temple, that means that Jesus Christ, as our great high priest, has come out.

Because you see, Jesus is prophet, priest, and king.

When he was here on this earth, he was our Messiah and he was a prophet.

But when he went to heaven, he became our great high priest seated at the right hand of the throne of God But do you realize Jesus is not going to be high priest seated at the right hand of the throne of God forever There is a day that is coming when the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven will be opened and Jesus Christ as King of kings and Lord of lords is coming out of that temple.

Let's not live as if we have another hundred years before Jesus is coming out.

Because a day is coming when the temple of the tabernacle of the testimony in heaven will be open and the temple will be filled with smoke from the glory of God and from His power.

And the question is, why is it that smoke filled the temple of God?

I wanna take you to a passage in the Old Testament that will give us a greater understanding of what is taking place here.

And here we read, and this is speaking of the dedication of the temple that Solomon built.

Now people call it Solomon's Temple, this was God's temple, okay?

And the priest brought in the ark of the covenant of the Lord into his place, into the oracle of the house, to the most holy place, even under the wings of the cherubims.

For the cherubim spread forth their 2 wings over the place of the ark, and the cherubims covered the ark and the staves thereof above.

And they drew out the staves, that the ends of the staves were seen out in the holy place before the oracle, and they were not seen without, and there they are unto this day.

Verse 9, there was nothing in the ark save the 2 tables of stone which Moses put there at Horeb when the Lord made a covenant with the children of Israel when they came out of the land of Egypt.

And it came to pass when the priests were come out of the holy place, that the cloud filled the house of the Lord, so that the priests could not stand to minister because of the cloud, for the glory of the Lord had filled the house of the Lord." Now do you see the connection from 1st Kings 8 with what we saw in Revelation 15?

In 1st Kings chapter 8, the priests enter into the Most Holy Place to place the Ark of the Covenant with the Law of God in that Most Holy Place.

This work typically took place where they would go into the Most Holy Place, that was always done on the Day of Atonement.

Now this was a special service with the dedication of the temple, but they were in the Most Holy Place, they completed the work that the high priest must do in the most holy place.

Then they came back out through the holy place, and when they came out of the holy place into the outer courtyard, that is when smoke filled the temple with the glory of the Lord.

And what Revelation 15 is telling us is that Jesus, our great high priest, according to Revelation 11, 19, has been in the most holy place as our high priest on the anti-typical day of atonement doing a special work of cleansing in the sanctuary.

But he's not going to stay in the most holy place forever just as the priests in the Old Testament did not stay in the most holy place forever.

When their work was finished on the day of atonement, they came out.

And the passage in 1 Kings 8 tells us that when the work in the most holy place was finished, smoke from the glory of the Lord filled the temple.
