What All Women Should Know About God

I am very very happy to see you and I want to give you the guarantee that God will bless you For your presence here this evening.

This is guaranteed on the authority of God's Word He will bless you for your presence here this evening.

Okay, now what town did I leave out in the nearby vicinity?

Well, how many of you are from that town?

We will be meeting every night except what nights?

We won't be here but we will be back in this place at the same time on Sunday evening for more of freedom from fear.

Before we go any further, let us bow our heads and pray.

Our loving Father in heaven, Jesus said in John 16, 14, How be it when he the Spirit of truth has come, he will guide you into all truth.

Father, in the name of Jesus, guide us into truth, I pray.

Grant to me the right words and to your sons and daughters who have come, enlighten minds that the truth may triumph.

Our subject for tonight is, what all women should know about God What all women should know about God and I want all men to eavesdrop while we're telling women what they should know about God.

Everyone has heard the word God and we have varying views of who God is or for some people what God is for others what is his or her gender There are many, many questions about God, who He is, what He does, and how He does it.

Now let's go with me to Isaiah chapter fifty-five and we shall read verses 8 and 9.

We're happy to see those of you who are coming in.

And they look comfortable from my vantage point.

God says, for my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are my ways your ways saith the Lord.

For as the heavens are higher than the earth so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts now what does God mean by this simply this God is vastly different from us Absolutely different and the only description God can give of this difference that makes sense to us is to express it in terms of the difference of the distance between heaven and earth and so God says as the heavens are higher than the earth.

Isaiah 55 verse 9 so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts but having said that the Bible also calls upon us to know God.

It is not that God does not know how to make up his mind.

But he also wants us to understand that there is a lot about him He desires us to know.

Now when you were dating or perhaps you are dating, people date presumably for the purpose of what?

You want to see the person under pressure.

You want to see the person in a social setting.

You want to see the person in the church setting.

You want to see the person in the company of your friends.

You want to see the person in the company of your family, in the person's family presence.

We want to get to know that person in order to decide do I want to marry this person or should I put an end to this sad story as soon as possible.

Now God says to us I want you to get to know me.

And our subject is what all women should know about God.

God does not desire to be a thorough mystery in our lives.

Now let us look at some examples in Scripture of the Bible calling upon us to know.

I don't hear the pages of the Bible turning.

Perhaps I'll hear more pages from Sunday night on.

I like to hear the pages of the Bible turning.

If you don't know what I mean, I mean this.

There's a beautiful music in the house of God.

Do you not know that the saints shall judge the world?

Do you not know what he's actually saying is you ought to know that there's coming a day when the Saints shall judge the world.

Knowing not that we shall judge angels says Paul.

Knowing not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God?

Again, Paul seems a little surprised that the saints did not know.

Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ?

Know ye not that he which is joined to a harlot is 1 body?

Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost?

So Paul is saying members of the church there are things you ought to know.

Who Has Your Back?

I am very very pleased to see you here tonight.

I realize you could be spending your time elsewhere but I want to assure you you have made an intelligent decision to be here where the word of God is spoken because God's word has power to bring about all kinds of miracles in the lives of those who receive it by faith.

I am sure that God will bless us all as we worship him through the spoken word.

Before I go any further, who is here tonight for the first time?

Those of you returning for the second time, may I see your hands?

The Bible says, He that endures to the end shall be saved.

So I want you to endure 1 night at a time.

You can use it in all aspects of your life.

I don't want you to say, you know, I can't come to every meeting You mustn't say that if you say that you mentally predispose yourself not to come here is what you must say What must I do in?

What must I do in order to be here tomorrow night?

Then you say I have to leave work half an hour early.

I have to maybe take time off, then you decide these are the things I need to do in order to be present tomorrow night.

But do not say, I cannot be here tomorrow night, then you create a negative state of mind and it may become a self-fulfilling prophecy much to my sadness if I don't see you tomorrow night.

Let's review what we talked about last night.

What women should know about God and what is that in 1 sentence?

We discovered last night that the Creator is Jesus Christ.

Colossians 1 verse 16, For by him were all things created that are in heaven and that are in earth visible and invisible whether they be thrones or dominions or principalities or powers all things were created by him and for him and we discovered in verse 17 and He is before all things and by Him all things consist.

And since God saves the way he creates through his word then that which he saves he is able to sustain and maintain.

That's why a person need have no fear about giving the life to Jesus Christ because Christ is an expert in taking care of that which is his.

And so last night what every woman and every man should know about God.

Tonight our subject is who has your back?

And everyone wants to know that there's someone who supports him or her.

No 1 wants to walk through this world alone or supported by weaklings and people who cannot help them.

Our loving Father in heaven, We have come to this place for 1 reason only and that is to lift you up through the spoken word.

I ask in the name of Jesus to remember the words you spoke to Moses when you said to him in Exodus 4 verse 12, Now therefore go and I will be with thy mouth and teach thee what thou shall say.

Father from my heart teach me what I should say and open the hearts of those who are listening that they may receive the words of truth gladly.

I offer this prayer in Jesus name and for his sake amen.

Why was it necessary for Jesus to die and not perhaps an angel?

Whether it be God the Father, God the Son, or God the Holy Ghost.

I'm pleased to see those of you who are coming in.

There are some seats nearby where you are.

I will give you some reasons why it was necessary for 1 equal with God himself to give his life.

Now in order for us to understand that we must first define this thing called sin.

The Bible gives us a definition in 1 John chapter 3 verse 4.

Well yes John, but there are several Johns in the Bible.

Yes, the 1 who describes himself as the disciple whom Jesus loved.

He wrote the Gospel of John, he wrote 1st John, he wrote 2nd John, he wrote 3rd John and he wrote Revelation.

Now in reading the Bible you may come across examples of sin but there is 1 biblical definition of sin and that is sin is the transgression of the law.

In James chapter 4 verse 17 the Bible says, therefore to him that knoweth to do good and doeth it not, it is sin.

That is an example of saying knowing good and not doing it, that is sin.

In 1st John chapter 5 verse 17 the Bible says all unrighteousness is sin.

The definition is sin is the transgression of the law.

I'm not a scientist so please don't laugh at my definition of an animal.

Why is God Unemployed?

I hope you had a pleasant day and that the traffic did not make your lives too miserable.

This is the third night in the series Freedom from Fear 2006.

What was our subject on the opening night?

What every woman should know about God or about Jesus.

And our subject for tonight is why is God unemployed?

And believe you me, in the lives of millions, perhaps billions, God is out of work.

And we have to find out why it is that He is out of work.

All those who are here for the first time tonight, may I see your hands?

Those of you who are here for the third consecutive time, May I see your hands?

I think I can say with certainty and surety that God will bless you for your presence here tonight at this meeting.

Let me encourage you during the day, invite your friends.

Tell them to come not to hear me, but to hear the Word of God.

It is not the man primarily, but it is the message.

Yes, the man counts to some degree, but it is chiefly and primarily the message.

Having said that, let's bow our heads again.

Loving Father in heaven, I would think of the words of David in 2 Samuel chapter 23 verse 2, where he said, The Spirit of the Lord spake by me and His word was in my tongue.

Lord, I'm asking You with all my heart, put Your words in my tongue and put understanding into the minds of Your sons and daughters who are gathered here before You.

How many of you have ever submitted a resume when you applied for a job?

A resume, you may call it a CV, we all have had the experience of writing resumes, preparing our CVs, trying to make the very best impression we possibly can on a prospective employer.

And I believe you have had the experience I have had in producing a CV or resume that makes us appear as just 1 step below God in our accomplishments and our abilities and our talents and our skill set to use organizational language.

We produce the very best CVs we possibly can.

We write, we research our backgrounds and we express, we write down how much managerial experience we have had, whether it be at IBM or McDonald's.

And we dress it up in such a way that the impression we desire to convey is to the employer I cannot afford to miss this person this person must become a part of my workforce And we print it on the finest paper we can find.

We go to Kinko's and have them do the printing.

We have it typed on the outside and we deliver it in the hopes that the impression made by the CV will be irresistible.

Because God has applied to the world for a position.

A position for which very few people see fit to hire him despite the spectacular contents of his CV.

God's resume as we continue with the message, Why is God unemployed?

I was told earlier today that I need to give you more time to find the Bible verses how much time do you need to find Genesis 1?

The Bible says, in the beginning, say it with me, in the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

That is the summary statement of God's resume.

Now our resume is we have a summary statement what it is you want at the top then we elaborate we itemize.

God's summary statement is at the beginning of his resume, his CV, his document to impress us about his eminent employability is in the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Now we may say well God can you give us some details as to how you did that before we make a decision whether to hire your services or not.

God said fine In 6 days I made everything you see.

The first day I said let there be light and there was light and God saw the light that it was good and God divided the light from the darkness and God called the light day and the darkness he called night and the evening on the morning with the first day that's God's first recorded accomplishment in his CV then he goes on to the second day when he made the firmament and the third day vegetation the fourth day the Sun the moon the stars the fifth day the creatures of the sea and the birds of the air, the sixth day the land animals, mankind.

Then God rested and God says to this world this is my resume this is my curriculum vitae on the basis of this do you regard me as employable in your life tragically most people say no let me repeat that Most people say no to God's application as Savior in their lives.

Now why is it people find it so difficult to trust God to trust the contents of his resume?

If he required blind faith the Bible would not begin with Genesis 1.

It would simply begin with he that cometh to God must believe that he is and he's a reward of them that diligently seek him.

A statement on faith but the Bible begins with a statement of action, a statement of works, a statement of divine activity.

Then it elaborates the details of that activity and the message, the appeal is on the basis of this.

Can you include me in your life to direct you, to guide you, and ultimately to save you?

Genesis 1 3 is really 1 of my favorite verses.

It says, and God said, let there be light.

And throughout God's resume, this statement recurs.

Genesis 1 3, and God said, let there be light.

Genesis 1 6 and God said let there be a firmament.

Genesis 1 9 and God said let the waters under the heavens.

Genesis 1 11 God said let the earth bring forth grass.

Verse 14 let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night.

Verse 20, let the waters bring forth abundantly.

Verse 24, let the earth bring forth the living creature.

Throughout his resume he said, he said, he said.

So that in reading this resume you come away with the impression that God's ability and abilities apparently are concentrated in God said.

God's abilities I say are concentrated in the expression and God said now this does not mean that God loves to babble We love to talk as people and that's good.

There's a story in the Bible of an animal talking in Numbers chapter 23 Balaam's donkey.

People talk But God's talk, different from ours, is that God's talk uniformly and invariably produces results.

God's talk, God's word, the operative element of his resume and I must repeat that God said God said God said God said how does God do he does by saying now that may seem like a contradiction but it isn't not God did God did God did God said then something happened And so the key phrase in God's resume is God said now.

The elaboration of God said, The details of God said are designed to build in us unshakable confidence in God said.

Do something for me take out your wallets.

A wallet need not be full to be a wallet.

There are empty wallets like mine and there are full ones like yours.

You see there's a God said and there's a I said.

Now we will say, let there be a million dollars in my wallet.

Just raise the wallet just this high so I can see, just this high or your purse or somebody else's purse.

Now let's say together, let there be a million dollars in my wallet.

Poor Satan

In other words, that's my way of saying I missed you.

Did anyone think of me for 5 seconds today?

So, I'm very delighted that you thought of me.

I really did think of you and I pray that God will bless us tonight as we embark upon another adventure in his words.

You have the assurance that God will bless you for your presence here tonight.

You know he gets the blame for almost everything we do that's wrong.

Many years ago, those of you who are old enough, you perhaps remember the comedy on television called the Flip Wilson show.

In his show, Flip had an expression that became popular all over the country.

Tonight, I will show you that that is not the case.

The devil cannot make you or me do anything that we do not elect and choose to do.

Satan does not have a gun he puts to our heads.

We have to exercise the choice to go with him or a choice to go against him.

But certainly I need to say that not all things we do that are wrong are the result of the devil's temptations.

Loving Father in heaven, we come to you in the name of Jesus.

We have been invited in Hebrews chapter 4 verse 16, let us come boldly to the throne of grace where we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

I ask you from my heart and in the name of Jesus, grant to me what I need, and that is the enlightenment of your Holy Spirit.

And grant to my brothers and sisters what they need, and that is understanding of your divine word.

Do this for us, we pray, And we will give you the glory.

We offer this prayer in Jesus' name and for his sake.

Reading verses 16 and 17 of Genesis chapter 2.

By the way, all those of you who brought Bibles, raise them, let me see.

Contrary to what I see when I travel around the world, the habit of bringing Bibles to church with people is fading away.

And I'm glad to see most of us have our Bibles with us.

The Bible says, And the Lord God commanded the man saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat, but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil thou shalt not eat of it, for in the day thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Now the Bible says the wages of sin is death.

That has always been the penalty for sin.

Ezekiel 18 4 says the soul that sinneth it shall die.

So effectively what God was telling Adam in Genesis 2 16 17 in the day that you sin you will die because any action contrary to God's will is sin.

If you do you die And since death is the wages of sin, then what God was telling Adam is, if you sin, you will die.

If you eat of the tree, contrary to my will and my word, then you have sinned and the punishment for that is death.

Now, many people ask the question, what was so horrible about Adam's sin?

And for people who are vegetarians, many of you are, perhaps you don't see the horrible nature of that sin, eating a fruit.

Let us examine how truly catastrophic and insulting and horrible Adam's sin was.

In Genesis 1 31 the Bible says, And God saw everything that he had made and behold it was what?

Very good now that included everything from day 1 to day 6 including Adam and Eve including the wedding which God at which he officiated when he made man and woman husband and wife on that sixth day of creation.

Adam was made with a heart that had no desire to do wrong.

When Adam came from the hand of his Creator there was nothing in him that leaned towards sin.

Adam's mind was so connected with the mind of his Creator that when we read Genesis chapter 2 verse 19, let's go there, That verse gives us a remarkable revelation of how united Adam's mind was with the mind of his Creator.
