You are about to enjoy a presentation recorded at the 2024 Michigan Conference Camp Meeting held at Cedar Lake, Michigan.

We pray that the Lord will bless you as you listen.

Father in Heaven, as we begin our study again today, we invite your Holy Spirit to be here.

Lord, we are pleading with you for the return of Jesus and especially for the return of the latter reign that will prepare us for the return of Jesus.

We know that we are compacting a lot of information and a lot of what you've done in our past into just a brief period of minutes, literally.

I pray that we might all go home and be challenged to study more deeply and especially to develop a closer relationship with Jesus that you have been longing for us to have.

And I pray that you will bless our study now, in Jesus' name, Amen.

So we left off yesterday talking a little bit about the Minneapolis meetings, which I want to pick up and continue on today.

And I'll pick up a little bit of where we were and then launch into the rest of it.

Again, I reminded you that The Return of the Lateran is an absolute must-read.

And if you cannot, For whatever reason, you can't read the whole book, you must at least read chapters 3 and 4.

As I mentioned last time, when we had the background of all the things that were going on in the civil liberty area that A.T.

Jones was placing his emphasis on, along with his emphasis and Wagner's emphasis on the message of righteousness by faith, Christ our righteousness, justification by faith, all that they were talking about.

They placed that emphasis, Jones was placing a lot of direct information in the hands of people relative to what was going on in the civil liberty world.

If you weren't able to be here on Monday especially, please be sure and get some of the material there.

I've mentioned a book as well and it'll be in some of the other notes that Jones wrote, but I don't have time to go back into all of that.

That whole setting of what was happening in the 1840s, 50s, 60s, and 1870s, and into the 1880s, was a transition that I dare say the devil was setting the stage for what he wanted to accomplish.

The devil knows prophecy so he knows what he's got to do to try to thwart what's coming, because he knows that what's coming is that God is preparing his people to finish this work, And his goal is to thwart that and defeat it.

And so in those days, with all that was going on in the political world and that whole experience, A.T.

Jones was preaching about those issues and helping people understand it and using the American Sentinel to be able to alert the world and the people around, not just Adventists, but what was going on and why, what the NRA was doing, National Reform Association, not rifle, and what he was trying to help them to realize how dangerous what was going on was.

But they were coming up to the time of the Blair Bill and the introduction of a constitutional amendment establishing the United States as a Christian nation, and all in the effort to try to defeat what was going on in the liberal world, and God was saying to His people, this is what I've been telling you about and now it's here.

But I don't want you to worry about that, that's My words.

I don't want you to worry about what's going on, be aware, but I want you to know that I am here and that your need is my salvation and my experience that I want to give to you.

So Ellen White talked about the measuring of the temple of the worshippers.

Remember we talked about it, she saw an angel standing with a measuring tape and as people came through into the going into the temple, they were being measured as to whether they could go in or not.

And that was all symbolic of the fact that God was trying to help his people and those that were preparing for the return of Jesus, that not just anybody was going to be ready.

It was only going to be those who were fully and completely surrendered to Christ.

Ellen White said, we should seek to have our actions of such a character that we will not shrink from having our Savior look upon them.

Christ is here this morning in this presentation she was giving on October 19.

Angels are here and they are measuring the temple of God and those who worship therein.

The history of this meeting will be carried up to God for a record of every meeting is made.

The spirit manifested, the words spoken and the actions performed are noted in the books of heaven.

It is amazing to me what had become a reality in the hearts of God's people and God's leaders and God's ministers.

And let me tell you that when I say these things, I keep looking and saying, wait a minute, I've been a leader, I am a minister, and I have to be listening to this.

They were gathered at the general conference and the only thing you got to do is bring a chair for yourself.

So When these meetings were taking place and Ellen White was being shown the evenings, in the evenings she was being shown what was taking place in the sleeping rooms of the ministers and what they were talking back and forth and making mockery of the of Jones and Wagner and of the message and all that they were hearing.

And then Ellen White would in the next morning would get up and stand in front of the ministers and say, this is what you were saying in your rooms.

Now, I don't know, I'm hoping that I would say, oh wait a minute, if she knew what was going on in the rooms, maybe God's trying to lead her to something.

But instead, what in reality happened is the minister started to rebel against Ellen White and actually began to consider her as becoming senile, old, and no longer a prophet of God because obviously she was going against what they believed.

I mean, I stagger to understand that, and I'm not making this up, folks.

I'm trying to be realistic, because the same thing can happen to us.

And the truth of the matter is the same thing is happening to us in many cases, and we don't really pay attention to it.

She said, here I want to tell you what a terrible thing it is.

If God gives light and it is impressed on your heart and spirit, for you do as they, the Jews, did, God will with, if you do what the Jews did, God will withdraw his spirit unless his truth is accepted.

She realized what was happening because the Spirit of God.

So she was warning about these things because the possibility of what she was warning about was very real.

She went on and saying now our meeting is drawing to a close.

The messages have been shared, the battles have been going on back and forth.

The attempts to try to bring about motions to say this is what we're going to believe and nothing else and Ellen White's warning them and doing all of that and I'll come back to that in a moment and she says now our meeting is drawing to a close and not 1 confession has been made There has not been a single break so as to let the Spirit of God in.

Now I was saying that what was the use of our assembling here together and for our ministering brethren to come in if they are here only to shut out the Spirit of God from the people?

Ellen White was not talking to herself or just to her son or a small little group of ministers.

She was talking to all of the people, including the delegates that were at that meeting.

And you know, I guess it's the same way that when we read these things, we don't pay attention to them.

This was serious, eternal, life-changing information that they were receiving.

And a warning was of the danger that they were facing and what would happen if they didn't.

That very night Ellen White decided to leave the conference, although there were only 10 days left for it.

Because her counsel was ignored and not heeded.

Ellen White endorsed Jones and Wagner's message.

She said, When Brother Wagner brought out these ideas, the matchless charms of Christ in Minneapolis, it was the first clear teaching on the subject from any human lips I'd heard, you heard me say this earlier, accepting the conversation between myself and my husband.

And when another presented it, every fiber of my heart said, Amen." But it was clear to Ellen White at Minneapolis that the real issue of the controversy wasn't the law in Galatians, but a new yet old message of the righteousness of Christ or righteousness by faith.

She recognized the message as that which the Lord was laying on her husband and her heart in 1882, 6 years before.

Thus she could but rejoice in the message being presented in 1888 and give her endorsement to the men that were bringing it in.

Now you notice I said 1882, but James died in 1881, so that was also happening before he died in their conversations.

Ellen White would sit in the front row when Wagner was preaching, but would get up and leave when Morrison made his presentations.

Morrison over here and he had on the board, he had his opinion and he signed it and he said to Jones and Wagner, now I want you to sign on this side and they refused.

So when Morrison got up, Ellen White would leave.

At any rate, it was her endorsement of the message and messages that brought about a rejection of her council at Minneapolis.

It was her support of the message that brought about the rejection.

That's how serious the situation had gotten.

The danger you and I face today is we are still struggling, and many people are struggling, to understand the role of Ellen White in God's remnant church.

It's still easy for people to say, oh, you don't need to listen to Ellen White.

Don't pay any attention to her, including on this subject, by the way.

Ellen White's endorsement continued, she said, This is from R.T.

White's attitude and words at the time it was plain that she stood 100% with Elders Jones and Wagner in the message they were presenting at the general conference meeting.

Nash attended this conference and in 1955, yes, 1955, he still remembered what Ellen White said and how she was behind Jones and Wagner 100%.

She said, this is Westfall now, I'm sorry, he said, I will relate what I remember of the 1888 General Conference.

It rings in my ears still how Sister White earnestly appealed to the conference to accept the message of justification by faith.
