Among the Prophets

We just ask for your Holy Spirit to please be with us.

Thank you, Lord, for being so willing to communicate with us.

It's quite powerful, Lord, that none of us could probably get ahold of the president of the United States of America.

We can't get a hold of the kings and queens of places around the world, but we could get a hold of the God of the universe.

And I'm sure the angels are quite depressed on how little we communicate with him.

Lord, I just pray with all my heart that you would please speak tonight.

Somehow, Father, I just pray that I would disappear and that Jesus would be lifted up so that we would all be drawn closer to you.

Father, I just pray this, and I ask for your special blessing upon us tonight.

All righty, if you knew you had a short time on earth before going to heaven, if you knew you had just a few years left, what would you be doing with your life?

If you knew your days were numbered, you just had a few years left before Christ was to come back, what would you be doing with your life?

Spending time with family, very important.

Any of you know what this brother Elijah did?

The last moments of his life before he was taken on a fiery chariot up to heaven.

Any of you know what he spent time doing?

The literally the last moments of his life before he was taken up to glory, what was Elijah doing?

Okay, I can't really make out what you're saying, but I'm sure you all are right.

In 2nd Kings chapter 2 verses 1 and 2 and 4, the Bible says, and it came to pass when the Lord was about to take up Elijah into heaven by a whirlwind, Elijah said to Elisha, stay here please for the Lord has sent me to where?

So moments before Elijah is being gonna gonna be taken up on a fiery chariot up to glory, moments before that happens God says I want you to do something.

I want you to visit Jericho and I want you to visit Jordan.

Now ladies and gentlemen, if you have any idea what's in those towns, what's in those cities, listen to what the Bible says.

The Bible says in chapter 2 verse 3, 5, and 7, Now the sons of the prophets who were at Bethel, Jericho, and 50 men of the sons of the prophets went and stood facing them at a distance, while the 2 of them stood by the Jordan.

So ladies and gentlemen, here is the last moments of Elijah's life on earth and what does God want him to do?

He doesn't want him to go before kings, governors and rulers of this earth.

He wants him to spend their his last moments at the school of the prophets.

So where do you want to be before Christ comes back?

What would you like to be doing before Jesus comes back?

I heard it already with someone responding.

Jesus said it best when he says, and this gospel the kingdom will be preached in all the world as a witness to all nations and then the end will what?

So friends, God has called each and every 1 of us to do what?

And friend, I don't know about you, but that's something that I would like to be doing in the last moments of my life.

Do you know that was the last things Paul was doing right before he died?

The Bible says in his prison room, in his house arrest, he was just talking about Jesus, the last moments of his life.

What else would you like to be doing the last moments of your life?

She says this, it is time to put your money out to the exchangers.

Time to place every dollar you could spare into the treasury of the Lord, that institutions may be erected for the education of workers who shall be instructed as were those who attended the school of the prophets." Listen to this.

If the Lord comes and finds you doing this kind of work, he will say, well done good and faithful servant, enter thou into the joy of the Lord.

She says if God comes down here and finds you right before he comes back, he finds you that you have been entrusted with money and you're giving it to the support of the schools of the prophets, we know what God's gonna say to you?

So 1 thing we understand, 1 thing that I want to be doing before Christ comes back is I want to be talking about Christ.

But then she says, maybe you don't have the skill to preach but do you have money?

Give it to schools that are training young men and young women to share the gospel.

What else would you be found doing before Christ comes back?

Going back to 2 Kings 6, looking at verse 1.

And the sons of the prophets said to Elisha, see now, the place where we dwell or we meet with you is too small for us.

Please let us go to the Jordan, let every man take a beam from there and let us make there a place where we may meet.

Ladies and gentlemen, do you recognize that according to scripture some of the last places that we could be at and should be at before Christ comes back is where we should be preaching the gospel wherever that may lead.

2, we should be supporting schools of the prophets.

What was Elijah doing in the last moments of his life?

Ladies and gentlemen, how many of you think that the schools of the prophets are an important role at the end of time?

You might be thinking, Does Christ, when Christ comes back, is it really a good place to be at school when He finds me?

I mean, is He going to say, I'm reading, I'm at some kind of school and God comes, He's coming and all of a sudden He sees me at a school and He says, well done good and faithful servant.

Do you think God is going to say that to you?

Well ladies and gentlemen, I would like to tell you that the schools of the prophets were a lot different than the schools of the day.

In essence, the schools of the prophets that should be and are erected today should be drastically different from the different schools all around us.

You see friends, it is a privilege to be part of a school of a prophet and you're gonna see why in just a second.

Elijah spent time in his last moments on earth visiting the schools of the prophets.
