Angel of the Covenant, Part 2

Last night we began to talk about the angel of the covenant.

And we began to look at scripture and highlighting this angel in Revelation chapter 10 that comes down from heaven clothed in a cloud.

And the reason why we began to look at these verses, the reason why we began to examine them was because we see in these days people leaving the Advent people.

People saying that this church is a cult, That this group of people, though I've been a Seventh-day Adventist for years, I saw, we read a letter last night, the Adventist minister said, I don't believe in this message anymore.

I don't believe in the spirit of prophecy.

I don't believe in the great controversy problem.

We looked at that and we said, well, is there any biblical reason why we as a people exist?

Are we any different from any of the other churches?

And we have to ask the question, because if we're not any different, we need to shut the doors today, amen?

If we are not any different, if our family name, Seventh-day Adventists, is not any different from anything else, then we need to shut the doors today.

So we're gonna review, and I only have a short time.

We're gonna review this morning, Book of Revelation.

And you can see here on the screen, we looked up the cloud.

And what last night, those of you here last night, help out those who are new this morning.

What does a cloud represent in the Bible?

Divinity is the only person that's ever come in a cloud.

Go through all the scripture, you'll see only divinity comes in a cloud.

We looked at a cloud and a rainbow together and that cloud and rainbow together represented what?

So this angel that comes down is no regular angel.

This angel that comes down is a messenger, and he is divine.

He has an everlasting covenant that he wants to share with his people.

We said the face being like the sun is God's enduringness, his everlastingness.

Remember we read about Moses, Moses' face when he went into the presence of God?

We read in Matthew 17, 22, Jesus was transfigured and his face shone like the what?

We saw in Revelation chapter 1, 12 through 16, that God, Jesus, is in the midst of the 7 golden candlesticks.

And as he's standing there in the midst of the golden candlesticks, it says his face shone like the sun.

We know that this angel in Revelation chapter 10 is none other than Jesus.

Tell me class, pillars of fire represented what?

God leading his people through the darkness of time.

We said that his feet was on the earth and the sea.

And we saw that in the Bible, there's a beast that came out of the sea and a beast that comes out of the earth.

These powers are antagonistic to what God has claimed for himself.

I thought this was beautiful, in my opinion.

When he roars like a lion, God is speaking.

And he is then troubling those who trouble God's people.

When the lion roars, he's saying, look, stop messing with my children.

And also, when a lion roars, somebody must prophesy.

We saw that in Amos chapter 3, verse 4 and verse 8, that when a lion roars, someone must prophesy.

In Revelation 10, you're there already, actually.

In Revelation 10, and look carefully at verse number 3.

And it says, he cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roars, and when he had cried, 7 thunders uttered their what?

And we looked at those 7 thunders and those 7 thunders, at least 1 verse, let's look at a couple of verses this morning, at least 1 verse in Exodus chapter 20 in verse 18.

We've asked the question this morning, why does God delay his coming?

Exodus chapter 20, and we're looking at verse number 18.

And all the people saw the thunderings and the lightnings and the noise of the trumpet and the mountain smoking.

And when the people saw it, they removed it to the far.

And they said unto Moses, speak thou with us and we will hear, But let not God speak with us.

So when God is speaking in the sound of a thunder, The people are like, look, I don't want you to talk.

And remember, now, Moses is a type of Jesus.

Remember, Moses covered his face with a veil.

Being the glory of God, the people didn't want to come close to Moses because his light was so radiant and it reflected the reality of the sinfulness of the people.

Now the 7 thunders uttering their voices, now I don't want to go here yet.

I want us to go back to Revelation chapter 10.

In Revelation 10, we see in verse 5, and we're going to take our time here, verse 4.

And it says, and when the 7 thunders uttered their voices, I was about to write, and I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, seal up those things which the 7 thunders uttered and write them not.

So John is about to write what the 7 thunders said And someone says, don't write it.

Don't write out the prophecy that was here stated under the 7 thunders.

And the angel which I saw stand upon the sea and upon the earth, lifted up his hand to heaven, and swear by him that liveth forever and ever, who created heaven, and the things therein are, and the earth, and the things therein are, and the earth and the things therein are, and the sea and the things which are therein, that there should be, " what?
