Tonight's presentation is titled Giving Glory to Him.

As we've been talking about the 3 angels' messages in the book of Revelation, we talked about the book of Revelation and how Revelation chapter 1, verse 1, tells us that it's a revelation of who?

And we saw that yes, revelation talks about beasts, and it talks about the mark of the beast, and it talks about 7 last plagues, and it talks about all these things that sound cryptic and scary.

However, the very first verse of the book tells us something important to consider, that the revelation is a revelation of Jesus Christ.

And so as we study the book of Revelation, who should we be interacting with and seeing in scripture?

And I challenge everyone on the opening night that if you ever go to a prophecy seminar where you're looking at Daniel and Revelation and these passages and you walk away not learning or seeing Jesus, it probably was not a complete presentation.

Jesus should be at the core, should be at the center of these things.

And so we talked about the importance of Bible prophecy, we talked about some principles on how to study the scripture, and then we introduced our 3 angels' messages.

This passage is found in Revelation chapter 14 verse 6 through 13.

Now out of the whole book of Revelation, out of the 22 chapters, out of the 408 verses that are in the book of Revelation, why this handful of verses that I picked to study?

And we talked about this on our opening night, that the 3 angels' messages end with a powerful scene.

See, Revelation chapter 14, 6 through 13, is your 3 angels' messages and the work that they're accomplishing.

But then we got to chapter 14 verse 14 through 16 and we saw that it describes someone coming on the clouds after the 3 angels messages had accomplished their work.

And we saw that when we looked at and compared scripture with scripture, we saw that the person who comes on the clouds was none other than Jesus Christ himself.

And so the conclusion of the 3 angels' messages was that Christ would return.

How many of you want Jesus to come back, amen?

I do too, so I don't have to pay off that medical school debt, amen?

And so we saw that this was Jesus that it was talking about.

It said that he was coming on the clouds and he had a sickle in his hand and he was gonna reap and he commanded the angel to thrust in the sickle to reap.

He said for the harvest of the earth is ripe.

So then we asked ourselves the question, what does this harvest represent?

And we looked at Matthew chapter 13 where Jesus gave the parable of the sower and described how there was the good man who sowed good seed, which represented the sons and daughters of the kingdom of God.

And there was an enemy, Satan, who sowed bad seed, which represented the sons and daughters of the wicked 1.

And then it said that there was a harvest that took place in Matthew chapter 13, verse 39.

And it told us that the harvest represented the end of the world.

And then it proceeded to describe the second coming of Jesus.

This is important because in Revelation chapter 14, verse 14 through 16, and I'm going through it pretty quickly.

This was all on our first night, so if you missed that, you wanna know more information, if you come up and see me, I can probably send you the Bible verses that we studied that night so you can look over them yourself, or I can answer questions about it if you have those questions.

But we saw that the 3 angels' messages conclude with the second coming of Jesus.

That means that these 3 angels flying in the midst of heaven, declaring their messages to the world, were preparing the world for Jesus to return.

I don't know about you, but that tells me they're probably pretty important to understand, amen?

Because I want to be part of the harvest that gets reaped by Jesus.

I don't want to be part of the harvest that's left behind.

Then on our second evening, we began our study of the first angel.

They prepare the world, they prepare us individually and personally for Christ to return.

And we saw that the first part of the first angel was saying with a loud voice, fear God.

And we talked about this idea of what it meant to fear God.

And I gave an illustration of being a child, you know, when I was a kiddo and I had a fear of my dad when I was doing bad things.

It was because my dad had the power to take this leather device that kind of was up there on the wall, on the shelf, and that leather device would just sit there and whenever me and my brothers were acting like we shouldn't be acting, my dad would clear his throat, take 1 glance at that belt, he would take 1 glance at us, and then 1 glance at the belt again, and look back at us, and typically, we would cease what we were doing.

And I talked about how when we think of the idea of fear, we think of the idea of being scared.

And I gave that illustration to show like, I was scared in that moment because I knew that if I did wrong, my dad had power to punish me.

And then when I became a Christian as an adult, and I read that we're supposed to fear God, I was like, that makes sense.

I should be afraid of God, because God has the power to punish me for my sins.

And I would approach God with this idea of, wow, yeah, I believe God is real.

I kind of don't want to go to hell, so I kind of should follow God.

Are you tracking with how I was thinking?

But as we studied this phrase together, we saw this phrase was not describing a person who is fearful, intrepidacious, and scared of God.

We saw that there was 3 principles that can be found through Scripture on what it means to fear God.

First, the foundation of fearing God was actually not being afraid of God but standing in awe of God, being captivated by the Creator.

The Bible tells us because there is what with him?

Forgiveness with him, you should be or thou mayest be.

You don't fear God because he can punish you, you actually fear God because he can forgive you.

That's a little bit different than we normally think of when we think of the word fear.

Like I can promise you when I saw my dad with the belt, I never said, dad, I'm afraid that you're gonna forgive me.

I promise, I never said it like that, right?

So it shows me that when we read the Bible, we can't just assume we know what these words mean, like Fear, fear God.

We need to study the Bible and let the Bible interpret itself, amen?

Let them tell us how this word is meant to be used and understood because we are to stand in awe of Jesus.

And we saw forgiveness took place at the cross.

We're most captivated by God at the cross.

When you behold Jesus dying for your sins, when you see someone laying down his life who doesn't deserve to die, that you might have a chance to live who does not deserve eternal life, and that was the 1 who actually created you, it just captivates the mind.

We saw that those who fear God and have an experience with Jesus at the cross have a unique response to evil and to wickedness.

To fear God is also to feel what about evil?

Not to think it's bad, that's part of it, but to actually hate evil.

And not just to hate evil, but then to what?

And we saw that it was through the cross, through the power of Jesus and the love of God laying down his life for us, that it helps us to see that sin doesn't just hurt me.

Sin actually hurts the 1 who loved me and died for me.

And it's through spending time beholding Jesus on the cross that we begin to develop not just a understanding that sin is wrong, but an actual hatred of the sin itself.

And when we start to hate something, you tend to stop doing it.

I mean, again, the illustration I think, or the idea I gave was, how many of you are excited to go do something that you hate doing?

Like you're just like, oh man, today we're going where?

Oh, I hate that place, I can't wait to go.

When you hate something, how do you respond to something you hate?

You kinda wanna move away from it, right?

This is why God wants us to hate evil and to hate sin because it's only when you hate sin, you actually decide to turn away from it.

And right now, when we know it's just wrong, I mean, we turn away from it sometimes, but then sometimes we kinda go back to it because we don't hate it, we just know it's wrong.

I guarantee, if I were to ask you, should you eat McDonald's every night, you're like, absolutely not.

And then I drive by McDonald's at 10 p.m.

And I see you going through the drive-thru and I'm like, have mercy, Lord.

You can know something's wrong, but if you still like it or enjoy it or take pleasure in it, you're going to what?
