Restoration 2025: Revelation Speaks Life

Worship Him

All right, that being said, tonight's presentation is not called the Hour of His Judgment.

I was only partway through updating my slides before this all happened.

Tonight's presentation is entitled, Worship Him.

Let me make sure I actually have the right slides open.

So for those who have been studying with us night after night, we know that we've been studying about what messages in the book of Revelation?

That was part of it, that was part of it.

But we've been studying the 3 angels' messages of Bible prophecy.

We've been looking at the 3 angels' messages of the book of Revelation.

These 3 angels are found in Revelation 14, verses 6 through 13.

Revelation chapter 14, verses 6 through 13.

And we described how these were important messages.

These were key messages because these were messages that were to prepare the world for what great event?

For those who have been coming night after night.

You all have burritos in your mouth, I saw that.

That's all right, I'll give you a second, I'll ask you again.

So the 3 angels' messages were intended to prepare the world for what great event?

I'll give you a clue for those who need help.

I saw people gulp down the burrito and get it out.

And so this is why the 3 angels messages are so important, my friends, and so critical for us.

And so the next part of the 3 angels' message that we're gonna look at is Revelation chapter 14, beginning in verse 7.

We're still on the first angel, I promise.

We will get to the third angel by the weekend.

We will get there eventually, but we're still in the first angel.

We saw that the first angel said, saying with a loud voice, fear God and give glory to him for the hour of his Judgment is come and worship Him who made heaven, the earth, the sea, and the fountains of waters.

And so the next phrase we wanna talk about is this idea of worship Him.

Worship Him, but it's not just worship Him in a generic sense, and we're gonna see that, because it says, worship Him as, or worship Him that, depending on your translation, that made the heavens and the earth.

In other words, worship Him as the creator.

So we'll be talking about that this evening.

So our first point that I wanna talk about is that the last day issue in the book of Revelation is actually an issue of worship.

You know, there's a lot of movies out there.

A lot of people like to take something like the book of Revelation and make lots of movies about what they suppose might happen at the end of time, what they think might happen at the end of time.

And it's interesting because I've seen some of these movies and they really like to hype up like the wars and the plagues and all these things, but they never seem to focus on what the Bible actually says is the main point.

That the real issue is not an issue of atheism versus Christianity or some war in the Middle East, it's actually just simply an issue of worship.

Let me show it to you from the scriptures.

Revelation 14, verse 7, the third angel, the first angel of the 3 angels actually said to do what?

So it was important enough to prepare the world for the second coming of Jesus that the angel actually had to say, "'Worship God as the creator.'" So it's important enough for that reason, but notice this, later on in verse 9, the third angel, which we will get to eventually, says this.

The third angel followed him, saying with a loud voice, if anyone, key word, worships the beast and his image and receives his mark on his forehead or in his hand.

And then it proceeds to give the warning, the judgment to those who receive the mark of the beast.

But notice what the issue here in Revelation 14 verse 9 is, it was, if anyone, keyword, worships the beast.

So it's really an issue of who will you worship?

Will you worship the Lamb of God or will you worship the beast?

Revelation is all about this simple fact at the end of time, who will you worship?

In fact, yes, amen, by God's grace, amen.

So Revelation chapter 13, notice this, this is a chapter all about the Antichrist, the beast and the mark of the beast.

And I want you to notice, I took a few verses from chapter 13, which is all about Satan's last attack on planet earth.

And notice what keeps getting repeated multiple times.

They, key word, worshipped the dragon who gave authority to the beast and they worshipped the beast saying, jump to verse 8, all who dwell on the earth will worship him whose names have not been written in the book of life.

Verse 12, he causes the earth and those who dwell therein to worship the first beast whose deadly wound was healed.

Verse 15, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.

Question, What's the issue at the end of days?

It comes down to this idea of will you worship the beast or will you worship him that made the heavens and the earth, the creator?

Because that's what Revelation is saying, worship Him who made the heaven and the earth, right?

So who is this that did such a thing as make the heavens and the earth?

The Bible says here in John chapter 1, verse 1, 2, and 3, In the beginning was the who?

Now that's a powerful phrase right there.

Verse 2, he was in the beginning with God and all things were made through Him, the Word, and without Him, the Word, nothing was made that was made." In other words, this is such a cool name.

That sounds like such a, that's just like a powerful name, right?

If it exists, if it is created, who made it?

Now this is powerful, because has anyone here ever been to like, like the Hubble telescope and seen some of the space exhibits, anyone seen some of, yeah, right?

Anyone here fascinated with outer space like me where you can just like captivated by the stars?

Anyone here was super excited you could see like Mars and Venus and Jupiter recently, right?

Yeah, every night I'm like looking for them, like There they are, it's just so cool to see that.

I love the idea of the universe, because here's the thing.

The word breathed all that into existence.

Like the same creator being described here in this passage said, and the universe, the cosmos, the endless reaches of space and all the beautiful majestic sights that can be seen out there were all made by the word.

Revelation’s Good News

I'm so glad that you're here tonight and I know you came you came to hear the Word of the Lord and you just happen to get Thai food amen?

It's okay if you came for the Thai food too that's alright.

So I'm so glad that you're here tonight for our restoration every year at Loma Linda University.

My name is Anthony Baca, for those that do not know me.

I'm a third year medical student here at Loma Linda University, so most of my time is actually spent studying, but I'm grateful to be on an outpatient rotation right now that will allow me to be here this week to share these presentations.

We actually had another speaker originally lined up to share these presentations.

If you saw the promo video, you might be aware Weston White was supposed to be our presenter for this series.

However, and he's very public about this so I can share this so you can keep him in prayer.

He had a reoccurrence of his cancer and so He's actually in the midst of getting chemotherapy.

You do not know how passionate he was to be here.

He was like, despite being weak, he's like, I wanna go preach the word of the Lord.

I was like, it's okay, brother, I'll do it, it's okay.

So hopefully we'll get him here to come visit us in the near future once he recovers by faith.

But if you think of Wesney, please keep him in prayer throughout this time.

And so we're gonna be talking about the book of Revelation.

Tonight, my goal is simply to lay a foundation.

So that we can build upon it and we can study the book of Revelation because I know that we're coming with a variety of backgrounds and knowledge of the Scriptures and I understand this.

I understand that some people are coming who've been studying the Scriptures for 30, 40, 50 years.

You have a wealth of knowledge of scripture.

And that's very helpful when it comes to the book of Revelation, because the majority of Revelation, out of the 408 Bible verses in Revelation, the majority of them are direct quotes and allusions from the Old Testament.

And so that wealth of Bible knowledge helps with studying Revelation.

But I know some here today, maybe a friend brought you and you just came for some Thai food and now you're hearing about this for the first time.

And that's okay, we're glad you're here too, right?

And so instead of just diving into the meat, diving into the book of Revelation and getting into it right away, I want to spend some time building a foundation so we can all have a platform on which to build our understanding of the book of Revelation.

So tonight may be more of that, more principles on how to study, how to get into Revelation, And I promise as we progress through the series, we will get more into the book of Revelation itself.

That being said, if you can bow your heads with me as I pray and we will begin our study.

Father in heaven, Thank you so much for the privilege that we have to come here this evening to take a break from our busy weeks to study the word of God.

And we invite your Holy Spirit to be our guest of honor to speak to us individually and personally to open our minds, our eyes, and our ears that we would see, hear, and behold wonderful things in your word tonight.

Bless us to this end, glorify yourself, lift up Christ, and help us to know him more as we study.

So when we talk about the book of Revelation, you know, when people think of Revelation, they think of a key word that typically comes to mind right away, and that word is?

Prophecy, yeah, there you go, right there, right?

And when we think of prophecy in the Bible, some of us may have different ideas of what that might mean.

So let's start with the basic definition of what prophecy means.

Prophecy, in the biblical use, the way I'm gonna use it in this seminar, prophecy is speaking specifically to a prediction of a future event before the event actually occurs.

So it's not talking about something in the past per se, but it's something written prior to the fulfillment of the thing that is written, and then as time progresses, that thing will eventually occur.

Did you know the Bible is full of prophecy?

When you look at the scriptures, the Bible, When you compare it to other predictions that exist in the world, like Nostradamus and many other philosophers and acclaimed prophets in time, unlike them, the Bible has actually been accurate over the last 3, 500 years when it comes to Bible prophecy.

And in fact, out of the 800 or so prophetic Bible verses that exist in scripture, about 90% of them, scholars suggest, have already reached their fulfillment, and only approximately 10% are yet to be fulfilled, and these 10% are typically found in the books of Daniel, Revelation, and other portions that speak to the end of time.

He's a professor at the University of Chicago Divinity.

And this was about a decade old, this quote.

So I'm sure it speaks more true today than it did back then.

But he wrote and said, over the past 30 years, more scholarship has been devoted to apocalypticism.

I apologize, I don't like big words, but I was quoting, so I had to put it in there.

That just means the study of last day events, like books like Revelation and Daniel, and things that speak about the end of the world.

In other words, in the last 30 years, more people are becoming interested in this subject than were interested in the previous 300 years.

As we continue to progress into the future, I think we would all agree that we kind of live in strange and unusual times.

Things are not the same today as they were 30 years ago.

And as things change in the world, it drives people to ask the big questions, like where are we going?

Does the Bible actually speak to future events and what it means to be ready for the end of the world?

And more people have become increasingly interested in this subject, according to this individual.

So let's talk about Bible prophecy for a quick moment.

We're gonna tangent our first principle that we're gonna talk about tonight.

Why did God even put this in Scripture for us to even consider?

Isaiah 46, 9 and 10 are actually the 2 Bible verses that I read for the first time for myself when I actually studied the Bible for myself.

My family, we went to church for a little bit when I was a kiddo, but then later on as I got older, we had the right to make our own decisions and I kinda stopped going to church with my brothers.

And then as we stopped going to church, I kinda drifted away from God and the principles of God.

And in my own heart, I actually no longer believed in a God, I didn't believe that there was anything supernatural or spiritual that existed.

And then as an adult, I sat down with an individual and we read these 2 Bible verses.

These were the first 2 Bible verses I ever read for myself.

It says, remember the former things of old, for I am God and there is how many else?

Like to claim to be God, is that a huge claim, yes or no?

So God gives this enormous claim and then he backs it up with enormous evidence.

He says that he declares the end from the beginning, and from ancient times, things that are not yet done, saying, my counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure.

The first point of Bible prophecy that I want to establish tonight from Scripture, from Isaiah 46 9 and 10, is this is what separates the true God from false gods.

God is saying, I am God and you can know I am God because I actually have the ability to tell you what's gonna happen before it actually happens.

All of these false gods and false religions cannot do that.

So Bible prophecy actually separates the true God from the false.

And this was powerful to me, and I'm not gonna try to tangent too much into my personal testimony tonight, I promise.

Prevailing in Prayer: Lessons from Bold Prayers with Dramatic Answers

Well, it's an honor to be invited to speak here.

Like Kat said, I was here the first time probably like 9 years old.

And I remember seeing people like the Clutis come up and direct the service and that made a big impression on me.

And I remember also going to restoration meetings every year in February.

And like Kat said, Anthony Baca's message from unbeliever to great achiever actually encouraged me a couple years later to start reading the Bible again after a period when I had grown a little bit disillusioned with religion.

And if reading the Bible was able to take him all the way to med school, I knew that God could probably do something in my life through reading the Bible, so I gave it a try.

So now I'm standing here speaking during a restoration series myself.

Today's sermon is called Prevailing Prayer, lessons from bold prayers with dramatic answers.

And before I say anything else, I'd like to ask for God's presence 1 more time.

Dear Father in heaven, we thank you so much for the opportunity that we have to be here in this room, hearing your word, for the opportunity that we have to remember you on this day and what you want to do in our lives.

I want to ask that you may please speak to each 1 of us, Lord, that you may remind us of what you need us to know during this next week, when we need it most, and that you may please be with my mouth, that you may please clean it up, and that whatever is spoken may honor you and be helpful to others.

Thank you so much for answering our prayer in Jesus name I ask, amen.

Almost a year ago, almost a year ago I was faced with a big decision to make.

I almost don't want to ask this question because I know that there's people in this audience that have had much bigger decisions to make than anything I've ever had to face.

But at that time, a year ago, I had a big decision to make.

I'd been accepted to med school a few months before, but had been planning to defer my application to spend a year as a student missionary in Central Asia.

Since my brother and I were really little, my dad used to tell us stories of the time he spent in Indonesia as a student missionary.

And understandably, I was looking forward to the experiences I would make and the stories I would get to tell from a year abroad myself.

Those of you who have taken a student missionary year could probably attest to the fact that this was 1 of the most priceless experiences of your lives.

So as a freshman I planned my college courses so I could have a year off to do mission service and remain with my cohort.

I began learning the lingua franca of the country that I wanted to go to, which incidentally happened to be quite commonly spoken in the place where I was studying at the time.

And I also applied to a well-known Adventist missionary organization that operates in the country and works with student missionaries.

And after a two-hour long interview that was far more grueling than anything I ever had to go through to get into med school, I was accepted and received a personal invitation to serve as a student missionary from the main recruiter of the organization.

At the same time all this was going on, I was, some circumstances changed in my life.

I was offered a significant scholarship to begin med school if I would begin that July.

And there were quite a few people in my life that I greatly respect that were discouraging me from taking a year off and were giving me plenty of good reasons why I should not do so.

Perhaps you should say I shouldn't have listened to them, but they weren't giving me bad advice, and it behooved me to take a listen to what they had to say.

So understandably, I had a big decision to make and an approaching deadline to make that commitment.

So I took a significant amount of time to seek God in prayer.

I didn't want to make a mistake, but I was growing increasingly impatient with God's seeming delay.

Despite the time I was inverting in prayer and seeking God, I somehow struggled to make a connection with him that would enable me to gain guidance about the next steps I was supposed to take.

So on 29 of March of last year, God actually provided me some guidance with the decision I was supposed to make.

And he did this by directing me to the following prayers in the Bible, which we're gonna take a look at today.

These are prayers that received dramatic answers.

A whole army slain by God's hand without the shot of a single arrow, and the descent of the Holy Spirit in such a way that an entire building trembled.

The lessons I learned from studying these prayers have helped me to draw even closer to God when I'm in deep trouble or feel inadequate or when I have a tough decision.

So this is what I'd like to talk about this morning.

When Jerusalem was surrounded by the Moabites and Jehoshaphat had to face the invading army.

And we can find this story in 2 Chronicles 20, verses 1 through 30.

It happened after this that the people of Moab, with the people of Ammon and others with them besides the Ammonites, came to battle against Jehoshaphat.

Then some came and told Jehoshaphat, saying, a great multitude is coming against you from beyond the sea from Syria and they're in Hazason Tamar, which is in Gedi.

We can see here that Jehoshaphat and the Jewish nation was in great trouble.

I'm sure many of you are familiar with this story and the way it ended.

And we can see that they were outnumbered by a Confederate army of people that incidentally God had told the Israelites years earlier not to exterminate because they were related to them.

It's, you know, we have the Ammonites, we have the Moabites and the Edomites.

And these were all kindred people to the Israelites and the Jews.

And then they ganged up on the Jewish kingdom and now they were invading.

And they were, God somehow stepped in, unless God somehow stepped in, the nation was done for.

So what do you do when you end up in such a tough spot?

The Bible tells us that Jehoshaphat chose to pray.

The Bible tells us, and Jehoshaphat feared and set himself to seek the Lord and proclaim the fast throughout all Judah.

So Judah gathered together to ask help from the Lord.

And from all the cities of Judah, they came to seek the Lord.

Prayer changes things, but I'd like to argue this morning that the fact that Jehoshaphat prayed isn't the only thing that made the difference in his spiritual experience, but the way he went about it.
