This will be the last on my series on Noah.

And we're going to be looking at the salvation of Noah.

And I've been personally blessed by the study of Noah and what it means for us today.

And that's been my focus throughout anything I preach, is what does it mean for us today?

And that's what we're going to look at today.

Over the last couple days, or couple weeks, months maybe, we looked at the flood's last day message, which was really focused around judgment is coming and we know the world is full of wickedness.

We looked at it compared to today's society.

We know that God has been long suffering with us and There should be an amen for that.

That some people get distracted by the world, but we are called out.

We are called out of that, and we are called to go out and share the message that God will deliver a people.

Then a couple weeks ago, we looked at Noah's message.

What was Noah's message to the people and how it ties exactly with our message that we should be giving.

It is a call, a final warning of judgment.

It is a call of repentance, obedience, and righteousness.

And we know many people will reject, but a remnant will be saved.

And then, Last week, we discussed the superpower that saved Noah.

But the superpower that Noah had was that he put away sin and he put his faith in Christ.

We are called to put away sin and put our faith in Christ.

And when I summarize 3 messages that quickly, you're like, why do you take so long to preach?

You know, Noah and his family were saved from the flood.

But what we're gonna look at today is there is more saving that needs to be done than temporal life.

It was April of 1970 and this is the Apollo 13 it was the third attempted and I use the word attempted on purpose it was the third attempted lunar landing It was a mission to land on the moon but it had to be aborted.

You see anything wrong with that picture?

Wonderful grainy pictures are hard but you see how it's kind of torn up there in the middle?

So it was when number 2 oxygen tank literally blew up and it caused the number 1 oxygen tank to fail the command module it's the overall part of the ship, its normal supply of electricity, lighting and water were all lost.

And these 3 astronauts were 200, 000 miles away from home.

Has anyone ever been on a trip and you had your car break down, you're like, how am I going to do this?

I'm 100 miles away from home, 200 miles away from home.

Imagine 200, 000 miles away from home in an environment such as space.

You can see this is 2 separate, I divided it with a red line, it's 2 separate.

The first one's when the first 1 started to blow up and then It just ripped off and went out and exploded into space.

1 of the astronauts saw a warning light that accompanied a bang.

Next, warning lights indicated the loss of 2 of the 3 fuel cells, which were the spacecraft's primary source of electricity.

When the warning lights started blinking, 1 oxygen tank appeared to be completely empty, and there were indications that the oxygen supply in the second tank was rapidly depleting.

Quickly he radioed mission control with this famous statement, Houston, We had a problem.

I always thought it was we have a problem.

13 minutes after the explosion, the first the astronauts looked out of the left-hand window and saw final evidence pointing to potential catastrophe.

We are venting something out into the space, he reported to Houston.

It's a gas of some sort, and what it was, it was their oxygen gas escaping at a high rate At 1 hour and 29 seconds after the bang the instructor from the flight direct instructions from the flight director and director said it is Slowly going to 0 and we are starting to think about the lunar module, the module they were going to take and land on the moon, as a lifeboat.

Ground controllers in Houston faced a formidable task.

Completely new procedures had to be written and tested in a simulator before being passed up to the crew.

There were many problems to figure out, from how do they navigate down to Earth in the lunar module, to how do they slow it down at the right speed, what was the power problems.

And an interesting 1, this little ship, because it was for the moon, 1 pilot was going to stay in there, it was only built for 2 people.

And so now they're putting 3 people in it.

For 2 people it was built to remove the carbon dioxide.

It was meant to remove that for 2 people for 2 hours.

To land back on Earth, they needed 3 people in it for 4 hours.

The little lunar landing module had plenty of oxygen though, and they figured these things out 1 at a time.

But the removal of the carbon dioxide was the issue they struggled with.

There was lots of these canisters of hydroxide lithium, lithium hydroxide, and that's what removes it.

The problem is they were made for the main spaceship, and oddly, they were round.

And I don't know why they made them different.

But in the lunar 1, they fit into a circle.

And so they went from square to circle they had lots of the canisters but they couldn't get it to fit right so they actually took all the engineers put everything they had on the spaceship and locked them in a room and said figure it out this is all the stuff you have and they worked on the problem they worked on the problem and they figured out a solution getting to my notes here I'm going off notes So they figured out that they could use some plastic bags, some cardboard, and something that all real men use.

So you see that little square box over there?

That is fitting something that doesn't fit into something else using plastic bags, some cardboard and duct tape.

The life of 3 astronauts came down to those 3 items.

3 hours later, the crew splashed down gently in the Pacific Ocean near Samoa.

You think for the next space mission they said let's leave the duct tape and cardboard that works so well.

And you know that's what struck me and that's what we're going to talk about today is the ark was duct tape.

It was duct tape to get them to move along.

Sadly, they quickly moved back to that sin problem.

But there is a longer term solution coming.

God has a solution to save His remnant people.

Today, I want to finish our story of Noah's ark.

And I am going to fly through Genesis 7, 8, and 9.

So if you want to open your Bibles and look at Genesis 7, we're gonna start on verse 13, and I would advise you, I didn't put many of the texts this time in the study guide, So I'd advise you just to leave your Bibles open and kind of flip.
