Mary, did you know that your baby boy will 1 day walk on water?

Did you know that your baby boy has come to make you new?

And that this child you've delivered will soon deliver you.

And then the song concludes with those powerful words that your baby boy is Lord of all creation, will 1 day rule the nations.

That sleeping child you're holding is the great I am.

And in this season where we celebrate the birth of Christ, as we come to the conclusion of the book of Daniel, we are reminded that God wins.

Heavenly Father, as we study Your Word, We want to hear your message in a most powerful way.

I pray that you would move us today, Lord, in such a way that we would be transformed by the power of your son.

On this last Sabbath of 2024, this Sabbath that is right in between the celebration of Christmas and the New Year.

We are closing out the series, These Things We Know.

And I believe it is appropriate for each of us to ask some very important questions.

Do we know him more today than we did yesterday?

Do we know him more this year than last year?

And how can we make 2025 a year of knowing him more deeply?

Over the course of the last 4 and a half months, we have taken a journey through the book of Daniel.

And as we are now facing uncertain times in this world, as we are facing uncertain times in our homes, as we are facing uncertain times in our families, and as we face uncertain times in our church, What is it that we can be certain of?

And in a review of the last 4 and a half months, these things We know.

Daniel chapter 3, where we began our journey, taught us that God saves.

Sometimes when we're obedient to God, when we're faithful to God, we suffer.

We experience pain, we experience heartache.

But we have nothing to fear in all of those circumstances because Jesus saves.

While we face distress, while we face turmoil, while we face wars and rumors of war, while we face uncertainty and politics, the Bible explicitly tells us in Daniel 3, Jesus saves.

There is hope in uncertain times because Jesus saves.

And then when we went to Daniel chapter 1, we saw these things.

When Israel was unfaithful, God was faithful.

I don't know what will happen with the national housing crisis.

I don't know what will happen with inflation.

I don't know what will happen with immigration.

I don't know what will happen with our churches and the current crisis we face.

I don't know any of that, but this I do know, that God is God and there is no other.

He is God and there is none like Him and He is faithful.

Whatever tomorrow brings, I don't know, but He knows.

This is why Jesus said in Matthew chapter 6, verses 33 and 34, Jesus giving us instruction, helping us to understand, but seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.

So do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will care for itself.

Daniel chapter 2 taught us that God is sovereign.

And we are called to place our full faith and trust in Him and His Word.

He will demonstrate His power in our lives.

We can be sealed by Him because He is sovereign.

There in Daniel chapter 2, we studied that prophecy and some of us have heard it a hundred times.

And at that time I said, well, we need to hear it 101 times.

Because when we read those prophecies, when we study them new, it helps us to know and understand that God is sovereign.

We need to study it over and over again to counteract the prevalent lies and deceptions of today.

We need to hear this in light of secular media sources, religious media sources, and sometimes our own private interpretations.

Some people will say to me, I don't need Bible prophecy, it's boring, it's irrelevant.

But we need to look at prophecy differently.

We need to be able to see in prophecy God's warnings of love and God's promises of love.

The prophecies are promises of what he will do and won't do.

And unfortunately today there are many false interpretations and teachings.

It's intended to throw us off, to distract us and deceive us, and eventually lead to our own destruction.

But when we pay attention to the Bible, when we believe what the Bible says, we understand that God is sovereign.

Because we know the government is corrupt, corrupt.

We know there will be financial collapse.

Daniel chapter 3, which we went back to an additional time, teaches us that God is good.

There are going to be tough days ahead for our church both globally and locally.

And in fact, things may get worse before they get better.

But Daniel chapter 3 teaches that when we are thrown into the fiery furnace of life, When Jesus is our friend and we have stood with him, we can be assured that He will stand up with us and walk with us through the fires of life.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were not alone.

God did not abandon them and he does not abandon us today.
