It’s for You

Because he first loved me That's the reason we all are to All together.

♪ Oh how I love Jesus ♪ Singing oh how I love Jesus ♪ Oh how I I love Jesus, because He first loved me.

How many of you, That's why you're here this morning, because you love Jesus.

As you can see, I cannot sing like the lead chorister for our music.

But I started to do that in my sermons because when you get nervous, I think, what's the most embarrassing thing I can possibly do?

And that is to sing in front of an audience of 3, 000 people while streaming.

I know it sounded worse on the stream than it did live.

And I figure if I can do that, then the rest of the sermon is easy.

I bring you greetings from Fayetteville, North Carolina.

To my wife, babe, I know you're watching.

She's not feeling so well today, so please keep my wife in prayer.

And of course, to my 4 heartbeats, my kids, Nafti, Zenon, Mari, and Ava, they're always looking for me to give shout-outs on live streams.

So this is Papa shouting out to you, lock in chat, make sure you're paying attention.

Some of you older people aren't going to get that, but when you have kids my age as teenagers, you got to start speaking Gen Z, Gen Alpha slang and all this other stuff.

So I promise you I'm going to put the fries in the bag and I'm going to eat.

My kids are shaking their heads right now.

It is a privilege to be here at this GYC event.

I want to personally thank Pastor Shane and the First Lady for allowing me to come and to share the pulpit with you.

I've already been blessed by your ministry abroad, so now I get to put a face with the text that I've read online, and I'm thankful, thankful.

Pastor Shane, to be able to preach here, I consider it a privilege and an honor.

I also want to thank GYC, Andrew, our president, and the rest of the executive committee and team and board that saw fit to consider my name as an opportunity for this weekend.

And every time I have the opportunity to preach the word of God, it is not a right.

And I'm so grateful and humbled that you guys would allow me to be here And also to the students and the rest of the congregation that is here with us this morning You could have been anywhere else in the world even in Berrien Springs, but you're here And I believe that because you have come, you make Jesus happy, just because you came.

And when you desire a sincere blessing from God, he will not fail you.

I've entitled my message, because my time is on the clock and I gotta get moving.

Mighty God, everlasting Father, it is your time.

We are not interested in political speeches or the words of men, but We have come to this house to hear the Word of God.

So Lord, it is my prayer, it is our prayer that you would use this man who is nothing before you.

May you speak through me, may you speak to me.

That Christ may be lifted up and that all men may be drawn unto him.

And when the drawing power of his love and of his cross is presented, may we not resist that power, but help us to yield, no matter how young and no matter how old, to the loving and drawing power of the Holy Spirit.

And now, Lord, may the sweet, sweet Spirit of Jesus abide with us now, and may our hearts burn within us as you speak with us by the way this is our prayer and we trust that you'll help this to be our experience for we offer this prayer from our hearts in Jesus name let all of God's people say In March 1876, Alexander Graham Bell made the first phone call to his assistant, Thomas Watson.

Person picked up the other line and Alexander said Mr.

Watson come here I want to see you in 1917 the Zimmerman telegram was intercepted by British intelligence of Germans Germany's attempt to ally with Mexico to take back Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico from the United States.

And in 1945, In April of that year, President Truman received a phone call, a briefing on the Manhattan Project and the development of the atomic bomb, which would eventually bring an end to World War II.

This and these are just a few of the many calls that have shaped history.

Individuals receiving calls in terms of Alexander Graham Bell in order to connect humanity in ways we had never been connected before.

The Zimmerman telegram was a phone call and an understanding of a message that involved us in World War I and stopped the encroachment of tyranny on the planet.

And it was this briefing to President Truman that would eventually lead to Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Bombs that to this day, there are museums of a tricycle, a young Japanese boy riding his bike when the bomb was dropped.

His father's watch frozen in time in that moment when 100, 000 Japanese people lost their life.

All because of a call that was not received.

The allies had called Japan from President Truman and said, listen, you need to give an unyielded complete surrender Otherwise there will be mass destruction was the message and the Japanese said we're not interested and the result was Nagasaki and Hiroshima.

Brothers and sisters I believe that this morning just like young boy Samuel That while someone else may answer the phone, the call it's for you.

The recognition that if you ignore this call, there are consequences so much greater than Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

There are consequences so much larger than simply whether a war will continue or not.

Because like young Samuel in our scripture reading, he was called but the call came to someone else and Eventually that someone else recognized it's for you Would you take your Bibles and turn with me to first Samuel chapter 3?

First Samuel chapter 3 beginning in verse 1 when you're there you can say men Okay, if you're not there just say have mercy I'm getting there brother Sebastian first Samuel chapter 3 beginning in verse 1.

Okay, if you're not there just say have mercy.

First Samuel chapter 3 beginning in verse 1.

The Bible says beginning in verse 1 now the boy Samuel ministered to the Lord before Eli All 3 characters in this story are mentioned in the very first phrase.

These are all the main individuals in the story, already mentioned.

Samuel is a boy who is ministering to the Lord before Eli.

You would expect something very different.

That if someone was the under shepherd, if someone was just a little boy, unknown, young, inexperienced, that this story has nothing to do with the little boy, but that it would go to the high priest who is supervising his ministry.

I want you to look with me as the narrator gives us extra information.

He says, and the word of the Lord was what in those days?

It was rare in those days and there was no widespread revelation.

I'm gonna start off by talking about the context of when God is calling young people.

GYC is a movement of young people on a mission for the Lord to proclaim the first, second, and third angels' messages to all the world in this generation.

I don't know about you, but I want to see Jesus in my lifetime.

I want to mount the skies above Mount Everest to ascend to meet the Lord in the air and to be changed in a moment in the twinkling of an eye.

When this mortal shall put on immortality, where this corruptible shall put on incorruption.

And GYC is a movement that says the world does not need new humanitarian organizations.
