Righteousness By Faith and The Final Conflict

The book of Revelation describes 7 devastating plagues that will afflict this earth after the close of human probation.

The first 5 of these are number 1, sores.

Secondly, the sea, the rivers, and fountains of waters are turned into blood.

Then you have the sun scorching all of the vegetation on earth.

And finally, a darkness deeper than the darkest night.

What we're going to study in the next few minutes is Plague No.

So I invite you to open your Bibles with me to Revelation 16 and verse 12 Revelation 16 and verse 12 and then we're going to read also verses 13 14 15 and 16 after we read verse 12 so we're going to read the verse and then we're going to have a short word of prayer to ask the Lord to bless our study together The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates.

I'm going to pause and explain some things as we go along.

This is not the literal River Euphrates in Iraq.

The River Euphrates was the river of Babylon and we're not talking about literal Babylon we're speaking about spiritual Babylon and we know that the river upon which the harlot sits in Revelation 17.

The waters represent multitudes, nations, tongues, and peoples.

In other words, Babylon, a global religious system that controls the multitudes.

The sixth angel poured out his bowl on the great river Euphrates, the river of spiritual Babylon.

And now something's going to happen with the waters.

The multitudes, nations, tongues, and peoples.

When the waters of ancient Babylon were dried up, Babylon fell.

So when the multitudes withdraw their support from spiritual Babylon the result will be the fall of spiritual Babylon.

It says to prepare the way for the kings that come from the earth.

And who are the kings that come from the earth?

It's Jesus Christ sitting on a white horse, coming with the armies of heaven to this earth to rescue his people.

So basically that is what Revelation 16 verse 12 is telling us.

Spiritual Babylon that had the support of multitudes nations tongues and peoples at some point those multitudes nations tongues and peoples withdraw their support spiritual Babylon falls And the result is Jesus comes on the clouds of heaven with his armies to deliver his people from the death decree.

So now let's have a word of prayer and we'll pursue this further.

Father in heaven, we thank you for the privilege now of opening your holy book.

We do it reverently, with open hearts and open minds.

We ask that you will bless us with the presence of your spirit.

Give us clarity of thought and willingness of heart to receive your message today.

We thank you for hearing and answering our prayer for we ask it in the precious and most holy name of Jesus, Amen.

So now we're going to take a look at verses 13 and 14 and let me just share with you that even though Revelation 16 12 is talking about something that happens after probation closes, revelation 13 and 14 are taking you back to probationary time are you clear on that point 13 and 14 take you back to the time when the door probation is still open So let's read Revelation 16 13 and 14.

Interesting what are those unclean spirits?

Do we have 3 righteous angels in Revelation?

And I saw 3 unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet.

The dragon is Satan working through the civil powers of the world.

The dragon that stood next to the woman to devour Christ as soon as he was born was Satan working through the civil power of Rome.

So when it says here, out of the mouth of the dragon, these are the civil powers of the world.

When it speaks about the beast, that is the papacy.

And when it speaks about the false prophet, that's the beast that rises from the earth.

In Revelation 13, 11 to 18, it represents apostate Protestantism.

So once again I saw 3 unclean spirits like frogs coming out of the mouth of the dragon, the civil powers of the world, out of the mouth of the beast, the papacy, out of the mouth of the false prophets for they are spirits of demons that is the 3 performing signs which go out to the kings of the earth and of the whole world to what?

They go out to gather everyone on Satan's side.

It says, gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

Now don't think that Jesus is coming on the clouds with his angels and the wicked are shooting rockets at Jesus as he comes on the clouds.

Ellen White tells us in volume 7 of the testimonies page 182 that the war is against God in the person of his people.

We need to understand that it's not directly against God.

It's against God in the same sense that it is against his people because whoever wars against people is warring against God.

Remember Saul of Tarsus on the way to Damascus?

He hears a voice, Saul, Saul why do you persecute me?

In persecuting the church Saul was persecuting the Lord and so this battle Jesus is coming to deliver his people from certain death because there's a death decree against his people.

Now, you say, how do we know that this passage is dealing with events before probation closes.

1612 is the sixth plague after probation closes.

How do we know that verses 13 and 14 go back to speak about the gathering of the wicked by these 3 symbolic angels.

I want to read you a statement from Ellen White it's found in the Seventh-day Adventist Bible commentary volume 7 page 983.

Ellen White understood that this is taking us back to probationary time.

This is what it says, the present is a solemn fearful time for the church.

The angels are all already girded, awaiting the mandate of God to pour out their vials of wrath upon the world.

They're waiting to pour out their vials in the present.

She continues, destroying angels, this is the 3 evil spirits, are taking up the work of vengeance for the Spirit of God is gradually withdrawing from the world.

Not totally withdrawn, it's gradually withdrawing from the world.

Satan is, present tense, is also mustering his forces of evil going forth, presently, right, going forth, going forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world to gather them under his banner to be trained for the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

So the gathering is to train his people for the great battle against God in the person of his people.

So you have 3 righteous angels, which represents by the way God's people that are gathering God's people on God's side and you have the 3 evil angels that are gathering the wicked on Satan's side.

Before we do let me just mention that this is a parenthetical verse it breaks the flow of thought in other words because it says Satan is gathering his people on his side and the sixth plague is going to be poured out make sure you do something during probationary time so that you're on the right side notice verse 15 and this is where we get into the issue of righteousness by faith.

You say what does this have to do with righteousness by faith?

We're going to be studying this in the 3 presentations Lord willing that I will have with you.

Revelation 16 verse 15 says behold here Jesus is speaking behold, I am coming as a thief, blessed is he who watches and keeps, what?

God is gathering his people with 3 angels, the plagues are going to fall.

Medical Missionary Work and The Three Angels Messages

Father, we're grateful, Lord, for your Holy Spirit's guidance.

We pray, Lord, as we open up your words this morning to study where we are and what we need to be doing as a people.

We pray for your divine wisdom, your divine guidance.

But most importantly, we're praying for application of the information.

This morning we're gonna be looking at medical missionary work and the final crisis.

Medical missionary work and the final crisis.

Let's take our Bibles and turn to 1st Chronicles chapter 12.

And my son Jemai is actually named after 1 of these men that we're going to look at in 1st Chronicles chapter 12 and let's look at what the Bible says in verse 32 1st Chronicles chapter 12 and verse 32 Let me know when you're there by saying Amen.

The Bible says, and of the children of Issachar, which were who?

Men that had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do.

There's 2 characteristics here that you see.

Number 1, they have understanding of the times.

Number 2, The Bible says that they know what Israel ought to do Let me say these 2 things go hand in hand.

Many of us have had the experience especially in the winter months you wake up and you're trying to figure out what to do It's dark outside.

The alarm didn't come on and you you're not sure exactly what time it is.

And you're trying to calculate, what do I do?

Do I get up and get my day started, or do I roll over and take a few more snoozes, right?

Now, what is the determinant factor in your decision?

Now if you see that it's 1 a.m., what do you do?

The problem with God's remnant church is because we don't know the time we don't know what to do.

In fact let's go in our Bibles now to the book of Revelation, Romans rather, Romans chapter 13, Romans chapter 13, and notice what the Bible says in the book of Romans chapter 13.

And the principle that I'm sharing with you this morning is that knowing the time is synonymous in knowing what to do.

In fact Ellen White says in volume 6 of the testimonies page 24, it is the vestry essence of all right faith to do the right thing at the right time.

Again, knowing the time has everything with knowing what to do.

Verse 11, the Bible says, and that knowing the time, that now is what kind of time?

A high time to awake out of sleep, for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed.

So if we know the time, then by God's grace we know what to do.

Now, there's also a misunderstanding in what understanding is.

A lot of times we think that understanding, or should I say information, is synonymous with understanding.

A person could be sufficiently informed without understanding.

The word understand means to perceive the intended meaning.

So as we see the things that are happening in the world, do we just have information or do we have understanding?

In fact, let's know what the Bible says now in the book of Matthew chapter 16.

Go to Matthew chapter 16 and look at verse 1 Matthew chapter 16.

Jesus is speaking to the scribes and the Pharisees in Matthew chapter 16 and notice what the Bible says now in verse 1.

The Bible said the Pharisees also with the Sadducees came and tempted and desired him that he would show them a sign from heaven.

Notice what Jesus said now, he said he answered and said unto them when the evening when it is evening you say it is will be fair weather for the skies red and in morning it will be far weather today for the sky is red and is lowering and watch what he says now he says all ye hypocrites you can discern the face of the sky, but can he not discern the what?

So in other words, they see it, and they have information, but they don't have understanding.

In fact, the Bible says, they don't have discernment of the time Now should we discern the time?

Let's go to Ecclesiastes chapter 8 Ecclesiastes chapter 8 and notice what the Bible says now in verse 5 Ecclesiastes chapter 8 and notice what the Bible says in verse 5.

The Bible says, Who keepeth the commandment shall feel no evil thing, and notice what it says now, and a wise man's heart does what?

Discerns 2 things both both time and what else and and judgment so the first thing that I want to establish is that as we're living in these last days God wants us to have understanding of the times so that we can know what to What to do.

I want you to make sure we see this we need to have understanding of the Time so that we know what to Because they are synonymous The time help us to know what to do.

We can know, or we need to know, and we need to know, or we can know.

We can know, or we need to know, and we need to know all we can.

We can know all we need to know, and we need to know all we can.

We can know all we need to know, and we need to know all we can know.

Jesus, my friends, understood the times in which we are living.

Jesus knew exactly where he was in time and in that Jewish celebration when they were having a Passover while everyone was celebrating the Bible says that Jesus beheld the city and he wept.

He says, because they knew not the time of thy visitation.

They did not understand the time, therefore they did not know what to do.

Therefore we can know all we need to know, and we need to know how much all we can know.

Lord has blessed me to put together this chart that shows where we are in time, and also what we need to be doing as a people.

So here is an outline of the prophetic timeline in which we're facing right now.

Right here you see the straight testimony.

And we're told that it is a straight testimony that causes a shaking among God's people.

Now, I mentioned yesterday there are 3 phases of the shaking.

And the wife says in volume 5 of the testimonies page 707 she said if all else fails heresies will come in and will cause a sifting among God's people.

Are we seeing heresies in the church right now?

Love reality, heresies causing a shaking.

Broken Adventists - The Mental Health Crisis In The Church

The title of this message is Broken Adventists, the Mental Health Crisis in the Church.

And I'm kind of letting the cat out of the bag with the first slide.

This is gonna be a very straight message, something that I hope that we will seriously think about, but I do believe we have a crisis in the church that I'd like to discuss.

So what does righteousness by faith have to do with mental health?

It's something that we simply cannot neglect.

I've had several events that have recently really affected me, really gotten my attention.

The first is that we recently did a evangelistic series in the community which I live in, which is South Lake Tahoe.

It was 2 weeks, rented a venue, handbills to the whole community, door to door work, all that stuff, but the whole series was on mental health.

And we had several mental health practitioners come out from a clinic that you may be aware of called Beautiful Minds Medical.

That's Brother David Jones there, that was just there, Dr.

Katie Cruz, Daniella Kuhn, who's kind of new to their staff recently.

And 2 weeks, the entire thing was on mental health.

You see, the classic 3 Angels message approach, at least in South Lake Tahoe, does not work very well as a upfront outreach to the community.

The community's just, based on our efforts and what we've produced over the last several years, they're not very interested in that, at least as an entering wedge.

So we've had to, as a church, be creative.

And so what we have ended up doing is we end up shooting for meeting people's needs.

And then as a result, eventually open them up to hearing the 3 angels' messages through typically small group or one-on-one Bible studies.

Through a providential series of events, I received a report that the hospital system in South Lake Tahoe did a survey of the entire community.

And what they found was that from their survey, 30% of the people in South Lake Tahoe said that they struggle with mental health.

And that's only the people that have been surveyed and that's not even the people who were not being honest about their mental situation.

So I said, we got to do something with mental health.

And so we did, we did this big mental health seminar.

We had a really good turnout from the community.

The community gave us very positive feedback.

But the response that I got from my own church was it really surprised me.

It deeply, deeply touched a number of people in our own congregation.

Now I have been doing Bible studies and ministering too.

We have a decent sized group of non-Seventh-day Adventists who are coming to our church regularly.

They're essentially part of our church family.

They've heard the 3 angels' messages 2 or 3 times in a row.

We've been through the studies with them over and over, but they've just been stuck.

For 1 reason or another, we've spoken to them about baptism and just let them know that, hey, you've learned the message.

We're here for you when you're ready for that step.

You've received Christ as your Savior, but they've just been stuck.

But something about this mental health seminar tipped them over the edge.

At the end of this mental health seminar, we had 4 baptisms, 4 people that gave their lives to Christ.

Some of these people we've been working with for 3 to 4 years.

And it just really got my attention, these people who were just kind of stuck, and there was something about how they got practically ministered to in that mental health seminar that just, it just tipped the scale for them.

And I thought, I think there's something here, there's a power here that I think we haven't been tapping into.

There's something that I've been missing in my ministry.

In addition to that, I recently, I have a friend who grew up Seventh-day Adventist.

I ran into him at the grocery store, and I said, hey, what's new with you?

And he kind of, you know, we did some small talk for a while.

He's like, hey, I feel comfortable telling you this.

He's like, I knew I could be safe enough telling you this.

And he went on to just describe to me, this gentleman grew up Seventh-day Adventist.

He grew up at a pretty well-known medical missionary center in the church.

And he just told me growing up what he saw a lot of.

He saw a lot of people that were not very nice to him.

He was a little bit socially awkward and they didn't know how to deal with him properly.

And he told me also about a not too kind of recent experience he had where he was at a pilot launch of a new Seventh-day Adventist medical missionary establishment.

Him and another friend of mine were there, and they were helping launch their new pilot program, they're gonna do the first 10-day program.

He said, Gabe, you know what we did the night before our opening of this new medical missionary center, their first 10-day program?

He says, we weren't preparing the rooms for the guests, we weren't preparing the meals, me and sister so-and-so, who I will leave unnamed, we spent the night before the opening of this center trying to convince the director, who's a doctor, and his wife not to get divorced.

That's what we spent the night before the opening of this Medical Missionary Center doing.

Convincing them, dude, please do not get divorced.

You just got to listen to someone at that point and just try to empathize with their experience.

So I said, but why did you get baptized as a Mormon?

And he went on to explain to me, you know what he did?

They helped him with his mental health, which I was really surprised of because, you know, the missionaries in that church, they're not really well known for that.

That's not like what they're well known for, but somehow, someway they did it.

He was able to see that he'd been hiding his inner soul his whole life.

And he had never let people in due to the fear that they would be disgusted by what they saw and that he would be rejected.

And that came out during this conversation with the Mormons.

And he's like, Gabe, I don't even fully believe in their doctrines.
