The Final Generation Must Speak this Language

Often in my evangelistic meetings, I'll have a question box and I'll say to the audience, if you have any questions, drop them in the question box and I'll answer them the next night.

So very often people ask me a question like this.

You know, sometimes the questions are serious and sometimes they're not quite as serious.

People will say, Pastor Mark, what language are we going to speak in heaven?

What language are we going to speak in heaven?

What language are we gonna speak in heaven?

Now, what happens is exactly what happened to you.

Some people are gonna shout out, in heaven, we're gonna speak Spanish.

Other people are gonna shout out, in heaven, we're gonna speak Portuguese.

Other people are gonna shout out, in heaven, we're gonna speak German.

Somebody were gonna shout out, why it's English of course, the Americans can't learn anything else.

But then some Bible student is going to shout out, oh, it's going to be Hebrew or Greek.

Heavenly beings speak a different language that you and I speak on earth.

Can we learn that language now, so we'll know how to speak to the heavenly beings in glory?

Now let's suppose you're traveling and you're going to go on this amazing vacation.

The entire vacation has already been paid for.

You're gonna go to a country that has magnificent views, A country that has beautiful snow-capped mountains.

A country that has magnificent pure lakes.

A country that is known for its delicious food.

Everything to tempt the eye and delight the taste.

You're gonna go to a country with people that are incredibly hospitable, but there is 1 but.

This country speaks a different language than you speak.

And to get into that country, you need more than a passport.

You need to demonstrate language proficiency.

And if you don't learn the language, you're not going to be able to get into the country.

We're on a journey that's incredibly amazing.

A country that has beautiful scenery, amazing food, hospitable people.

A country eventually that's called the Earth Made New.

But there's a language, And if we fail to learn that language on earth, we won't be able to enter that country.

And throughout our lives, God desires us to learn the language of heaven.

Now we're going to study 4 different scenes in the Bible to discover the language of heaven.

And in these 4 scenes, heavenly beings are going to teach us the language of heaven.

I should really tell you what the language is.

When you read the book of Revelation and you look at what the heavenly beings are saying, they are praising God.

We begin with these great lessons from Revelation to discover why the heavenly beings are praising God.

And if we discover why they are praising God, praise will fill our hearts too to praise God.

We learn the language of heaven by learning what heavenly beings are saying in their praise to God.

First, heavenly beings are full of praise, and they remind us that the language of heaven must be learned now, if indeed we're going to go there later.

3 reasons in 4 Bible passages of why heavenly beings are praising God.

First, heavenly beings are filled with praise because they worship a loving creator.

We find that in Revelation chapter 4, verse 10 and 11.

The scripture says, the 4 and 20 elders fell down before him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever and cast their crowns before Him.

You are worthy O Lord to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they exist.

Heaven is full of praise at Christ's mighty power in creating the universe.

We exist not because of some cosmic accident, but we exist because of the intentional will of God.

Since we were created by a loving God, we can have absolute assurance that God has a plan for our lives.

They are purposeful because the 1 who has created us has a purpose for us.

They are meaningful because the 1 who created us gives us meaning.

Our lives are not empty because the 1 that created us fills us with abundance.

You see, once you understand that you're not some cosmic speck of dust, Once you understand that you're not simply skin covering bones, once you understand that God has created you, that gives life purpose and meaning, and it fills our hearts with praise.

A life filled with praise is not based on our feelings, because our feelings can change rapidly.

A life based on praise is not based on circumstances, because circumstances vary so greatly.

A life filled with praise is not dependent on the approval of others, it's dependent on the approval of God.

A life filled with praise is not dependent on a certain future.

We can live with uncertainty because our lives are in the hands of the God that created the universe.

I like the way Corrie 10 Boom puts it when she says this.

Corrie 10 Boom says, never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.

Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God.

Corrie 10 Boom was forcibly placed in a German prison camp.

She suffered mental anguish, yet she continued to trust God.

She learned there in that place of horror to place her life in the hands of the creator that made us.

I don't know what you are going through right now.

I don't know what sword may be piercing your heart.

I don't know what burdens you may be carrying, but we can praise God.

Because We are in the hands of a loving Creator that fashioned us.

Now God's answer to prayer may be different than what we desire, yet we can trust God as a path for us.

We praise God because we know he has created us for a purpose.

We praise God because our lives are not meaningless.

We praise God that although we may not always understand his plan, and life at times may become confusing, But this we know, this we know, whatever circumstance we face in life, our loving Creator is big enough, great enough, large enough to enable us to handle it.

Pastor Dietrich Bonhoeffer, himself a prisoner in German jail, once said, God does not give us everything we want, but he does fulfill his promises, leading us along the best and straightest path to himself.

Bonhoeffer was imprisoned in a German Gestapo prison camp.

He ultimately died as a martyr, but he says, and it comes echoing and re-echoing down the centuries to us today.

God doesn't always give us everything we want, but he does fulfill his promises.

He's leading us along the best and straightest path to himself.

So we can say with the psalmist in Psalm 34, verse 1, Did you notice how David's life was a life of praise?
