Please God, Beat Me Up

Thank you dear God for freedom of worship in this country.

Thank you Father for bringing us to this house of worship without accidents or tragedies.

You brought us through the week and we're grateful.

If we've offended you dear god, forgive us.

Jesus Christ died and rose to make it possible for you to forgive We thank you.

In song, in prayer, in giving, and in the proclamation of the word.

But you also know, Father, how willing I am to speak for you.

Grant me boldness in my speech, but compassion too, For I need the same grace that I'll talk about.

And let them come back and come back to worship with us.

Wherever they are, we thank you for the technology that permits a man to stand in Moreno Hills in Southern California and be listened to in South Korea or China.

Now, god, fill me with the humility of Jesus Christ.

Possess my mind, my memory, and my mouth.

If you will not heal, give them significant relief.

Guide the leaders in congress somehow in your way.

Remind them that righteousness exalted the nation and that the most high ruleth in the kingdoms of men.

Grant all of us a place in your kingdom when you come.

If you have that, feel free to read aloud with me.

And it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth and daughters were born unto them That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair and they took them wives of all which they chose.

And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh, but his day shall be 120 years.

There were giants in the earth in those days.

Also after that when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men and they bear children unto them, the same became mighty men which were of old men of renown.

And God saw, you don't have to guess, it wasn't a rumor, and God saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

I will go on destroy man whom I have created.

And the Lord God commanded the man saying, of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil thou shalt not eat of it.

Finish the verse for in the day thou eatest thereof thou shall surely die.

Before sin entered the world the world God issued a warning.

1 of the first things God told Adam and Eve was a warning.

Someone wrote me once several months ago, be careful, I don't recall the precise words, be careful how you talk about God.

No 1 argues that God is a God of love, but you need to understand a God who loves righteousness automatically, finish my words, hates sin.

And God hates sin with all his heart and soul.

And God told our first parents, in the day thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

In the day thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Let me put it a little more harshly In the day thou eatest thereof I finish my words I will kill you.

This is the same God in verse 7 of Genesis 6 who says, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth.

See, Most people come to church to feel good.

I hope there's a sermon that makes me feel good.

But if you concentrate on what Jesus preached when he came, what John the Baptist preached, what the disciples preached, You realize what they preached might not necessarily have made the listeners feel good but it made them feel convicted.

There's a place for congregations to come to the end of a sermon and leave troubled, leave bothered, leave crying.

Because they've been brought face to face with the fact if sin remains in your life, God will destroy you.

In the book Evangelism, page 179, paragraph 5, Elowite writes, God desires his preachers or his servants today to preach the old gospel doctrine.

God desires his servants today to preach the old gospel doctrine, sorrow for sin, repentance, confession.

She goes on to write, what we want is old fashion sermons, old fashion customs, old fashion fathers and mothers who rule their homes are not allowed the homes to be run by the children.

Old-fashioned sermons with thus said the Lord is the dominant voice and it produces conviction So that someone listening says in his heart or hers, I need to stop what I'm doing.

Because I've just realized that the God of love is also a God of wrath.
