We're so happy that you're all here and we are so happy to be able to share these times with you Being able to share with you things that we've learned in our journey that we hope and trust that will be maybe something that you can pick up in your journey and be able to apply it and then be able to find that it will produce good fruit, good results.

So our topic right now, we're switching gears.

We were talking about sexuality and intimacy and all of that in our last session.

Now we're switching gears and we're calling this 1, Talk It Out, God's Way to Handle Love and Drama.

Father in heaven, thank you so much that you have once again brought us here to continue this reflections on relationships, Lord.

And we just wanna pray once again, that you have in our previous sessions that you'll do it once again in this 1 that you would come and just give us, give us insight, give us understanding.

And so we trust you and we thank you in Jesus' name.

Relationships can be incredible, but they can also get messy really, really fast.

Today we're going to talk about practical faith-based ways to handle conflict so that love stays at the center and drama doesn't run the show.

Yep, and when you think of love and drama, what comes to mind?

Yeah, yeah, no, something else, something else.

Oh, Those are nothing but just saturated in love and drama.

And in fact, I don't think that many people would be paying attention to soap operas if they didn't include love and drama.

And sometimes our very own lives seems to be playing out, you know, the script of a soap opera.

You want to be able to just, you know, submit a script idea to the producer.

I think we could have done that a time or 2.

You know, Those are another set of things, programs, that involve a lot of drama.

And we're going to talk about what is often referred to as the drama triangle.

You have your victim, you have your rescuer, and you have your persecutor.

In the relationship drama, the victim feels completely powerless.

They believe they are helpless, that external forces are controlling their situation, and they blame others.

They look to someone else to fix their problems, and they feel completely stuck This role often pulls other people into the triangle by subconsciously recruiting a rescuer or they provoke a persecutor.

It actually, it's actually a way of avoiding responsibility.

So let's, let's just kind of play it out to give you an idea of what a victim does or is.

You know, I just feel like everyone is against me.

Everything is always bad happening to me.

You know, I texted my friend yesterday and no response, none, just completely quiet, nothing.

Well, did you ask them if something's going on?

You know what, if they cared about me, they would have gotten back with me Okay, all right, so is there something I can do can I do something to help out this situation?

You know what there's not really anything you can do I mean it just things just just you know there you know I just have to suffer quietly because, you know, that's always what I do.

Besides, you know what, that just seems to be my role in life but you know what, I'm fine.

That right there is the victim mentality.

They just want to suffer quietly, powerless, they're blaming, they're waiting for someone else to rescue them while doing absolutely nothing to change the situation.

What's, what's, who's the rescuer in this?

Well the rescuers, instead of helping, they often enable the situation to continue.

They often over function to cover up for the victim.

They assume responsibility that isn't even theirs.

And they tie their worth to being needed.

Like if I'm not rescuing someone else from a terrible situation.

The rescuer also may look selfless because they're always rescuing other people.

And so you think, oh, this person is just so wonderful.

They're always trying to fix everything, which is robbing other people of being able to grow and it keeps this unhealthy cycle alive.

Everything feels so overwhelming right now.
