A New Year: Living with the End in View

Fresh manna fell to the ground as a gift from God while the Israelites were in the wilderness.

It was Fresh from the Ovens of Heaven, Baked by the Master Baker Himself.

How the Israelites must have anticipated the taste and the smell of each morning's delivery.

Just like the Israelites, you too can now experience the taste and smell of fresh manna.

Today you will be listening to Phil Mills, pastor of Lansing Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

It is good to see you all inside a warm building.

You know, when we moved to Lansing, I knew it was going to be cold.

But I did not know Lansing got this cold.

I think if I had, we would not have bought a wood boiler.

Because every morning, when it's the coldest, I have to go outside and put wood in that boiler.

Praise God just like in our lives when it's freezing in the world around us, the Holy Spirit comes into the darkness and lights a flame when we ask Him.

And He keeps us on fire for Jesus Christ.

And church, I pray that our congregation will be the most on fire congregation for Jesus Christ.

And we need to keep that focus in view and on our knees allowing God to ignite the fire inside our lives.

God is, We had a powerful evangelistic series that God blessed in, praise God.

Strong Tower Radio is reaching hundreds of thousands of people across this state and is in the city of Lansing.

But it's not just what's happening outside, it's what God is doing inside of our lives that matters.

Because it's his work is an individual work and I am thankful God is moving in our church.

As Lindsay and I are visiting different people, we are seeing the Spirit of God touching lives.

This is 1 of my favorite parts about visiting in a new church is we're getting to know everyone.

Hearing the testimonies of what God is doing to transform your life.

Each 1 of you has an incredible testimony of what God is doing.

And at the end of this next year, that we're just entering now, I know we're gonna have even greater testimonies because as we get down to the end, the Holy Spirit begins to move in even more powerful ways to prepare people for his second coming.

And so on that note, I'd like to invite you to bow your heads just 1 more time as we ask the Holy Spirit to guide us as we open his word.

Gracious Father, as we step before You, bowing our heads, it is in a realization that You are not only the great and awesome and powerful God, but You are a personal Lord and Savior that we approach You.

And Father, as we're about to open Your Word, I ask that again this morning You will make Yourself very much felt and seen by each 1 of us.

May Phil disappear and may Christ be the 1 who is teaching us.

We lay this time into your hands and we ask all of this in the wonderful and powerful name of Jesus Christ.

I'd like to invite you to take your Bibles and turn with me to Isaiah 43.

It's a verse that while I was waking up this morning, the Lord brought vividly to my mind.

I haven't had this happen very often, but every now and then, God as I'm waking up will say, you need to look this verse up.

So there wasn't a reason for it to come to my mind, except I believe the Holy Spirit gave it to me.

And so I want us to read this morning, these verses as we go into our sermon this morning.

And we're going to start in verse 9, 10, and 11 by way of introduction to our sermon.

I'll give you just a few more moments before we begin reading.

I want everyone to see this in your Bibles.

Let all the nations be gathered together.

Who among them can declare this and show us former things?

Let them bring out their witnesses that they may be justified or let them hear and say what are the 3 words it is what truth what's the truth it's why we're gathered here this morning it's why God has called us to be his people it's why you're here today At least I hope it's why you're here.

And read it with me, my servant whom I have chosen that you may know and believe me.

If you're here wondering if you should have a purpose or not, you have a purpose.

If you're wondering where you should be going in life, it's very simple.

God has specifically come and called you.
