Let’s Start New

Fresh manna fell to the ground as a gift from God while the Israelites were in the wilderness.

It was fresh from the ovens of heaven, baked by the master baker himself.

How the Israelites must have anticipated the taste and the smell of each morning's delivery.

Just like the Israelites, you too can now enjoy the taste and smell of fresh manna.

Today you will be listening to Pat Milligan, former pastor of the Cadillac and Lake City Seventh-day Adventist churches in the Michigan Conference, and presently pastoring in the Oklahoma Conference.

That'll get you going on this cold morning.

The Lord is good and happy new year to everybody.

We're 1 year closer to our Lord's coming.

So this is the time of the year where we could say, if you've made any mistakes in this past year, it's good that God lets us start over.

If any of you've ever golfed, if you make a bad hit, and that's why I don't golf, because I make too many bad hits.

But if you make a bad hit, they let you take a...

So let's look at some text in the Bible that deal with first things first.

And so if we're gonna start it off right, I think the first text we should look at would be Matthew 6 33.

And in the context of Matthew 6 33, it's dealing with the subject of worry.

Matthew 6 verses 25 through 32 deal with that we as human beings we tend to worry too much.

We worry, you know, we do, we worry, don't we?

And God says, listen, don't worry so much.

You can't fix them, so why do you worry about them, right?

And so he's saying it's okay to be concerned about these things, give them to God and say, Lord, I'm gonna hand them to you, I'm not gonna worry about them and I'm just gonna let you take care of them.

And then he says, here is the answer to our problems when we are worrying.

He says in verse 33, but seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things that you're wanting, all these things you're concerned about, will be what?

So, get our priorities straight, seek Him, spend time with Him, and then God promises He will take care of you.

So, this is the putting first things first on the first, and that is let's put God first, and we will have a better year.

And then Lamentations 3, as Lloyd shared with us, Lamentations chapter 3 says this, verses 22 through 24, Lamentations 3 says this, verses 22-24, "...through the Lord's mercies we are not consumed." Praise God.

We have been given a lot of grace and mercy.

You know, the children of Israel, they would have to get up early in the morning and they would get the manna.

If they waited too long, you know, the sun would melt it.

So It's kind of the indicator that we make sure that we talk to God the first thing and they're new every morning.

The Lord is my portion, therefore I hope in Him.

Do not remember the former things, nor consider the things of old." In other words, don't revel in how you used to be.

That was in your old life when you were a heathen or when you were outside of Christ.

Now it shall spring forth, shall you not know it?" He says, I will make even a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert." So God says He can do a new thing when we're connected to Him.

I just still shake my head at what happened with Strong Tower Radio.

There was 22 hours left and we needed to raise what was it 226 and you have 22 hours to raise 226000 dollars.

I'm the chairman of the board and so I thought, well, maybe I should call my board members.

Number 1 option was that God was gonna come through in 22 hours and raise $226, 000.

But we left God with that option, you know, we want to make sure we have some faith.

And then option number 2, that if we didn't get it, that we would ask them to give us more time to raise the money.

And then Option number 3 was that people had already donated about $200, 000 and that we could take that $200, 000 and that we could build a bigger radio station than the 1 we were in, which was very small, but it would not be as near as big as the 1 we're trying to buy, you know, the Fox building.

You know, can God really bring a new thing?

Can He really Do something out of the ordinary in today's world, you know, in 2018?

And the answer is yes, because God doesn't change.
