For a moment, allow your mind, your thoughts to travel back to a time when the earth was quiet.

Everything is still except for an occasional breeze through the trees and the gentle babbling of the streams.

It's almost like the calm before the storm and yet there is no storm.

Nature waits reverently for the Creator, The flower bowing gently with the prompting of a tender breeze.

The water rolls around as though bored with no 1 to entertain.

The clouds, they meander mindless, aimlessly across the sky, dragging as though they've yet to find their purpose.

The blades of grass, they periodically wave in unison as the wind orchestrates silently with a whisper.

It's as though nature longs for music, for some rhythm with which to gently sway to.

Today we are continuing in our series on creation with a look at day 5.

We began with day 1 when God said, let there be light.

We noted that though light is invisible by itself and uncontainable, we can see everything that light touches.

And so it is, it seems, from this vantage point with God.

On day 2 we noted how God created a haven for mankind by creating a blanket as it were for earth, a blanket we call sky.

And so between the waters below and the waters above there is this perfect safe place for man to dwell.

We then noticed how on day 3 God created land and and divided the waters, told the waters to stay put so that dry land could then appear.

And then rather than leave the land just simply barren, he decorated it, much like a parent decorates the nursery in anticipation of the soon arrival.

And then we read how on day 4, which we studied last week, how God went back and He decorated the sky with time pieces and objects that allow us to value time.

Lord, please reveal the secrets of your love as painted throughout creation for us.

Make it come alive through the beauty of your word.

Help us to appreciate most of all the creator who gave us so lovingly this creation.

And Lord, we're here today not just to recognize creation, but to recognize how you provided for our recreation.

And I pray, Lord, that you would do your appointed work in each of our hearts that we might Behold Jesus and be changed by him.

So watch again as the sun lazily crawls out of bed as it were, and slowly rises into the sky on this day 5, the flowers craning their necks to turn and face the light, the quietness broken by the soft hum of voices, the Trinity in conversation.

Imagine as God strolls through the meadows and hills, the beauty enfolding him.

He feels the stillness and the silence that surrounds him, but this is about to change as he prepares to create joyful music on this day.

Something to serenade nature to sleep at night, something to awaken it as the sun rises, And so God speaks.

God said, let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures and let birds fly across the face of the firmament of the heavens.

And so God created great sea creatures and every living thing that moves with which the waters abounded according to their kind, And every winged bird according to its kind, and God saw that it was good.

And God blessed them saying, be fruitful and multiply and fill the waters in the seas and let birds multiply on the earth.

And so the evening and the morning were the fifth day.

You may have noticed as we have been working our way through the creation story this this pattern emerging within the creation record on day 1 he made light on Day 4 he animates that light with the movement of the heavenly bodies.

On day 2, God created sea and he created sky.

And then on day 5, he created fish and birds to animate the sea and the sky.

On day 3, dry land appeared and on day 6 God would create creatures to populate that land, to animate it, to give it life.

There is a divine plan by which he first creates the environment, the landscape, if you will, and then he creates the life with which to fill it.

So it is that now nature sings and nature moves with rhythm.

The fish gather together in dark here and there, creating a pattern of both motion and almost a dance of sorts.

The birds sing a new song, happy and vibrant, as though finally nature can have a chance to express itself with music.

The beautiful painting of nature has become alive and draws the beholder into its ever-developing story.

But these living creatures provided more than just beauty.

Before nature was like a museum where 1 could meander and behold.

But now nature is like a sanctuary where praise is offered and fellowship is had.

For God created life on day 5, living creatures possessing both expression and intelligence, though on a lower order than the humans which would arrive the next day.

Just think, and 1 day God made all the various species of birds and fish which they tell us are around 11, 000 birds species and there are said to be over 34, 000 species of fish at Godspoke.

From the bee hummingbird which weighs only 0.069 ounces to the great blue whale which weighs 90 to 120, 000 tons.

The bee hummingbird measures only 2 inches in length and is often mistaken for a honeybee although a big 1.

Its wings flutter 80 times per second or even 200 times per minute during courtship and its heart rate of this little hummingbird can reach up to 1260 beats per minute.

Meanwhile, the blue whale's tongue, his tongue, weighs around 2.7 tons.

That puts a new idea spit on this thing, they got a big heart, right?

What's remarkable is that these massive creatures, they sing, remember I said God made life, he made music on day 5.

The big whale sings the loudest and has the lowest frequency of all singers on earth.

In fact, their frequency is so low that we can't hear it without devices.

Their songs can travel up to 1000 miles through the ocean waters.

And each population of blue whales has its own unique dialect, or shall I say, composition.

And God created this symphony of music all on day 5.

He says, you will show me the path of life and your presence is fullness of joy.

It sounds as though they believe when you listen to them.

I can remember going to class at Southern Adventist University on the promenade there, right actually fairly near the music building, between the music building and the boys dorm, there was this light post.

And on top of this light post, I can still remember this little bird singing with its chest all puffed out.

And it's easy to believe that in every note they put forth, they are giving praise to God.

It's as though when they puff that little chest out and they sing for all their worth, that the joy inside they can barely contain.

Look at how the fish swim and how they dance within the waters.

The dolphin emerging from its watery world is though unable to contain the joy beneath.

And so he exposes himself if but for a glimpse to release and praise God with his own his own manner.

And so Jesus reminds us, the thief, I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly.

He doesn't say he came to give us fancy houses, did he?

He didn't say anything about coming to give us smartphones or sports cars or the so-called good life, as man knows it.

He gave us himself, for That is what brings true happiness.

They are happy with life because it came from the hand of the creator and that is something to sing about.

You might be quick to say, well, come on, it's just a fish.

I want you to know, I just had nothing, I wasn't even looking into this for this purpose.

I just happened upon an article that said that scientists have their own way of trying to quantify pain within the animal world and they said that The rainbow trout, anybody see this article?

The rainbow trout is said to experience intense pain for 22 minutes when it's out of the water.

Now, I think I already kinda had an idea that that was true.

But some folks will say, oh, they're fine.

Jamie, my twin, said we should name him Simon.

Don't tell me that birds don't have intelligence.

He lived to be around 30 something, rather young for an African gray.

I need to move on, but I just have to tell you this.
