So glad to have you joining and watching as we continue an adventurous Bible study with friends around the table, challenging each other and learning from each other.

We study so many different exciting and interesting topics from the Bible.

This season is on growing in a relationship with God.

I am joined at this table today by some great friends of mine.

And I have here beside me, Paul, who is a great Bible scholar, and you're going to learn great things from today.

And Jemima, who works in a hospital setting.

She's going to teach us today how not to study the Bible.

And we have an international traveling, very cultured man, RJ, with us today.

And nice to have your wife, Shira, with us in the last episode.

And so today we are looking at, continuing to look at how to grow in our relationship with God and particularly through the Word, the Scripture and the Bible.

And that can be a great challenge because isn't Bible study boring?

So we're going to learn how not to make it boring, how to make it interesting, how to bring life to it.

And let's pray as we explore this exciting topic, R.J.

Father in Heaven, we're just so grateful once again to study your words with my brothers and my sister here.

I just pray that you give us the wisdom that we need and everything that we need to touch upon so that your name may be honored and glorified and many souls may be won into your kingdom.

As a result, in Jesus' name we pray, amen.

In verse, we always read a passage of the Bible, or several.

And today we are turning to the longest chapter in the entire Bible.

Do you know where that is at in the heart of Psalms?

And the theme of this chapter is God's Word, His judgments, His precepts, His laws, His commandments, and what they do for us.

And so let us learn as Paul reads Psalm 119, starting in verse 97.

You, through your commandments, make me wiser than my enemies, for they are ever with me.

I have more understanding than all my teachers, for your testimonies are my meditation.

I understand more than the ancients, because I keep your precepts.

I have restrained my feet from every evil way that I may keep your word.

I have not departed from your judgments for you yourself have taught me.

How sweet are your words to my taste, sweeter than honey to my mouth.

Through your precepts I get understanding.

You know, when you read this, I want to be this person.

Yes, so Jemima, tell us, we've got the law, the commandments, the statutes, the judgments, His word.

To keep us aligned with God, to ensure, I think there's in Proverbs, right?

The first few chapters of Proverbs, it talks about how this word will keep you in the narrow way.

The language that he uses there is so specific.

You know, for our wellbeing, God wants the best for us.

A lot of people think that God's Word binds us, it ties our hands, it doesn't allow us to live life to the fullest, doesn't allow us to enjoy life.

Throughout the Bible, like in Deuteronomy chapter 6, where the Lord is urging people to follow his way.

The Lord says, keep this so that you may enjoy long life.

The Lord says, so that you may prosper and be kept alive.

1 author says, God's word doesn't bind us, it girds us.

There's a wonderful author I love to read, and he says, a train that's on the tracks, it's limited.

But a train that is derailed, it's free of the tracks, but it's not going anywhere.

It's a wreck that's just lying on the side of the tracks.

When we are on the tracks, when we are following God's word, it helps us flourish.

It helps us go forward and live life abundantly.

And then if you see here too, I mean, it also promises that it will give us an understanding heart, right?

Yeah, you know, God literally asked him, but what is it that 1 thing, you know, you can ask for what it would be?

And then, you know, it could have been riches, it could have been all of these things, but He asked for wisdom and an understanding heart.

And here the Bible promises that when we study, I mean, you know, yeah, the Bible promises that when we study, I mean, you know, yeah, the Bible promises that when we study this, God will give us wisdom.

And as a result of that, while following wisdom, everything else will follow.

And In addition to all these things, it says that it is sweeter than honey to my mouth.

It's also for our, it tastes sweet to us.

How can we make the Bible enjoyable to us so that we are attracted to it, drawn to it, enjoy it?

Or is it something like, oh, it's an obligation or, what do you think?

So, The way that I can explain it the best way is there was a professor, right?

There was a professor and then there was a student in this class.

And the student in this class, you know, she would go through, you know, she would go to this class and then the professor would be like, hey, You know, we have something for you guys to study.

And I want you guys to read this chapter, read this book.
