This message was presented at the GYC 2011 conference.

Www.gc.org Good morning everyone and welcome to GYC and welcome to this module where we will be talking about the Holy Spirit.

I'm going to invite you to pray with me because we wanna get right into the word of God.

And by the way, how many of you have your Bibles?

Heavenly Father, we come before you at this time, Lord, because we are in need of a word from you.

Father, we want to know what it means to have the Holy Spirit.

Please, Lord, I ask that you would take this message, Lord, and...

Lord, allow it to reach the hearts of your people.

We want to be ready for your soon coming.

And we want to know what it takes to be prepared for that soon coming.

I have decided to ask a question at the beginning of each presentation that I will do today.

And I think it's a very telling question.

The question is, do you really want the Holy Spirit?

Because I don't know after these presentations you might think twice about what you're asking for.

What does it mean to really really want the Holy Spirit?

I mean are you really ready for the Holy Spirit?

Are you really wanting the Holy Spirit to fill you?

Because we look at the glorious side, we look at the things that come with the Holy Spirit, the preaching of the gospel and you know the finishing up of the work.

But I want to share with you today that when we ask for the Spirit, we really need to count the cost what we're asking for.

So, I've entitled this message, The Unknown Jesus.

And what we're gonna do today is we're gonna take a look at some parables.

I want you to open your Bibles, first of all to the book of 1 John.

The Bible says Hereby know we that we dwell in him and he in us because he has given us of his what?

So very simply then, the Bible lets us know that the way that we know Jesus, and in fact, the only way that we can know Jesus is by having the Holy Spirit.

The Spirit is given to us so that we can get to know Jesus.

And beloved, that's the whole point of salvation is we want to get to know Jesus.

Again the name of the message the unknown Jesus.

Do you really know what it means to know Jesus?

Do you really understand what it means to have the Spirit of God?

Because it is a Spirit of God that we need to prepare us for when Christ comes again.

How many of you want to be ready when Jesus comes again?

I want you to go with me first to the book of Matthew.

The Bible says, Watch therefore for you know not what hour your Lord doth come.

But know this, that if the good man of the house had known in what watch the thief would come he would have watched and not have suffered his house to be broken up how many of you are watching for Jesus is coming the Bible goes on to say therefore be also ready for in such an hour as you think not the Son of Man what comet the Son of Man comet notice what it says in verse 45 who then is a faithful and wise servant whom his Lord have made ruler over his household to give them meat in due season.

What does God call us to do while He is away?

To watch and he sets us over his household to give, what?

It goes on to say, Blessed is that servant whom his Lord, when he cometh, shall find so doing.

Verily I say unto you that he shall make him ruler over all his goods.

But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, my Lord, what?

Delayeth his coming and shall begin to smite his fellow servants." What does that mean?

To go after, to attack, to criticize, or whatever words you want to put in there, it is to be at odds with your fellow servants.

Notice what it goes on to say, and to eat and drink with the drunken, the Lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour when he is not aware, and he shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth." We don't want to be part of that weeping and gnashing of teeth.

We want when Jesus comes, we want him to be able to look at us and say, well done, good and faithful servant.

Well, this parable leads us into a second parable.

Now Matthew 25 verse 1 you'll notice there that Jesus actually just keeps on speaking.

So this is a continuation of what we've just read.

And now we find being introduced the parable of the what?

In fact, I'm going to show you that all the parables we will look at today actually connect.

Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto 10 virgins which took their lamps and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

And 5 of them were wise and 5 were foolish.

I want you to jump back and look at that word then in verse 1 then shall the kingdom so when is then All right, it would have been according to the verses we read before at that at the end of time when when The hypocrites are given their portion at that time.

The Bible says then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto 10 virgins.

5 of them were wise, and 5 of them were foolish.

Now, look at this word foolish, and You know what it says in Strong's Concordance?

It says, They that were foolish took their lamps and took no what?

The Test of the Spirit, Part 2

Dot o-r-g Heavenly Father, we once again ask that you would speak to us Lord.

Father, we We want to have an experience with the Holy Spirit.

We're here, Lord, to understand what it means to have the Spirit dwelling in our lives.

Lord, as we continue to look for your word, please, I ask that you would continue to speak to our hearts.

Draw us closer to you as our prayer in Jesus name.

Be with me Lord as I present this message Lord and may we gain a greater understanding of what the Spirit is trying to do in our lives.

Once again, I've entitled this message, The End Time Concert.

And I'll begin it with the same question do you really want the Holy Spirit after the first message you heard you still want the Holy Spirit all right I'm asking the question again do you really want the Holy Spirit?

I want to talk to you about the work that the Spirit of God needs to do in our lives in order to prepare us for the end times, in order to prepare us for Christ's second coming.

And to do that, I'm going to talk to you about music.

It's the language of the soul, someone says.

The word music comes from mus, which means to meditate on, to think.

Music, we might best describe it as the expression of one's thoughts and feelings.

When you're listening to music, you are listening to the expression of the author's thoughts and feelings.

Music is very different from a dissertation.

Like, when we listen to music, it's almost as though we allow our emotions to just flow free, don't we?

I know emotion's a bad word here, but I'm just...

So, how many of you listen to music like this?

You connect in a way that is different from let's say reading a dissertation You know a music is is that poetic expression of one's thoughts and feelings Are you with me?

What do you think God's favorite song is?

And what I want to propose to you today, beloved, is that God wants to teach us how to sing that song.

If you have a good voice, throw it out because it doesn't matter.

An expression of the heart of the author.

Ellen White tells us in the devotional heaven, page 154, the song which the ransom ones will sing, the song of their experience, will declare the glory of God.

You see, beloved, a song is written based off of the author's experience.

There's a difference between singing some words off of a page and singing a song from Experience I'll give an example amazing grace Many of you have heard the song, all of you have heard the song I believe, and some of you may be able to testify, you know what, I used to sing that song, and I just sang it as words off of a page.

That family member died, that accident, that whatever it is, that thing happened, and now when you sing that song, are you with me?

You're no longer singing it as just words off of a page.

God is trying to prepare a people to sing the song of the Lamb.

Notice with me the book Christian Education, page 57 The theme of redemption is 1 that angels desire to look into.

It, that is the theme, will be the science and the song of the redeemed throughout the ceaseless ages of eternity.

Is it not worthy of careful thought and study now?

Isn't this song worthy of careful study now?

This theme, the infinite love and mercy of Jesus, the sacrifice made on our behalf, calls for the most serious and solemn reflection.

We should dwell upon the character, by the way, can somebody tell me what character is made up of 2 things?

Song is the expression of one's character or thoughts and feelings.

So the song of the Lamb is really a song about His character.

And when we're understanding this concept that Jesus, that God wants to teach us how to sing the song, what we're really learning is that He wants to give us the experience of Jesus.

Because by having the experience of Jesus, we develop the character of Jesus.

And when we then sing the song of the Lamb, we are singing not as though we're reading words off of a page, but we are singing because it was the song of our experience.

Which means if you don't have the experience, you get cut from the choir.

Yes, beloved, there's going to be an end time choir, and if you don't know how to sing the parts.

And if I can put it like this, the Holy Spirit is the conductor.

The Holy Spirit is the 1 that is seeking to teach us how to sing the song.

It goes on, we should dwell upon the character of our dear Redeemer and intercessor.

We should meditate upon the mission of Him who came to save his people from their sins.

As we thus contemplate heavenly themes, our faith and love will grow stronger, and our prayers will be more and more acceptable to God, because they will be more and more mixed with faith and love.

The Power of the Spirit, Part 1

Lord, we want to ask that as we open your word that you would once again speak to us, Lord, that you would help us to catch a glimpse of your character and Lord that you would indeed change us into your image in Jesus name we pray amen so second Corinthians 13 8 simple verse it says we can do nothing against the truth but for the truth we can do nothing against the truth but for the truth.

I like the fact that God's Word accomplishes what it says it will accomplish.

And even when the devil does all that he tries to do, God's word still stands fast.

We can do nothing against the truth but for the truth.

I want to open up with just laying the foundation, laying the foundation of evolution.

Now I want to let you know that you're not here to hear a talk on science so don't worry I'm not going to you know attempt to speak over your heads but want to put this in a simpler way as I can.

Evolution is a concept that out of chaos comes what?

There is also involved in the concept of evolution, the theory that humans evolved from lower life forms, or that apes and man share a common ancestor.

So you've evolved from animals and this over long periods of time.

Number 3, there's a concept of adaptation that teaches that certain species survive based on their ability to adapt to their surroundings.

You've heard the term survival of the what?

Fitness being their ability to adapt to that particular environment.

And number 4 is the concept that the evolutionary process lasts as long as life lasts.

As long as this world lasts, We will continue to evolve.

Although I've read something very interesting the other day that there are some scientists who believe that humans have stopped evolving.

Everything else will continue to evolve, but we just coincidentally have reached our no more fingers.

So, the faith of an evolutionist is pretty strong, wouldn't you agree?

Because they are depending upon faith to believe something in which there is no what?

Like if Christians had the faith of evolutionists, it You turn this world upside down.

Evolution, how many of you believe that evolution is a counterfeit of creation?

I mean, it's obviously something the devil is using to supplant creation.

Let me say it again, Evolution is a counterfeit of creation.

Let me say it again, evolution is a counterfeit of creation.

I want to challenge that notion that evolution is a counterfeit of creation.

I don't believe that evolution is a counterfeit of creation.

Let me read to you the definition of a counterfeit.

To counterfeit means to illegally imitate something.

Counterfeit products are often produced with the intent to take advantage of the superior value of the imitated product.

So in order for a counterfeit to be a counterfeit it has to look like the genuine.

Is there any such thing as a counterfeit $6 bill?

No, because there's not a genuine $6 bill, right?

But there is such a thing as a counterfeit $10 bill, right?

It's because it looks almost like the real thing.

Now how many of you realize that evolution and creation are 2 totally different concepts?

So evolution, even though it is a counterfeit, it is not a counterfeit of creation.

So if you're with me so far, let me see your hands.

Okay, I know it's kind of scary because we're, you know, we're, evolution is a counterfeit of...

But all I'm saying is that it is not a counterfeit of creation.

Creation says 1 thing, evolution says something totally different.

Alright, so, I do believe that evolution is a counterfeit though.

The devil is not, he does not come up with things on his own.

Wherever you find a counterfeit, there must be a genuine.

The devil is not creative, did you know that?

So the question is, what is evolution a counterfeit of?

And to answer that question I'd like to take you first to the book of Psalm 33 verse 6 and verse 9.

I want to take a look at creation very quickly.

The Bible says here, By the word of the Lord were the heavens made, and all the hosts of them by the breath of his mouth." Now notice verse 9, "...for he spake, and it was..." what?

He commanded, and it stood fast." Now this is what we call the creative Word of God.

How many of you appreciate the creative Word of God?

You see in creation, everything that God did, He speaks and it was so.

And so we find that the Word of God has this creative element that when God speaks, things come right into existence.

There was a change that occurred in the book of Genesis and you know the change.

They ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.

Man had sinned and now man needed to be saved.

And so the question is how was man to be saved?

And I want you to go with me to the book of Romans chapter 1.

The Bible says, for I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believe it, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.

The Power of the Spirit, Part 2

Dot o-r-g okay have you guys been blessed so far?

Praise God, praise God all right this final message today is hopefully designed to encourage us in our in our process of changing through the Holy Spirit and And then tomorrow I'll have 2 more sessions or 2 more messages.

1 message will be entitled the fourth decree.

It'll be the closing message and if you can be here I really encourage you to be here for that it is a message that that shows us what can be done as far as the latter rain goes how quickly we can finish the work once we are filled with the Spirit of God and we want to finish the work quickly amen amen and then the message before that is a mystery message it's a mystery message now I'm not going to tell you what it is because I don't know yet what it is So you come and find out and I'll find out with you.

I'm still praying on what the Lord had me to share for that first message and then the second 1 will be the fourth decree.

So having said that, what we're gonna do is this message is going to be a little bit shorter because we want to spend some time in prayer and then at 435 someone's gonna come in here and grab me from the pulpit and take me right out so that no 1 can talk to me because we have to all the speakers need to be at a meeting somewhere.

Anyway, so if you have any questions for me, you can bring those questions tomorrow and we'll have another question and answer session tomorrow, okay?

So, let's have another quick word of prayer, and then we will, jump right into this, final message.

Heavenly Father, We once again come before you and ask Lord that you would just grant us your spirit.

Show us once again Lord what you are trying to do in our lives.

Show us how you desire to prepare us to meet you when you come.

May we be encouraged Lord and may we know that with you on our side who can be against us.

The Bible speaks of a period of 400 years in which the children of Israel would serve as slaves.

It was not until Genesis 47 where we find the children of Israel have moved to Egypt because Joseph, now being the second in command, has invited them to come to Egypt and they're given the land of Goshen and there they grow and they prosper into a great multitude.

And then you know the story of a pharaoh that rose up that did not know Joseph.

And the children of Israel went into captivity.

And After 400 years, a deliverer came on the scene.

And you remember that when Moses was born, there was a decree to kill all the baby boys.

Satan had moved through Pharaoh to destroy Moses.

The children of Israel have been led out of Egyptian captivity.

And in Exodus 17, we find a powerful story, beginning with verse 5.

The Bible says, and the Lord said unto Moses.

So the people thirsted there for water, and the people murmured against Moses and said, wherefore is it that thou has brought us up out of Egypt to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst?

When the children of Israel began this journey, they were excited.

We're out of the promise, we're headed to the promised land and 1 of the first things they do, Exodus 17.

In Exodus 15, they had crossed over the Red Sea and they were celebrating and not shortly afterward they begin to complain that you brought us out here to kill us.

And the Lord said unto Moses, Go on before the people and take with thee of the elders of Israel and thy rod, wherewith thou smotest the river, take in thine hand and go.

Behold, I will stand before thee there upon a rock in Horeb, and thou shalt smite the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink." That's powerful.

God doesn't say, strike the rock, and then the people will drink.

And I will stand upon that rock and then smite the rock.
