Messenger of the Covenant, Part 2

Father in heaven, we thank you for your love and mercy.

The privilege that we have now to come in peace and to study your word.

I ask now for the gift of your Holy Spirit in greater measure than we had in the last session that you take these truths and you drive them deep into our hearts.

Let's have the review right here on the screen.

What does a cloud in the rainbow represent?

What does the face like the sun represent?

And Jesus is the 1 highlighted as his face shining like the sun.

So we came to the conclusion that this angel that came down from heaven can be none other than the divine 1 Jesus Christ The covenant-keeping God who is leading his people in the time of their darkness We saw that the feet on the earth represented God claiming territory that this place belongs to him.

We saw that the lion roars when he roars like a lion.

God is threatening the enemies of the saints.

So now we're going to do with the seventh thunder.

And we're looking now at verse number 4, verse number 3, verse number 3, revelation 10 verse 3 it says, and cried with a loud voice as when a lion roars and when he had cried 7 thunders uttered their voices.

So as I was reviewing this morning, I was going through my mind, a visual came to my mind for the first time.

I've never had a visual in my mind about this, but you can imagine the angel cries and his voice sounds like a roaring lion, but there's a response to him back and the response back sounds like 7 thunders.

So he does not sound like 7 thunders, but there's a response back to him That sounds like 7 thunders.

So now let's go to Exodus chapter 19 and let's examine what the 7 thunders could possibly mean.

Exodus chapter 19 and we're going to begin reading, we could do the whole thing but we don't have time for that.

And again, we'll take volunteer to stand and just read for us, please.

So that all the people that was in the camp trembled.

And Moses brought forth the people out of the camp to meet with God.

And they stood at the nether part of the mountain.

And Mount Sinai was all together on a smoke, because the Lord descended upon it with fire.

And the smoke thereof ascended as the smoke of a furnace, and the whole mount quaked greatly.

And when the voice of the trumpet sounded long and waxed louder and louder, Moses fainted, and God answered him by voice.

And the Lord God came down from Mount Sinai, on the top of the mount.

The Lord called Moses up to the top of the mountain and Moses went up.

I was distracted by my family there for a second.

So verse 18 says and on Mount Sinai was altogether a smoke because the Lord descended upon it like fire and smoke thereof ascending as the smoke of a fiery furnace jump down to chapter 20 verse 18 again.

It's highlighting God's interaction with his own creation verse 18 who will stand and read that 1 for us.

And all the people saw the thunderings and the lightnings and the noise of the trumpet and the mountains smoking.

And when the people saw it, they removed and stood afar.

All right, so now the people see the thunderings and the lightnings and they are afraid.

I want you to go to Job chapter 40 in verse 9.

What is happening in these in these passages who is speaking what's transpiring Job 40 and verse 9 this time of my brother that was standing in green, brother Bill, go ahead and stand up man, you got beat out twice there.

Hast thou an arm like God, or canst thou thunder with a voice like him?

So Mount Sinai, God speaking, and sounds like thunder to the people and the people are going to high.

And now the book of Job is highlighting that God's voice sounds like thunder.

The Lord also thundered in the heavens and the highest gave his voice, hail and stones and coals of fire.

All right, so the Lord thundered in the heaven.

The voice of the Lord is over the waters.

We're going to jump down here to John chapter 12 verse 23 through 32.

We're trying to identify the imagery that is being put before us in regards to these 7 thunders.

And Jesus answered them, the hour has come for the Son of Man to be glorified.

Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone.

And whoever hates his life in this world, will keep it for eternal life.
