Welcome to the Shepherd's Call with Christian Berdahl, his wife Kobi, and 2 sons Tyler and Micah.

I think about so many of you while we are producing these messages each month, so the extra time that has passed since our last message has been too long for me.

At the end of the message today we are going to share with you 1 of the songs from the Narrow Way program that is almost complete.

The message Christian is going to share today is called Doctrine of peace.

Dear God, please help you to give us power so we can be good boys like Daniel when he was a kid.

And please help us to be nice and loving.

And thank you for my nice family and the Bible.

And you know, you're getting better at it.

You're getting stronger and stronger in Jesus.

Well, I hope that you have the same testimony too, my friend.

I hope that you have been growing stronger and stronger in your walk with Jesus.

Have you ever tasted that deep peace and rest that God has planned for each of us to continually experience when we grow stronger and stronger in Him?

Have you ever considered that God has provided a way for us to have rest unto our souls and peace in our minds through knowing the truth and having that deep experience with Him?

Yes, friends, there's a peace in knowing that there's a way out of the sin problem that we have and that we can choose to embrace an amazing future with God in heaven.

But, friends, I also believe that true Bible doctrines, I believe that they bring a tremendous level of peace as well.

John 8 32 says, "...and ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free." I was in the country of New Zealand a few years back preparing some messages for a camp meeting when I was struck with the overwhelming thought that I was a very privileged human being.

God somehow got a hold of me and he plucked me out of the world and he taught me truths, truths that brought tremendous peace and rest to my wandering soul.

Jeremiah 29.13 says, And ye seek me and find me when ye search for me with all your heart.

You see, I found that as I began to search for God with all of my heart, I found the Lord of Peace.

And as I look back, among the many things that He taught me, He taught me sound, biblical doctrine and they brought freedom and peace to my life.

But how can knowing doctrine make us free and afford us the peace that's supposed to pass understanding?

Unfortunately, many Christians believe today in the liberal climate of Christianity, that if you share doctrine, if you teach doctrine, that it's old-fashioned, or that it's not quote-unquote relevant today, or that it will turn people off.

I believe that every truth that God has given to us, when understood accurately, brings peace.

And since each person is looking for peace, then it stands to reason, if truth is presented and lived accurately, If doctrines are presented and lived accurately, then the great peace that everyone is seeking is the result, and therefore, friends, it's the most relevant thing that we can share.

I've also discovered that if I don't have peace about a doctrine that I've been taught, then either it's a false doctrine or I don't understand it correctly.

I'm not saying, well I don't think I want to make that change.

What I'm saying is when we're looking at doctrine and we see that, well that just doesn't seem to add up with the Bible.

I don't know, something's contradicting that.

If it's not sitting right with us, if it doesn't set us free but burdens us down, there's something wrong.

Because John 8, 32 said, And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

So if I'm burdened down by my truth, or it's just not sitting right with me, then something's wrong.

We're either trying to embrace something that God doesn't want us to embrace, like false doctrine, which can never bring peace, or we're looking at the truth incorrectly from a distortive perspective.

The Bible tells us to think on sound doctrine, and when we look at sound doctrine, it brings sound peace.

The time will come, Paul wrote to Timothy in 2nd Timothy 4 3 to 5, when they will not endure sound doctrine, but after their lusts shall heap to themselves teachers having itching ears that they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and the truth shall be turned into fables." – False Doctrines Gospel Workers, page 311 Sound Doctrine is Bible Truth So there's our definition.

Sound doctrine is Bible truth, truth that will promote piety and devotion, confirming God's people in the faith.

You see, if you have ever been sold a doctrine that does not promote piety and devotion confirming you in the faith, then it's a false doctrine.

Sound doctrine, I'm reading on, means much to the receiver, and it means much too to the teacher, the minister of righteousness, For wherever the gospel is preached, every laborer, whatever his line of service, is either true or untrue in his responsibility as the Lord's messenger.

Friends, I want to be true in my responsibility today as the Lord's messenger.

So I hope to share some of our doctrines and beliefs in a way that maybe you haven't looked at them before.

In a way that helps you to see the beauty of knowing the truth and knowing doctrine and hopefully you will start to find the peace in knowing solid doctrine.

In 1 Timothy 4.13 it says, Till I come, give attendance to reading, to exhortation, and to doctrine.

Verse 16, take heed unto thyselves and unto the doctrine.

For in doing this thou shalt both save thyself and then that hear thee.

If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, what things?

Remembering the doctrine, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.

And how did God just say that we can be nourished up?

Quote, by words of faith and of good doctrine.

Friends, The pure Christian life is just that.

I looked into various religions and I was taught what they believed, but I must confess that I never found true peace with many of the teachings that I heard.

I found texts in the Bible that seemed to teach the absolute opposite of what I was being taught.

Through a number of years of study, I found that by letting the Bible explain doctrine itself, that those contradictions fled.

Sometimes during my study with people that knew their Bible well, I would use my own man-made ideas and opinions trying to present arguments to debate their Bible doctrine, only to find out that a lot of what I had been taught before was not solidly founded in the Word of God, but rather on tradition that had been hounded down from generation to generation.

I was making the Word of God of none effect through your tradition.

I couldn't disprove by honest open Bible study what was being revealed to me.

And when I began to look at what the Bible plainly taught on various subjects, the peace that I had been searching for filled my soul, friends.

I experienced a deeper, settled, peaceful faith when I embraced what the Bible taught on various subjects.

First Peter 5.10 says, But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Jesus Christ, God's calling us.

I know you're here on the earth, but hang on.

I will establish you, strengthen you, and I will settle you.

If we were to look at every single pillar of our faith dear friends we would discover that they bring peace they bring strength and a settling It's an honor for God to present to us truth and an honor to embrace the truth.

So let's look at a number of doctrines, only spending a couple of minutes on each.
