Something Worse

But today I'm gonna be talking about something a bit different, which is actually the same thing.

So, you know, we've been talking about, like, you know, we talk about real relationships, relationships, you know, how God has a better plan than what the world offers us, right?

God has a better plan for purity, God has a better plan for purity.

He has a better plan for our social interactions, for the way we dress.

God has a better plan that actually, at the end, benefits us.

It's interesting, I went online and I said, well I typed in, I said, I was basically searching why does somebody come to Christianity?

Why does someone choose to follow Christ?

And I just typed in something along the lines of why do people come to Christ?

And these are some of the answers that I got.

So you don't get destroyed in hell, of course.

So that you can be forgiven, so that you can be born again.

So that you can know the truth, you can have a direction in life.

You know, if you don't have a direction in life, come to Christ, he'll give you a direction, amen?

So that you can be set free, set free from your addictions.

So that you can have the ability to pray, you can experience healing in your life.

So these are just a few of many of the blessings that happen when we come to Christ.

So that you can be mature, you know, if you're immature, like we're talking about, you know, the 40 year olds playing video games and all that.

Or like, you know, If you wanna learn how to be a better mom, you wanna become more mature, come to Christ.

You've never experienced true friendship, never experienced true comfort.

So that you can have an inheritance in heaven, right?

You know, we're supposed to not look upon the things of this earth, but look upon the things of heaven, right?

You know, when Christ comes again, that crown of glory that he's gonna be wearing, and that crown that he's gonna be giving us, and calling us good and faithful servants.

But, do you think that All these things is the ultimate reason of why we should come to Christ.

They're all great things, and these are all, these are all examples of the wonderful, of God's mercy and love for us.

But the thing is that, are we coming to Christ to get a list of benefits from him?

Are we looking for something better that Christ offers us or are we looking for Christ himself?

You know, everyone in this life, whether you're Christian or not, is looking for something better.

Who looks for something worse in their life?

Let me go marry the worst girl or guy that I could find so that my life could be miserable.

Everyone is looking for something better, right?

It's a natural outworking of our selfishness, right?

To look for something better for ourselves.

You know, my parents, as my brother mentioned, Korean parents, grow up with a convenience store, right?

Besides all the chocolate and candy that there was, there was also lottery, Right?

This 1 man, he would come in every single day, like without fail, around 3 or 4 o'clock.

And if you get 3 little icons in a row that match, you get $100.

Or people would come spend, he would sit there and spend hours, like a whole hour, just buying Nevada tickets, opening them 1 by 1, 1 by 1.

And what do you think his motivation was?

To get something better, isn't that true?

I invest $100, I'll spend $100 on lottery tickets, but I could possibly win millions, right?

And that's why the lottery business, even hospitals in Toronto use lottery as fundraisers, because it works, because people invest.

Worldly people, secular people invest in things if they know that there's a possibility of them getting something better in return.

That's Convocation Hall, where I, hopefully, if I pass all my courses, by God's grace, I'll be graduating next year.

When most of us are students or have been students, right?

You know, so we invest, like my tuition has been going up steadily by $1, 000 every year that I've been in school, right?

It started off at like, you know, $10, 000, it goes up, now it's like $13, 000.

It's going up, but we still pay the fees, right?

And we still spend all the time studying, don't we?

And all those all-nighters or teamwork, and we spend so much effort, we actually probably spend more time on schoolwork and brain on schoolwork than sometimes we study the word of God and knowing Jesus, right?

To gain a better job, a better future, a better intellectual mind, or whatever it is, whatever that motivation is.

In the school, In a secular school, you'll find tons of people from all walks of life, religious backgrounds.

Other people, worldly people, secular people, people who don't even believe in a god, they go to universities and study, and they invest a lot.

Because they want something better out of it.
