If Thou Hadst Known

We've heard a lot of truth today, a lot of truth.

And I was sitting here listening to my brother Earl present what God had given him to present us.

And I'm sitting there thinking like, man, I know I gotta drink more water.

I know I gotta quit snacking in between meals.

And I don't really eat a big breakfast in the morning.

And I'm listening to all these things, and I'm like, there's a lot for me to do.

And it's so interesting that as he's presenting this, I was thinking of the story that I read in the Spirit of prophecy of Moses when he had his hands up and the children of Israel were fighting.

And the servant of the Lord says that Joshua and the children of Israel had to fight and Moses had to hold his hands up and pray.

God could have just delivered them, but there was a part for them to do.

God has given us so much truth, and there's a part for us to do.

We're not willing to heed the instructions and help ourselves, why should we expect God to help us when he's given us truth to respond to?

The stone which the builders refused has become the headstone of the corner.

This is the day which the Lord hath made.

Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.

We have blessed you out of the house of the Lord.

God is the Lord, which hath shown us light.

Bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar.

Oh, give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good, for his mercy endures.

My Father, my God, Lord, we beseech you now for your spirit that has been here all day.

Finish this off, Lord, with your word of truth.

These were the very cries coming out of the mouths of the people assembled outside the walls of Jerusalem.

Their king had finally come to free them from the oppression of the Romans.

Look, O daughter of Jerusalem, thy king cometh riding upon the mule.

The significance of Christ Riding on that mule that day was not lost on many of the people.

You know it was custom for the kings of Israel to ride upon the mule, and here their king comes victoriously.

I declare to you today that that procession was unlike any procession in history, our history, that happened before that or after that.

Yes, there was no military pomp and parade.

But the very people in the crowd were the very ones who were gripped from the hands of Satan.

You see, when Christ was on that mule, it was the blind who now can see.

The dumb, whose tongues were loosed, were shouting the loudest hosannas.

The once crippled were the most active, climbing up the trees, breaking down the branches, laying them down before his feet.

The lepers, who were once lepers, now took off their untainted garments and laid them down before the Savior.

1 man who was rotting in the grave for 4 days, and now he walked in the strength of manhood, he led the mule upon which Christ rode, Lazarus.

And the scribes and the priests says, Jesus, you better rebuke these people.

And Jesus says, if I tell them to be quiet, the very stones will cry out.

Their king had come to finally liberate them from the Romans.

Imagine, if you will, you're the disciples.

For 3 and a half years, you were, you did not accept this authority.

Each time Christ was made or asked to be king.

You know, when he fed the 5000, the people tried to force him to be king.

The disciples, they all tried to pick him up.

He sent the people back home and he's told his disciples to go back to your ship.

Each time they tried to make him king, he rebuked them.

This time, he's riding on the mule as the king.

And the Pharisees and the Sadducees are saying, isn't this the same man that said, my kingdom is not of this world.

Now the disciples were thinking now is the time where Jesus will take his authority and we've been his right hand men for 3 and a half years.

Now's the time of not facing these Pharisees.

Now they will be put in their place and we will be put in ours next to the king." This whole procession was ecstatic with joy and shouts of praise.

And as they got to the top, they saw the city of Jerusalem.

The sun was setting at this time, and they all stopped as if in slow motion and looked upon the temple of God.

The beams of the sun just kissed the white marble walls.

It had gold-capped pillars, golden pinnacles that reflected beautifully with the sunset.

It had gold and silver vines intertwined around the front pillars of the temple, with green leaves and a cluster of grapes in the front entrance, signifying God's fruitful people.

The light that beamed on the temple seemed as if God himself was shining right there because this was the temple of God.

When the people saw this slow motion, picture-perfect scene, The breath out of their body seemed as if it was taken away.

And then they lifted up their voices in praise again, Hosanna to the highest!

But amidst all the praise and adoration and excitement, there was a bitter note of discord.

Amongst the Hosannas and blessed be He, there was a bitter wail of anguish.

The people turned around and they saw Jesus sitting on the mule, and his shoulders were going back and forth, up and down.

He was heaving and sobbing and moaning, bitterly weeping.

Christ had cried before outside the tomb of Lazarus, but these tears were unlike any other tears he had ever shed.

He was crying so much, he was broken so much that if he wasn't sitting on that mule, he probably would have fell on the ground.

The people around Christ, when they saw him crying, they started to cry, and they had no idea why they were crying.

Jesus had moans and wails coming out of him as he sobbed and he lifted up his hands and he looked at Jerusalem and he said, if thou hadst known, even thou, at least in this thy day, the things which belong unto thy peace.
