Righteousness by Evolution?

That was a lovely song wasn't it and I'm sure that our hearts are well prepared now to Open the word and to hear the Spirit speak to us and our topic today is About evolution but I'm going to share my this topic on evolution without talking about science.

It is not a discussion about the merits or the lack thereof of the scientific theory of evolution, but yet perhaps there's something more to it than just what we normally think so righteousness by evolution That's the topic of this morning.

Let's bow our heads for prayer Father in heaven as we open your word I ask that the spirit will speak to us.

That we may leave this place Christians in the truest and fullest sense of the word.

Evolution, I read in Merriam-Webster's 11th collegiate dictionary.

It is a process of continuous change from a lower, simpler, or worse, to a higher, more complex, or better state.

If I could try to summarize this in my own words, evolution is a process of continuous change in which something improves.

Now maybe we can add a little more meat to this definition.

I think we understand the concept of evolution well enough that we would agree to a few basic tenets or basic underlying principles of this idea of evolution.

Evolution we already established is a process in which something gets better, something is improving and innately this process requires time.

A process over time in which something gets better, but more than that, this thing, whatever is improving, is improving by its innate power, or just by itself, without some sort of supernatural or external intervention.

And finally, the judgment or the standard by which we measure whether something has improved or not is simply our human reasoning and human feelings.

For example, we see a creature out in the world and we said that animal has evolved from this lower life form, who are we to say that this is lower and that's higher.

It's just based on our human logic and human reasoning that we say this creature now is more fitted for whatever purpose it's intended for now as opposed to what it used to be.

So therefore we decide based on our own wisdom and understanding that it's improved.

Evolution, let me restate this, evolution then is a process in which something gets better over time by itself and is judged, its improvement is judged by our own thoughts and feelings.

And if you look at the history based on the evolution time scale, evolution as has progressed, there is a number or many ups and downs.

Things improve over time, improve, improve, improve, things diversify and then all of a sudden there's calamity, there's destruction and then the most fit, the strongest survive.

So there's a crash and then the process begins again ups and downs so that somehow there's a weeding out process So at the very end we get a better product an improvement.

So that's the process of evolution So now Have you ever heard someone say or have we ever said I want to be ready for Jesus to come.

I'm gonna try my very best to sin a little less tomorrow.

I'm gonna stop doing that sinful habit the next day.

So maybe 1 day, someday down the road in my own power I'll be ready for Jesus to come.

If we say to ourselves I'm doing the best I can but I'm not getting anywhere My life is just a series of ups and downs and I feel like I'm down so much more often than I'm up.

And if we say something along the lines of I don't feel like God can accept me I don't feel like a Christian I'm not good enough all of a sudden we are basing our standing on our own logic and our own feelings.

Perhaps if we're honest with ourselves there is a little bit of evolution still within each 1 of us.

But yet if we really think about it, the idea of evolution throws God out of the picture.

It places self on the throne so that somehow we will become better.

But yet if we really are just casual observers of the world, and if we really are just simply basing it off of our own human reasoning and logic, really are we improving over time?

Maybe we're getting more sophisticated, but are we really improving?

Let us pray that today we may leave this place Christians, Believers in the Creator God 08.

The Bible says, through faith we understand that the world were framed by the Word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

Psalm 33 verse 6 if you're there amen by the word of the Lord were the heavens made and all the host of them by the breath of his mouth.

Verse 9, skipping down, for he spake, and it was done.

Now what is the mechanism, based on these few verses we've read, what is the tool, what is the mechanism God used to create?

Hebrews 11 tells us that, the things which are seen are made by things which do not appear meaning the word spoke and Even though there was nothing everything came into being God spake and it was done.

So let's take a moment and just think together about the creation story.

And the earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep, and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

Now verse 3, I want to focus on this for a few moments.

Question, forgive me if I'm insulting your intelligence, but there's a point to this.

After God spoke those words, let there be light, How much time was required to elapse?

How much time did God have to wait before the light appeared?

Or, 000, maybe 1 long indeterminate period, length of time, like maybe a million years that's just represented symbolically in the Bible by 1 day is that what it's saying if God said let there be light instantly there was light the point is that with with God time is irrelevant Because if you really want to think about it, I'm not a physicist, but the speed of light is a finite number, isn't it?

And if God said, let there be light, and all of a sudden there was light everywhere, somehow, something must have happened faster than the speed of light.

And that's instantaneous as far as I'm concerned.

When God said, let there be light, was there some other additional source of power somewhere that God had to tap into or call to his assistance in order for the light to appear?

You're telling me that God can simply speak and he doesn't have to be on her back flip on the light switch for the light to turn on so I think we're in agreement here that number 1 creation occurs by the word of god and the word of god alone no external power is necessary and number and the other second thing we see here is that the word creates irrelevant of time God can speak and he may take a million years if he wants but His Word is capable of producing what it says it will produce instantly.

And of course, if you read the rest of the creation account on the sixth day, God actually Formed man out of the dust of the ground He breathed into his nostrils a breath of life and that took time That represents something rather significant about us.

God could have just snapped his finger and said Adam appear and Adam would have stood there But he took the time to form man.

But the issue here is what is required of God?

What does he need to help him accomplish the creative work?

And the answer is, nothing but the word and the word only.

Genesis 1 and verse 4, and God saw the light that it was what?

What is the determining yardstick if you will?

The grading scale on which goodness and badness is measured.
