Seven Keys to Sabbath Delights

Sing for Joy, I want to honor Ron Turner because when we were back east and we lived in Washington, D.C., but Ron Turner was in college at Columbia Union College, as we were, and across the campus we chose to go to the Washington Sanitarium and Hospital Church, The San Church as we call it.

We had a youth group that grew from about 20 or 30 up to 150.

19.5 Sanitarium and Hospital Church And anyway, Ron kind of was a blending between the Sligo Church and college youth and would come and join us.

And he just loved to have a song service that was what he called Sing for Joy.

And it was really adopted into our youth group and we'd sing and then we'd go out and sing in the hospital and go out and visit the community and sing to shut-ins and everywhere.

So a real strong ministry developed around singing of our experience of conversion and happiness in the Lord.

This was singing about the joy of the Lord.

So if you'll take your little songbook here this this has this doesn't have the music in it and I will say to all of you who are here early we do we're working on a website we have a website anyway now and we hope to have it the music on When we finally open it up after it's under construction to have all the music on here where you can just download it onto an iPod.

And so if you'll turn to number 23, these are the songs we would sing on our walks on Sabbath or in our groups with youth or adults.

And, we just had a wonderful time together.

But we found that more and more we needed to with different age groups and children to have the words along.

So I don't know if you've sung this song before.

If you want joy, real joy, wonderful joy, let Jesus come into your heart.

It's an older joy song, but we're focusing on the joy of your heart and my heart.

Let's sing together real slow to start with.

Your sins He'll wash away, Your night He'll turn to day, Your life He'll make it over anew.

12 Now you know, you mix about 2 or 3 or 4 testimonies into that of young people turning their life around and throwing the world and Babylon out and then you sing another joy song another song about Christ it just I don't know what it is and especially on Sabbath it's just to me electrifying now number 26 is another joy song.

Joy, joy, my heart is filled with joy, because my Savior watches over me.

That's the reason that my heart is filled with joy.

Okay, we need to sing that short little chorus again, but a little more peppy.

Have you had an experience with Christ recently, an answered prayer or something that's just lit your light up?

You reach into your joy now and sing it out.

Well that I would say Marianna is pretty good.

Number 5, The book actually is designed for us to use on Sabbath.

And we'll take a hymn that I know you love to sing about.

Because those who really pray and witness for Christ and study the Bible.

You just want to talk about Christ all the time.

So let's sing the first and second stanza and see how we do.

We'll really hold out the verses and see how long you can hold your notes but this kind of warm our hearts up now on this 1 okay he lives are you ready I serve a reason save yours in the world today I know that he is living whatever men may say I see his hand and mercy I hear his voice of cheer and just the time I need him he's always near he is he lives Christ Jesus lives today He walks with me and talks with me along life's narrow way.

In all the world around me, I hear His loving care.

And though my heart grows weary, I never will despair.

Through all the stormy blast, the day of His appearing will come at last.

He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today.

I know, I know that There's a good feeling in our group this afternoon 07.

So on the third verse we're going to really sing that chorus, okay?

Rejoice, rejoice, O Christian, Lift up your voice and sing.

Eternal alleluia to Jesus Christ the King, the hope of all who seek Him, the help of all who find.

The Mother is so loving, so good and kind.

And I don't know what it is, but there's a little difference to me between from praise to joy.

But for those of us who love to share our testimonies and go witnessing and love evangelism, joy just has a special place.

If you'll turn in your book to number 12, we're gonna look at a couple of songs now that may have been forgotten by some, but those of us in all of our soul winning just love these songs Because there's no greater joy than to see a brother or sister or mother father baptized you know that and a friend that you've been praying for giving Bible studies to and so This is part of the experience.
