We Can Do It!

I wasn't sure whether those were showers of blessing or showers of distraction just a few moments ago.

But I was just asking the Lord if it was his will that he could quiet it down a little bit.

So, we need the rain, but it was quite noisy.

Wow, that was really, that was quite, quite loud.

Not by might, nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the Lord.

I've always enjoyed in the morning time when it's quiet and dark, and some mornings it's very dark here, but I like to go out and walk to the end of the gate and back and just have a quiet time to think about the day, talk to the Lord.

I would run out to the gate, run back, go around the circle drive here, run back down, come back.

And 1 of those mornings when I was doing that, it was dark enough that I couldn't see who this was, but it was my second trip down to the gate coming up that hill just out there where they parked the bus.

I was coming up that hill and someone was coming down the hill and they said, you can do it.

Now those words of encouragement were actually very encouraging And I don't know if that person is still here at the camp or whether they had to leave earlier.

Right there, right there in the red shirt.

Those words were, you know, words that kind of came out of the darkness to me.

And I don't know if they were thinking I was about ready to have a heart attack or what, but, you know, I was breathing fairly intensely as I was going up that hill, but just at the moment I heard those words you can do it it just gave me yes I can do it I don't have to slow down I don't have to just walk I can do it we need that encouragement before we leave this camp meeting today.

We need to be encouraged that we can do exactly what God knows we need to do.

And 1 of the things that we're going to be sharing with you today is that it isn't all of what you've heard here today that God may be asking you to do today, or what you've heard through this camp.

What you need to know is that you can do what God wants you to do today and just for this day.

And it isn't what Restoration International has encouraged you to do.

That may not be all the things that God is asking you to do.

But whatever God is asking you to do, by His grace, through the strength and power that comes from God we can do what He's asking us to do and we can be the people that He's calling us to be.

And if you think it's not, you know, we come to camp meetings, we do a lot of them every year and it's just for you.

And I can tell you just as the Holy Spirit has spoken to each one's heart today, we have not been excluded over this past few days.

So we are excited about what God is going to do.

We are going to do something very different today, but we have a few questions to ask you.

We're gonna preface those questions with 3 thoughts because these are often the 3 most prominent responses we get back after a family camp.

We understand more fully what God has been kind of jiggling our minds up about.

And we are excited because now it's clear and we are going to go home and we are going to grow in this area as the Lord directs.

We hope that's the response of everyone here today.

Sometimes we hear these kind of words, we are so overwhelmed we do not know even where to begin.

All we have to do, It's going to be so hard.

Because we've just told ourselves it's going to be hard.

So that is 1 of the responses, being overwhelmed.

Or the other 1, these are the usual 3 we hear we are so discouraged I mean we were a mess when we came and we're leaving more beat up than when we got here Because we look around and we see all these perfect families with such obedient children and such wonderful marriages and we are a mess.

We are...I don't think we're ever going to come back again.

Fortunately, we don't hear that 1 too often.

Not usually we probably won't ever come back again, but yeah, there are people who don't ever come back again because The focus is not about what God can do and we can do in His power.

The focus is living in the past, looking at our mistakes, and dwelling there and being paralyzed by our past.

God is the God of creation, And when he speaks, miracles happen.

And so today we want you to decide which group you fit into.

Because maybe there's people in all 3 groups here today.

And maybe they wanna change which group they're in.

Because we can all walk out these doors today and for those of you who are live streaming you can when the program's over you can turn this off and you can say yes I want to be in the group that's encouraged.

We, our little family, myself, if it's just me, I can do whatever it is that God is asking me to do.

So how many of you have noticed the different, the new addition to family camp this year in the brochure.

This was intentional so that you walk away from here and obviously if those of you who have used them there's lots of note-taking sheets in here right?

There's a whole page for every meeting of the camp.

We hope that you filled them in, but even if you haven't, this is something that you can go back to and reference, because on the back is the title of every meeting that was at camp.

And just the titles, we're going to go through each meeting very briefly, and we're going to express the simplicity and the reality that it is possible we can do it.

So you have this as a keepsake from home and maybe on 1 of the days you're thinking about your family and you want to turn and just look at the words or re-sing this song in your head or sing it out loud, it's right there.

It's there to be something that will help to remind you, to encourage you to move forward.

You know, in John the sixth chapter, the disciples went through an experience like this, an experience like some of us may have, when the Holy Spirit comes to us and brings conviction.

It is not Restoration International that brings conviction, right?

It is the Spirit of God that instructs us and teaches us in the way that we should go.

And so Jesus is here talking with his disciples and you probably remember the scene where he's speaking to them that you need to eat of my flesh and drink of my blood.

And the disciples said to him, it says, many therefore of his disciples when they had heard this said, this is a hard saying, who can hear it?

So if somebody feels that way, that what's been brought to your heart, what has been pressed home to you is a hard saying, that might represent some hard changes, maybe breaking out of some hard ruts, maybe the Lord is calling to you to be more patient with your spouse or with your children or calling you to let go of something that's interfering with your time with God in the morning.

Whatever it is, it may seem like this is hard.

And as we go on here, it says many of the disciples walked with Jesus no more.

Oh, we hope that that kind of response won't happen when we hear something that seems like it's hard.

But when Jesus asked the disciples that were closest to him that he walked with day by day, he says, will you also go away?

And the response of the disciples was beautiful.

And I say to us today, have we not seen enough of life here in this world?

Have we not experienced enough of the heartache of selfishness?

If I can just do it my way, things will be better.
