Now let's take our Bible, let's go to Luke chapter 2.

We're gonna jump into this study, we're gonna go rapid fire because I wanna get us out here, hopefully by 1215 that is the goal, and Lord willing it'll take place.

Now if you were here 2 weeks ago, I talked about some interesting things.

I talked about how when Jesus was born on the earth, the angels, they cried out, glory to God, where?

So when Jesus came to the earth, all the angels were praising God, and they said, peace and goodwill towards men.

However, we learn that at the end of Luke, that when the disciples were praising Jesus because they thought he was about to be crowned king of Israel, they were saying glory to God in the highest, peace in heaven.

They believe as long as their plans were being worked out that peace was gonna take place in heaven, that heaven was finally going to be reconciled to earth.

But folks, we learned that heaven already made the first move.

But what we're going to do is we're going to revisit that story in Luke chapter 2.

There's some things I want us to take a good look at.

As I was studying this topic out a little bit more, I felt there were some other things that needed to be expressed.

And this is 1 of the most famous Christmas stories that you find in the Gospels.

But I want you to pay attention to Luke chapter 2 starting with verse 1.

You're going to see something very interesting about the context.

Because it's important to understand the world in which Jesus was born into.

Now it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from who?

Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be registered.

You know what's really great about the Bible that makes it different from all other books?

Because it talks about real people in real places.

This is what makes the Bible so unique, is that we can go back and we can verify the existence of these people and the existence of these real events.

So Luke chapter 2 starts off with something very interesting.

Because this was the highest authority that was existing on Earth at that time.

Now you may think to yourself, Anel, what's the big deal?

Well, it wasn't until I was studying out Caesar Augustus that some striking parallels were starting to come to the forefront of this topic.

Caesar Augustus was a very unusual emperor.

Now look at some of these parallels about Caesar Augustus.

There are actually calendars that have been discovered about Caesar Augustus.

And on these calendars it is written these words.

Now the word gospel simply means good news.

There are actually Roman calendars that have been discovered that actually use that phrase, the gospel has gone out to the entire world, but they're not talking about the gospel of the Bible.

They're talking about the so-called good news that Caesar Augustus was in town.

We actually have Roman calendars that say that.

Augustus was prophesied that he would be the savior of the world.

Caesar, Julius Caesar, was regarded by the Romans as God.

We're not looking at biblical sort of archaeology.

These are extra-biblical artifacts and manuscripts that have been discovered that are saying these things.

Think about Caesar Augustus, the highest known authority at that time.

He was called the Son of God, the adopted Son of God.

Caesar Augustus was not the natural-born son of Julius Caesar.

He ushered in what's called the Golden Era.

In addition to that, his coins were marked the advent of Augustus.

Now this is very interesting, because while all eyes were looking at Caesar Augustus, The adopted Son of God, the 1 who would usher in the golden era, the 1 where there's even manuscripts that describe Him sitting at the right hand of God.

The whole world is looking at Caesar Augustus, and they're looking at this counterfeit king.

At the same time, the real king of Israel is about to be born.

Now let's go back to Luke chapter 2 again.

Last 2 weeks, 2 weeks ago, I hit on this topic that's very interesting, but I want us to touch it again, okay?

Luke chapter 2, Luke chapter 2, look at verse 6.

And Saul was that While they were there, talking about Mary and Joseph, the days were completed for her to be what?

And she brought forth her firstborn son, wrapped him in swaddling cloths, and laid him in a what?

Manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

2 weeks ago, we learned that the word for manger is actually not the word manger, but it's the word what?

The Roman writer, excuse me, not the Roman writer, Luke himself needed to describe where Jesus was born, so he simply put phidtrof.

It would lead the readers to realize, oh, this was a manger, more like a cave.

3 times the word manger is actually mentioned in Luke chapter 2.

You go to any concordance, you will always see the word, and if you've got a very good Bible, it'll tell you right in the footnotes, the word for manger is phidrof.

Now take a good look at the other times it's mentioned in Luke chapter 2.
