Wilt Thou Be Made Whole?

Good morning to everyone and happy Sabbath to you all.

And the God of heaven inhabits the praise of his people.

And so I'd just like to, since time is moving, have another word of prayer with us.

And dear Father God in heaven, once again we come to thee because you are the God of Abraham and Isaac and Jacob.

And we realize, Father, that it is through the blood of Jesus Christ that we are able to gather in this place and on this campus.

And Lord, you inhabit the praise of your people, and Father, you are looking down from the throne of grace because you long for fellowship with your people.

And not only that Father, you want a people that can be a light to the world.

So now take control of this time of study.

Keep back the forces of darkness and let our hearts be open not to hear what a man has to say but we want to hear the voice of heaven.

As it's been stated last night, I assume as I believe that it was said that this weekend is entitled healthy, holy and happy healthy, holy and happy You know inspired writer wrote says that the body is the only medium through which the mind and character can be developed and hence this is where the adversary of the souls target his fiery darts.

And so we're going to study and I just want you to take mental notes, notes and paper notes because of the time factor we want to cover some material and hopefully we'll get the practical point.

Turn your Bibles with me to the book of John.

First of all, John chapter 5 will be our text, foundational text.

In John 5 the Bible reads beginning at verse 1 it says And after this there was a feast of the Jews and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

24 Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, 25 having 5 porches.

In these lay great multitude of impotent folk, blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.

For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool and troubled the water.

Whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.

Verse 5, And a certain man was there which had an infirmity 30 and 8 years.

And when Jesus saw him lie and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he said it to him, Will thou be made whole?

This will be our foundational text for this morning's study.

And as you notice the title, it raised that important question, will thou be made whole?

The theme of the Bible text that the Advent Hope Group has been using is 3 John 2 which is a very common, favorite, classical Bible text dealing with health.

If you have it in your Bible you see it on the screen.

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health even as thy soul prospereth.

Now for those who are English teachers, what does this phrase here mean?

So the Bible, God says I want you to be in health even as thy soul prospereth.

That means as we grow spiritually we as contrahentious Christians will guard our physical health.

I will go on to declare, ladies and gentlemen, those who embrace the truth of Jesus Christ, who walk day by day by his spirit and profess to be children of God, children of light, will not neglect their physical health.

It's impossible to truly be a Christian and say I'm going to eat, dress, live any way I want to live.

God is looking for a people that he can manifest his glory And I've experienced that over 32 years ago.

I said Lord you have an enlightened people we have the truths We have the knowledge But God What you're looking for is a people that can demonstrate that in their lives, you know, I learned I'm not a mechanic But I learned this it takes more battery power To cause a light on an automobile to shine than a horn to blow I don't know if you got that.

It doesn't take much power to cause a horn to blow.

It doesn't take a lot of power to make noise.

Let there be light and God said it was light So therefore as I study text goes we want to go back set a foundation here in the book of Genesis chapter 2 Verse 7 we talked about that last night.

I just want to set a foundation here as we move quickly into our study.

The Bible tells us that God out of the dust of the ground created man and there are components that brought this living entity.

The dust of the ground, the breath of life, and man became a living soul.

And so as I just begin to analyze that, I believe man is made up of 3 components.

As we look at the dust, as we look at the breath of life, and as we look at the very living soul I can associate it with the mental and the spiritual and the physical qualities of man.

Otherwise, in other words, I believe that man is made up of 3 qualities physical, mental, and spiritual.

And everything else fits into that category, whether it's social or emotional.

Keep this in mind, because it's going to be on your test at the end of the study here.

Number 2, number 3, and therefore these 3 qualities cannot be departmentalized.

The mind is over here, the spirit is over here, and the body's walking around somewhere else.

I remember, even though I'm from Chicago, I was born in the South and I was a young man and I remember my mother used to raise chickens.

She had a little chicken pen and she raised chickens to eat.

I think I was probably maybe about 3 years of age and I remember her going into the chicken pen, chasing the chicken down and she will grab the chicken by the neck.

Case in point here, let me get this apparatus here.

And she will grab the chicken by the neck and just begin to wring the neck and then she will pop the neck.

She take the chicken then to the chopping block and cut the neck off.

Young man trying to reconcile this in my mind.

How can a chicken be moving without a neck for a little while growing up in Chicago as a young man used to get in a little difficulties my mother would say son you're running around here like a chicken with your neck cut off what she was saying ladies and gentlemen you're not using your head are you following me and so when the mind is controlled by someone else your body will be controlled by that same source.

It is the mind we serve the Lord and there's a battle between the mind between 2 powers for your mind and whoever control your mind control your destiny.

Are we running around here like a chicken with his neck cut off?

And it seemed like we're doing all right, but we're not using our minds.

And so what does it mean to be made whole When Jesus asked that question to that man that was there at the pool of Bethesda.

In the book of Mark chapter 2 verse 17 the Bible declares and the reason I'm putting this on the screen because I know time is a factor I just want to move quickly Usually I like you to follow me in the scripture, but open up your word and you can put it...
