Book of Nature, The Nature of the Book

All right, well let me start with a word of prayer and we'll get underway here.

Dear gracious Heavenly Father, Lord, again, we ask for your presence to be here with us in this place and speak to our hearts.

Lord, you've given us So much to, so much that we have no excuse to not understand, Lord, what you are doing for us and what your plan is for us and how we need to conduct ourselves and what things are beneficial and what things are not.

So Lord, I just pray that you open our minds and open our hearts to the things that you'd have us known.

We ask these things in the precious name of Jesus.

So this talk I've called the Book of Nature and the Nature of the Book.

He had a couple talks called The Book of Nature and The Nature of the Book.

2 separate talks, I've combined them into 1 here.

But The Book of Nature, really, God's given us 2 great lesson books, has he not?

And they each can teach us about the other, as we just saw with farming.

In Isaiah 26, 3, the Bible says, I will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee.

So when we focus our attention on God, on the things of God, on Christ, we have peace.

The second we take our eyes off Him, we start looking around, it's like Peter.

So, to keep our eyes focused on Christ is probably the most important aspect of our Christian walk.

The sanctuary message, when you look at that table of showbread, do you remember what that table of showbread actually, what the bread was actually called?

It was called the bread of the continual presence.

So, the Word of God is to be continually present within our mind, within our hearts.

And remember, that incense was burning what?

The Bible talks about us living in a spirit or having a spirit of prayer, right?

It doesn't mean we're on our knees all the time, but that we have that right there at the back of our mind, Lord, what would you have me do here?

This person's saying this, how would you have me respond?

To get in that habit of constantly sending up prayers to God, because he's speaking to us.

Those 2 aspects right there, what a beautiful representation.

Remember God, Christ said, unless you eat my flesh and drink my blood, right?

If you look at that, that's an analogy of consuming the Word.

Life, blood circulates through the body bringing life.

Our prayers should be a circular, life-giving type of prayer, right?

Praying to God as if we were praying to a friend, talking to a friend.

And then, listening to the still small voice as God speaks back to our hearts.

The seven-branched candlestick represents our continual witness, A light upon the hill.

It's interesting, that 7 branch candlestick, it was the only article of furniture in the holy place that was solid gold.

The rest of The table of showbread and the altar of incense were wood overlaid with gold.

Talking about the cold labor that man has with God.

But our witness has nothing to do with us, really.

And The second that we get a little, oh yeah, that was me.

So the fact that that candlestick was solid gold, it's Christ in us.

And does anybody know from Jewish history what the wicks were made out of?

Shredded into strips were used as wicks in the 7 branch candlestick.

But soaked with the oil of the Holy Spirit, we can become a light on a hill.

The rag is just the conduit for the oil to be drawn up out of the candlestick to bring light to a darkened, bleak world.

He's given us so many examples of just the whole, I mean, the sanctuary message being this whole just beautiful picture of salvation.

How many of you have been listening to Ivor's blueprint message?

I praise God for the things that the Lord's been showing that man.

So let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.

It's so pervading the human that it's God's mind within us.

The psalmist writes in Psalm 119, 1-3, Day unto day uttereth speech, and night unto night showeth knowledge.

There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard.

So God is speaking through everything, right?
