You know, every time I hang around God's people, it's such a special thing.

Because with hanging around you guys, you get a taste of heaven.

And when you go down the hill, you don't always get that.

But I just appreciate you guys very much.

As I said before when I first stood up here, we need to treasure these moments.

God has given us the beauty of our brains to remember things.

And in our moments of despair, he gives us memories so we can pull up memories such as these to give us hope.

So we can remember the commitments we've made, the dedications and the promises we've made to Him.

So you can remember the victories that He's wrought in your life.

So that your memories can give you courage to push on.

And so, it is my request that you pray for me As I stand here, a sinner like all of us, that the Lord will use me to speak a word from heaven for myself and for you.

Oh, loving Father, we are so thankful, Lord, that you have called us to this mountain.

We are so thankful, Lord, that you've removed obstacles.

You've cleared paths just so that we can be here.

We thank you for what you've done thus far.

And Lord, as we prepare to leave, we just want to praise you for what you will do when we get down this mountain.

We know, Lord, that your power wants to remain with us and it doesn't want to wane, it doesn't want to wear out.

Oh, Lord, open our ears today that we may hear.

Of everything that we've learned, Lord, let us not forget.

I praise you, Lord, for speaking through me even now.

Thank you, Father, for hearing the desires of our hearts and answering according to the multitude of your mercies and according to your loving kindness.

I praise the Lord of how he organizes messages with his people.

And the reason why I say that is because the messages this week, I don't know if you've noticed, but they all kind of come together with a certain theme that I believe God is wanting to impress his people on.

And that is to reveal the character of Christ.

And there's nothing better than we can do, but to reveal the character of Christ.

And so this morning's message is going to be a culmination in many ways of what you've heard already.

Because even though we have memory to remember, if you're like me, we forget.

And the Lord repeats Himself the same things over and over because He wants us to know that, hey, this is important and it should be priority.

1 Samuel chapter 27 beginning with verse 1.

The Bible says, and David said in his heart, I shall now perish 1 day by the hand of Saul.

There is nothing better for me that I should speedily escape into the land of the Philistines.

And Saul shall despair of me to seek me any more in any coast of Israel.

And David arose, and he passed over with 600 men that were with him, unto Achish the son of Maok, king of Gath, verse 5.

And David said unto Akish, if I have now found grace in thine eyes, let them give me a place in some town in the country that I may dwell there.

For why should thy servant dwell in the royal city with thee?

Wherefore, Ziklag pertaineth unto the kings of Judah unto this day.

And the time that David dwelt in the country of the Philistines was a full year and 4 months.

Verse 12, And Akish believed David, saying, He hath made his people Israel utterly to abhor him.

Therefore he shall be my servant forever." This is 1 of the saddest chapters in the story of David for me.

Here you see David, and I can picture David walking with his head down.

He is worn out from being pursued relentlessly by Saul.

Worn out so much that he says, there's nothing better for me to do than to seek aid from my first enemy.

And so he goes to the king of Gath, and out of all cities he ends up going to Gath, seeking aid from his enemy, weary, defeated, and tired.

As I read this chapter, I say, wait a minute, this is not the same David that I was introduced to in the Bible.

This is a David who has lost his fire that he once had.

Let's remember this on fire, Holy Ghost filled brother of the Lord.

I mean, David was pumped up when he first came on the scene.

First Samuel chapter 17, let's just remember who David really was.

He was newly anointed by the Holy Ghost in First Samuel 16.

First Samuel 17, he visits his brethren at the battlefield, and he hears the bellowing challenge of Goliath of Gath.

And what stuns David is not the giant, it's the lack of activity of Israel.

He's sitting around like, wait a minute, why is nobody moving and fighting this guy?

And then he himself, so full of zeal and faith in the Lord, I mean, this brother's on fire, he literally just came down from SWIC off the mountain.

He's pumped up, Can't believe the inaction in the church.

And he's like, wait a minute, I'll do what the Lord has called all of us to do.

Chapter 17, 1 Samuel, verse 45, Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield.

But I come to thee in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.

This day will the Lord deliver thee into mine hand, and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee, and I will give the carcasses of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air and to the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.

And all this assembly shall know that the Lord saveth not with sword and spear, for the battle is the Lord's, and he will give you into our hands.

And it came to pass when the Philistine arose and came and drew nigh to meet David, that David did what everyone?
