Much More Than This

Today I just want to share just a little bit about what's going on there in Indonesia, if that's okay, and then have just a little message to give as well.

But first let me just explain what is happening there in Indonesia.

First of all, We have, what we do there is we train Bible workers and canvassers.

Has anyone done Bible working or canvassing before?

There's 1 particular day, we had 2 of our Bible workers canvassers going out and they were, every day they also, they stopped at this local restaurant or a little restaurant to eat every day that they were in the area.

And this 1 day they went and the woman said, you know, the police are looking for you too.

And they were saying, looking for us, you know why?

But they said not only that, it wasn't just you 2, but there was a third 1 with you.

And they said a third 1 is like, have you ever seen us with more than just me and my partner?

Not only was there just 3 of them, but they also said that all 3 of you were wearing white robes.

So God is doing wonderful things there in Indonesia.

There's a population of 250 million people there.

I think it's the fourth largest populated country.

So there's millions that have never heard the good news that we have.

But what is needed, though, is many qualified leaders needed to lead the many small group Bible studies, and many people to be able to receive the training in order to go out to their home communities and be able to share the good news that we have.

So this is why we believe Indonesia AFCO is essential there because it gives them the tools needed to be able to go to their locations, to be able to systematically do evangelism, do a practical, concise, and equips people to be able to reach the people there.

Here's another experience that just took place here.

We had 2 other Bible workers going out, and they came to another restaurant, and they asked a lady there, can we pray with you?

And the woman said, yes, please pray with me.

In fact, I want my granddaughter to come here too.

And so they invited Kirsten to come and pray as well.

And at the end of the prayer, she was in tears.

She said, you know, I left being a Christian.

But after I married my sweetheart from high school, that I left the religion of Christianity, but I want to become a Christian again.

Can you help me to become a Christian again?

And they were able to share with her the gospel, and then she'd been doing Bible studies and going to the seminars.

Now Ramlan, before Amazing Facts became Amazing Facts in Indonesia, we were working under the name of Akra Zaman, which mainly did cold porting.

In fact, my wife and I, we went there and helped them with that work about 2 years ago.

So we've been there off and on for about 2 years now.

And Ramlan was 1 of our first students that we had in the canvassing work.

And this 1 day, my wife was working with Ramlan and was going to the house.

Now if you're canvassing in Indonesia you have to have health books to help you start your ice breaker to be able to let them know what you're doing.

And so here they had no health books but they had great controversy, They had a marriage book.

And so as they were going, they came to this house and they saw that it was a Islam house.

So they opened up with a great controversy.

And the man was like, you know, I don't want this and he throws the book.

Now has anyone, who's done cold porting before?

Now if you had someone throw your book, what would you think?

And they, my wife was okay and the Ramla says, you know, you're Islam, right?

And they started explaining the similarities between Islam and Adventist as far as the dietary, the not eating pork and not drinking alcohol, etc.

And he says, okay, so he picks the book up again.

And still you can see in his face that he was not happy that they were at their door.

And my wife is praying earnestly and is hoping that you know God would change his heart and then Ramalan again shared, said you know this book will prepare us for judgment for when the Messiah comes back because they believe in the Messiah as well.

And he says okay and then all of a sudden his face changed and he picked up the book a third time and he says you know what I need this book.

I need to be ready for when the Messiah comes back, for when Jesus comes back.

And so praise the Lord, the man was able, he surrendered himself, he surrendered to the Lord.

It means cease resistance to an enemy or opponent and submit to their authority.

And so when you cease resistance to an enemy and you submit to them, you surrender.

And I think that's something that we do as well when we need to surrender to the Lord always and resist to him and cease to him.

I want us to look at an example in the Bible, though, of someone that God wanted them to have a complete surrender.

And then I'll talk a little bit more about amazing facts at the end.

Let's take a look at 2 Chronicles in chapter 25 if we could.

And as we're turning there, James White, I think, is there Any historians here?

He was, who knew that he was blind or he had crossed eyes, his eyes were crossed so badly he could not see when he was younger?

In fact, he had this problem up until he was at the age of 19.

And then all of a sudden, as he was starting to improve physically, his eyesight became better.

And at that time, he says, you know what?

I want to be able to be a teacher and to be able to share education with people.

And so James White, when he, once his eyes became better, he went to school and in 12 weeks he learned enough in order to be able to be a teacher in an elementary school.

Shortly after he obtained his education, he started to teach and he went and heard about the Millerite movement and about Jesus coming back again soon and there was a struggle inside of him and a voice kept on coming to his mind and says, go and share this with your scholars.

Go and tell them about the soon coming of Jesus.

Eventually, 1 time as he was looking at his notes, preparing for his class, the thought came and he could not remember anything and so he said, alright fine Lord, I will share with my scholars.

And because of that result, it started him on a preaching tour for a couple of months and a thousand people ended up giving their life to Jesus because of that 1 surrender that he made to advance the gospel.
