We're a little late starting, but I need to share a few things before we get started.

I've had the privilege in the last few years of having the Lord bring to me helpers to do things that I wasn't able to do.

Doug Plata, who developed a website for me, and you see that website is presented here.

And it's been a while since I've seen Dr.

Plata, but he's here today and I'm grateful for it.

Henry has been working with me for the last 3 years, videoing all of my messages.

He has gone with me as far as the border of Canada, not quite into Canada, but up in the northern Washington from California.

He's traveled with me a number of places, including to Europe.

You will find at the close of this will be an indication of how you find the messages that he has been putting on YouTube, because I imagine that there are over 200 by this time.

But I have 1 other thing I want to refer to.

How many of you were at the message this morning for the 11 o'clock service?

How Many of you realized how important that message was.

Did you sense that this was a unique and urgent message?

That message, by the way, is a message that we need to understand.

I wish that he had had another period of time to develop it further.

But as I begin my presentation this afternoon, I want to begin where he left off, because it was extremely important message.

This thing is not, I'm not getting any sound.

That message was a message that we must understand and respond to in order for us to have any hope of becoming involved in the latter rain.

God gave us a message and it is true that we have allowed counterfeit messages to neutralize our message by directing our attention away from the sanctuary and its literal, I mean its spiritual dimensions.

It is through the sanctuary that we must understand the gospel, and that is what we will be talking about.

We'll be dealing with Romans 5, which is a key passage.

But unless we understand the gospel in the light of the sanctuary, we don't understand the gospel.

The sanctuary was given, actually, in initial form to our patriarchal fathers, Adam and Seth, and all the way down by a simple altar in which the Lamb was slain.

And later, when Israel became a nation, God gave them a national sanctuary for the whole nation to come together.

The patriarchal altar had to do with the families.

The different families would come, and it was not necessary for an extensive pattern.

But when the sanctuary service was given, God placed in the symbolic services, the various principles that were essential to salvation.

And I would like to say now that what happened was really before the 1960s, and he mentioned 1960 I think this morning, 78 I think in particular he mentioned, but when we became involved in discussion with Martin and Barnhouse in 1950s, 1955 and so forth.

We had a great opportunity to present the gospel.

The problem is that several years before, Satan began stimulating our intellectual leaders to make some changes.

We were eager to be accepted as a Christian church.

In order to do that, we had to conform with certain basic fundamental requirements of evangelical thought.

Now, it was not the intent of anyone to change their doctrine.

The fact is, what they did was to accept a different methodology of approaching the gospel, which changed the gospel.

Now I have a book at the Weimar booth dealing with the issue of questions on doctrines, questions on doctrines revisited, which book deals with the various issues, and I must say that I was not able, through that period of time, it was this period of time that my youthful development took place in my theological development as a result of the various things that were happening and the changes of focus.

Now what I want to say is that I demonstrate in my review of that book, Questions on Doctrines, I demonstrate the fact that neither side in the conflict was right.

And neither 1 was listening to the other.

If there had been a true priesthood, a believer approach in which we came together on our knees humbling ourselves before 1 another, God could have led us to a more intense understanding of his plan.

And Instead, we became bogged down in intense conflict in which the Holy Spirit was not able to leave because our attitudes toward 1 another were not conducive to the Holy Spirit's direction.

But I would like to say that before we are able to present the latter rain message, we must first go back to 1888 where our real problem started in the rejection of the Minneapolis message.

Now I have not been able to focus directly on that, but I have been sharing with you in the process of sharing my own experience, the principles that were presented there, and those principles are very simple.

And it primarily, the main focus is that Christ is our righteousness, the only righteousness by which we can pass the judgment.

His righteousness is a perfect righteousness, but in order to receive that righteousness, We must both be willing to choose that righteousness which is his character, and we must choose to live our lives according to his character.

And in order to receive his righteousness, it must be done honestly.

This requires submission, submission to God's will, to God's word.

And for us to cease, It is wonderful, by the way, to try to be understood by our Christian brethren.

We need to do that, and our brethren were attempting to do just that.

But we must not be so eager that we seek to mimic what they're saying and doing to assure them that we are Christian.

In other words, at no point can we compromise God's message and still be able to proclaim it.

If we compromise it, then we have a different message.

And what he didn't discuss, he mentioned that many people are outer court, have an outer court theology.

And that is where the evangelical world is.

Their whole focus is on the cross and they have no concept and no insights regarding the sanctuary ministry of Christ, which is portrayed in the holy place.

Now the Roman Catholic Church, by the way, as he pointed out this morning, become holy place centered.

Basically, it doesn't mean a holy place centered at all, but what it really means is that their focus is on developing a Christian character, but their concept of how to develop the character is through the church and its sacraments.

And the concept is that those sacraments bring us merit and they prepare us so that we are able to prepare ourselves for the kingdom.

The fact is that Adventist message is centered on the most holy place, which is connected.

And if these are not all connected, then we don't have the message.

Connected to justification, which must be an honest commitment of our sins to Christ and acceptance of his righteousness for our lives.

Not a theory, but an experience in which we seek to be like Christ and which we claim by faith his responsibility to live out his life within us.

After justification, we must continue on by connection with Christ and it is Christ's connection with us that takes place at justification that permits us to grow by reading his word and by accepting the altar of incense symbolic of the merits of Christ, not the merits of our own.

So the holy place should not be considered as a source of legalism.

If it is, it's because we're not seeing that in the light of the continuing justification.

Justification is not simply for past sins.

Justification is something we have to experience every day because our natures are selfish.

But we can claim Christ's presence through the Holy Spirit and His power to live according to His principles.

The Most Holy Place represents that process by which the continual, the Holy Place is called all the way through scripture, the continual.

Every day, 24 hours a day, his salvation is available to us.

We can claim it anytime, but the time is coming when it will no longer be available And the most holy place is what teaches us how to prepare for the time when Christ will leave his ministerial work in the sanctuary and prepare to come to this earth.

Now, Brothers and sisters, our message is a whole message, the whole sanctuary message.

Because we have not retained a clear understanding of it, we cannot have the experience of it.

And it is by faith in every step, faith in Christ's death for our sins, faith in his willingness and actuality of giving us his righteousness, and claiming that righteousness, that he might work that out in our lives, making us both willing and able to do of his good pleasure.

Now with this in mind, I want to present the message that I had planned for you.

The meeting before was late, and then we had some other delays.

But we will proceed with a discussion of Romans.

Now, Romans is central to the evangelical view of the gospel, and the chapter 5 is especially central to their view.

And we're going to begin with verse 18, because it's a mistranslation of verse 18 that the evangelical world today bases their view of the gospel.

And we will discuss this as a part, in other words, in the context of our message this morning about the sanctuary.
