Our loving Heavenly Father we come once again before your throne knowing that our prayers are heard because we come boldly in the name of Jesus.

We thank you Father that we do have Jesus as our intercessor, that we can come boldly to the throne of grace knowing that our sins will be forgiven and also that we will receive power from on high to overcome in our daily lives.

Father as we take a look just a glimpse at what heaven and the new earth will be like we ask father that you will instill in our hearts that longing desire to be there when Jesus comes.

We ask that you will bless us in our study today and we thank you for hearing our prayer for we ask it in Jesus name, Amen.

As I mentioned in my prayer today we are going to talk about something very practical.

This is lecture number 32 in the series on the Hebrew sanctuary.

And I decided that the last lecture would deal with what life will be like in heaven during the thousand years and ultimately on the earth made new once sin comes to an end.

Now the first thing that I would like to say is that when Jesus comes, he will be the real Jesus, and he will take us to a real place.

I'd like to begin by reading Acts chapter 1 and verses 9 through 11 Acts chapter 1 verses 9 through 11, and as you're looking for that passage I'd like to ask you, when Jesus resurrected did Jesus have a real human body.

He most certainly did when his disciples saw it thought they were seeing a ghost.

He said a ghost does not have flesh and bones like you see that I have.

And when he met Thomas a week later he said to Thomas put your finger here in my wounds in my hands and in my side it is I.

So when Jesus resurrected He had a real genuine human body.

Of course it was a glorified body, it was an incorruptible body and an immortal body, he had his resurrection body in other words.

Now notice Acts chapter 1 verses 9 through 11.

Now when he had spoken these things, while they watched, he was taken up, and a cloud received him out of their sight.

That is out of the sight of the disciples.

And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven, as he went up, behold, 2 men stood by them in white apparel.

See in the Bible sometimes angels are called men.

So it says 2 men stood by them in white apparel, see in the Bible sometimes angels are called men, in other words they're beings, so it says 2 men stood by them in white apparel, who also said, Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven?

This same Jesus who was taken up from you into heaven will so come in like manner as you saw him go to heaven.

So when Jesus comes again is he going to come as a human being?

He most certainly is a real flesh-and-blood human being and he is going to take us to a real genuine place which of course we call heaven.

Now I'd like to go through several things that will characterize the future life.

Some people ask the question, will we know our friends and relatives who are saved in that day, will we recognize them?

The fact is the Bible affirms that we will.

Notice 1st Corinthians chapter 13 and verse 12 1st Corinthians chapter 13 and verse 12.

Here the Apostle Paul says, For now, that is in the present day, now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face.

Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.

So I'm going to know and I am going to be known.

People are going to know that this is Pastor Bohr and I am going to know that that is Rick Shepherd because the Bible tells us that we will recognize people when Jesus comes.

Now let's notice a few things about what the future life is going to be like, Some of these apply to heaven and some of these apply to the new earth.

Go with me to Isaiah 65 and verse 17, Isaiah chapter 65 and verse 17.

Here we have a wonderful promise and it's repeated by the way in the book of Revelation as well in the New Testament.

It says here, For behold, I create new heavens and a new earth, and the former shall not be remembered or come to mind.

What does God promise that He's going to do?

He's going to make a new heaven and a new earth, and the former things, all of the struggles and the difficulties of life will not come to mind.

The Bible also tells us that in the future life everyone will be vegetarians including the wild animals.

Notice Isaiah chapter 11 and verses 6 through 9, Isaiah 11 and verses 6 through 9.

This is a beautiful promise, I don't know if you look forward to the day when you'll be able to pet a lion and you'll be able to pet a tiger, I look forward to those days and play with snakes, with poisonous snakes and not have them kill you.

The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb, the leopard shall lie down with the young goat, The calf and the young lion and the fatling together, and a little child shall lead them.

The cow and the lion, now notice this, shall eat straw like the ox.

But that was the original diet of the animals before death came into the world.

The nursing child shall play by the cobra's hole, and the weaned child shall put his hand in the viper's den.

They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain.

And then it gives the reason why, why won't they hurt?

For the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.

So what is the reason why there will be no ravenous beasts and there will be no poisonous snakes there?

For the simple reason that the earth is going to be full of the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea.

Notice Isaiah 35 verses 1, 2 and verse 7, these verses tell us that there will be no deserts or parched land in the earth made new, and obviously they won't exist in heaven as well.

The wilderness and the wasteland shall be glad for them, and the desert shall rejoice and blossom as the rose.

It shall blossom abundantly and rejoice, even with joy and singing.

And then it says the glory of Lebanon shall be given to it.

Lebanon is a very beautiful place in biblical times and so the glory of the new earth is being compared to Lebanon.

So it says the glory of Lebanon shall be given to it, the excellence of Carmel and Sharon, also beautiful places in the Holy Land.

They shall see the glory of the Lord, the excellency of our God.

The Bible also tells us that there will be no physical defects or disease in heaven or in the earth made new.

The medical doctors will be out of a job and there will be no exorbitant fees for medical procedures and for hospital charges.

Notice what we find here in Isaiah 35 and verses 3 through 6.

Strengthen the weak hands and make firm the feeble knees.

Say to those who are fearful hearted, be strong, do not fear.

Behold, your God will come with vengeance, with the recompense of God.

And then notice verse 5 it says, Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.

Then the lame shall leap like a deer, and the tongue of the dumb sing.

For water shall burst forth in the wilderness, and streams in the desert.

Isn't that a beautiful description of how all physical defects will disappear when Jesus comes.

The Bible also tells us that there's not going to be any sorrow, suffering, pain, or tears in heaven or in the earth made new.

He will swallow up death forever, and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces.

This is repeated in Revelation 21 verse 4 by the way.

The rebuke of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the Lord has spoken.

And then verse 9 is a much quoted verse it says, and it will be said in that day, behold this is our God we have waited for Him and He will save us.

We will be glad and rejoice in His salvation.

As I mentioned a portion of these verses are quoted in the book of Revelation chapter 21 and verse 4, let's go there for a moment, Revelation chapter 21 and verse 4.

It says here, And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.

There shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying.

There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.

The Bible tells us that God's people will sing for joy, will be able to join the heavenly choir.

Notice what we find in Isaiah 35 and verse 10, Isaiah 35 and verse 10.

This also is a much quoted verse it says, And the ransomed of the Lord shall return, and come to Zion with singing, with everlasting joy on their heads, they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

These are just some of the promises that the Bible gives about what heaven is going to be like and what life on the new earth will be like.

Now let's talk a little bit about the capital of the universe which is the New Jerusalem, the holy city.

Go with me to Hebrews chapter 11 and we're going to read verse 10 and then verse 14 and verse 16.

It's speaking here about Abraham, and notice that Abraham was not looking forward to that city over in the Middle East to old Jerusalem.

Now Abraham and the heroes of Hebrews chapter 11 were not looking to that city over there in the Middle East where there's so much turmoil.
