A Brand New Spark

Father in heaven, thank you for this morning.

And thank you, Lord, for the trials that come our way, even with difficult sound systems.

We thank you, Jesus, that the Word of God has gone.

And Lord, even when our voices fail, your voice will still speak.

And so, Jesus, we pray you would take us as we are and you would bless us and that you would fill us with the Holy Spirit and that You would give us a good plan for this year and you would set us off, right?

Thank you Jesus for hearing our prayer in your holy name.

We pray amen Well, the name of the sermon is called a brand new spark a brand new spark by the way if you do need some Seating we do have some seating over here or some up here in the front.

I try to direct everything right down the middle.

Well, I'm really excited about this morning's message because I believe that God wants to set us in the right direction.

2012 has ended and now 2013 has just started.

And I love the beginning of New Year's because it's a time to think about resolution It's the time to think about what the future holds about the potential the things that could be accomplished by the end of 2013 Well, let me tell you something.

And I've come to the conclusion, and I learn this conclusion every time.

And the conclusion is, I need God more in my life than I've ever needed Him before.

As we're going about these end times, it's extremely important that we are growing in our walk with Jesus and we are being prepared for the things that are coming our way.

Because it's not about storing things in your bunker, it's not about prepping, it's about being faithful to God because God alone will keep us safe in these times amen I'm so excited about 2013 because we have a lot of things planned and do you guys remember the the theme for this year?

The year of the kingdom that's exactly right.

It's about kingdom life kingdom focus and it's gonna be an exciting time where we talk about the kingdom of God because our time here on earth and God is preparing us to be citizens of that kingdom.

There's gonna be no foreigners in heaven Amen The time to be part of God's kingdom is now the time to learn about God's kingdom is now God wants us to understand what kingdom life is all about.

In fact, what's so interesting is when you study the scriptures, Jesus never mentioned a physical description of heaven.

He did not mention the physical description of heaven.

He did not talk about the beauty of heaven now Do you believe heaven is beautiful yes or no?

He rather talked about the behavior of heaven Why because Jesus understood something Then you're not going to heaven unless you're fit for heaven.

Because if God was to take you into heaven just as you are and steps to Christ, backs us up, it would be like hell to you.

And God doesn't want you to have eternal hellfire.

Amen and Folks this is extremely important as we go about this year in the year of the kingdom We have a lot of things planned we have in February our evangelistic series a prophecy seminar And if you haven't been part of our prophecy seminars, they're unlike other prophecy seminars These are very special prophecy seminars now How many people here are here today because of a prophecy seminar that we did in our church raise your hand Amen, amen and folks.

Here's the exciting thing is that we want everyone involved.

It's going to be a time for you to be part of it and participate in the tabletop discussion.

We also are going to be doing some special things.

We're going to be having a 5K run at the end of January.

Okay, now the majority of you should be raising your hand.

As Seventh-Day Adventists, we are called to be healthy.

And so this is gonna be an exciting time to invite the community out.

Elsie Perkins has agreed to this, and I'm excited about this.

Because the 5K, a lot of people come out, and we're gonna be able to just connect with them and connect with our community.

In addition, we're gonna be talking about Some of the various things that we're gonna be doing with our evangelistic series.

We're gonna have some follow-up We're gonna try and I talked about this I think 2 weeks ago showing the movie hell and mr.

Fudge Now that's a quite an unusual title But It's a movie that was made by Seventh-day Adventist and it's the story of a lawyer who was actually hired to study out hellfire And he came to the same exact conclusions as Adventist and it's what the Bible teaches And so I'm gonna actually show you this trailer right now.

Okay, I'm going to show you this trailer right now, but I want you to see something real quick.

Now again, what's so amazing about this, this was made by Seventh-day Adventist, And it's a very interesting story.

It's the story of a lawyer who was an Adventist who was hired to study out this topic And came to the exact same conclusions exactly what the Bible teaches now What's so remarkable is that right now in evangelical Christianity?

There is a debate about hell whether or not hell is eternal And this is a very important time for Seventh-day Adventists to come in and say wait a second Let's show what the Bible is teaching Because when you understand the great truth that you don't get to heaven by simply being afraid of hell But you get to heaven because you want to be in heaven all of a sudden your motivation for following Jesus is a million times greater.

Can you say amen to that and Folks this is going to be exciting time and it's important for Seventh-day Adventists to capitalize on this.

And so I'm asking something as pastor of Series SDA and it's this.

It's going to cost a little bit of money to rent out a hall.

And we're thinking about a possible 1 day rental of the State Theater where they show independent films.

And just to show this, to invite the entire community to come out, and then we'll do a question-and-answer session.

Afterwards, we'll give them our Evangelistic series flyers and some glow.

And so this is going to be a very remarkable time.

I mean, it is just, it sounds like a movie you want to see, right?

Again, it's going to cost about $1200 to $1300, I think, to rent out this place.

So if you want to see this happen folks It's going to be very important that we're willing to contribute to this I'm willing to contribute to this too Just to see this happen the idea that people may begin to know what the bible is teaching about this subject is extremely important, like never before.

So if you're interested in being part of this project, you can mark a tied envelope and just mark it Mr.

And by God's grace, we'll show this probably a weekend before the evangelistic series and it's going to be exciting to see different people come out and have questions about this topic.

Well I actually went on to a website that was talking about this health fire topic and I want you to see something very interesting, okay?

There was a survey that was done about health and this is what what the results were.

40% believe that God is eternally torturing people in hell even as we speak.

17% believe in universalism, in other words the idea that everyone's just going to be saved.

But think about that, only 10% actually believe in annihilation, that when God finally destroys the wicked he completely blocks them out Now when I was looking at this survey it dawned on me that most people are unaware of what the Bible is actually teaching about this subject And that's why it's extremely important at Seventh-day Adventist.

And the year of the kingdom requires aggressive, aggressive evangelism.

Look what the Bible says in Matthew chapter 11 verse 12.

From the days of John the Baptist until now the what the kingdom of heaven suffers violence now this wasn't talking about persecution and The violent take it by force the Bible is describing that with John the Baptist with this great reformer began this time of aggressive evangelism.

So this is not talking about violence in the negative aspect, it's rather talking about violence as far as being aggressive in preaching the gospel.

When John the Baptist showed up, he began a revolution of preachers like there has never been before and God calls us to continue this all the way until the second coming Can you say amen to that and so if you're interested in being part of this?

And this is going to be a time to invite people out.

So, why don't we get started with our message today.
