Biblical Love, Marriage, and Relationships - Part 1

Biblical love, marriage and relationships.

And I want to just throw this out to you just so that you all know.

This subject of love, marriage and relationship is inexhaustible.

And so my two-part presentation today and tomorrow morning is not even comprehensive enough to scratch the surface on this subject of biblical love, marriage and relationships.

And so I want to do my best by just gleaning principles from the Bible and the inspired writings on this subject of biblical love, marriage and relationships.

We are told that the subject of the love of God will be a subject that we will study for all of eternity.

We're also told in the book Adventist Home that when 1 enters into a marriage, they enter into a school that they will never graduate in this life.

So this subject of love, marriage, and relationships is inexhaustible.

And so if you have questions, if you have questions, practical questions on love, marriage, and relationship, And if it's of a nature that you need guidance, if it's of a nature that you're concerned or you're confused about, you know, these are anonymous and you don't have to write your name down.

I will try to answer it to the best of my ability.

Before we begin, let's bow our heads for a word of prayer.

Eternal loving Father, once again, we ask for your Holy Spirit to guide us and to lead us.

This is our prayer in Jesus' name we pray, amen.

My whole underlying motive, my whole underlying thrust of Tonight and tomorrow is to draw us closer in understanding the love of God The love of God the love of who Now why why is my thrust and why is my implication or the direction of my presentation pointing us towards the love of God?

Our concept, listen now, our concept of love is perverted.

Our concept and our idea of love is defiled.

Therefore, we need to study and we need to gravitate and learn more of the love of God, because by understanding the love of God, our human love, our concept of love will be refined and ennobled.

And so the problem with a lot of marriages that I counsel, the problem with a lot of marriages is that couples come into this idea of a holy matrimony with a messed up, defiled concept of love.

Are you with me this afternoon, this evening?

That's the whole premise is because Hollywood and this book and that novel has messed up their mind with this understanding of love.

So they come into marriage with a defiled and a messed up concept of love.

We need to learn more of His love and by understanding and experiencing more of His love, our love is better refined and ennobled.

So I hope and I pray that our presentation today and tomorrow will lead us to this idea of, to this godly, godly agape love.

How many of you are married here in this room?

How many of you are looking forward to be married?

Marriage, marriage is a spiritual relationship between 2 people, not just a physical 1.

The Bible teaches us marriage is a spiritual relationship between 2 people, not just a physical 1.

The Bible teaches us, marriage is a spiritual relationship between 2 people, not just a physical 1.

Therefore, in order to have a successful marriage, in order to have a marriage that's successful, we need to use some of the same principles that's needed in order to have a successful relationship with Jesus apply to our spiritual relationship with our spouse.

Because marriage is a spiritual relationship.

The same principles that we use between spouse A and spouse B in order for it to be successful, are usually the same principles that's needed in order for a sinner to be successful in their relationship with Jesus Christ.

Therefore, the marriage relationship should parallel our relationship with Jesus Christ.

You see, in order to have a successful relationship with Jesus Christ, you need to be submissive and you need to change.

In order to have a happy successful relationship, a marriage, both parties need to be submissive and willing to change.

In our relationship with Jesus Christ, there's no such thing when it comes to God as lip service.

There will be many in the last day who will come to Him, Lord, Lord, did we not do these things?

And 1 of the most saddest words that will fall from the lips of Jesus, depart from me for You never knew me.

Lip service does not work in our relationship with Jesus Christ.

Now we parallel that with our relationship with our spouses.

You can say, honey I love you till the cows come home, but if your actions are not consistent with your words, that marriage will not succeed.

So again I'm bringing out the point that marriage is a spiritual relationship and some of the same principles that's needed in order to have a successful relationship with Jesus Christ are the same principles that's needed in order to have a successful marriage.

And the Bible makes it very clear that 1 of the prerequisites of marriage is marrying someone of the same spiritual dimension.

Thus the question for those of you who are not yet married yet and are contemplating marriage.

The number 1 question, the first question you should ask yourself is, will this person help me get into heaven?

That is the very first question that 1 should ask before, and I underscore the word before.

Will this person help me get into heaven?

As a matter of fact, we're even told that we should ask the question, does this person love Jesus more than me?

In my counseling with young couples, I often tell them, you know, I say, look, show me someone who has a committed, ongoing relationship with Jesus Christ through His Word, and I'll show you someone who will make a good spouse.

Show me someone who's committed to Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and they have the transforming fruits in their lives and I'll show you someone who will make a good spouse.

Because the same spiritual principles that's needed in order to have a successful relationship with Jesus are the same spiritual principles that's needed in order to have a successful marriage.

The first question we ought to ask is, will this person help me get into heaven?

Now let me get straight into my point here.

Well, there's more that we can learn from the sanctuary besides 1844.

There are 3 compartments of the sanctuary.

And when we, when we, And I'm just going to allude to this.

The sanctuary actually teaches us about how to choose a spouse.

Now notice the progression of the Christian life.

The progression of the Christian life begins at the gate and moves his way, the sinner, towards the holy presence of God in the most holy place, the Shekinah glory, where the high priest has the intimate privilege of being in the presence of God.
