The Ignition

I just feel the need to pray before we say anything else.

So let's bow our heads and let's ask Jesus to bless us with the Holy Spirit.

Father, we just thank you because you are our rock.

And Lord, while the whole world around us falls apart, We just thank you God that we have an anchor in you.

Father we pray that we would never leave your proximity and God we ask that you would bless this sermon.

May the Holy Spirit be present as we begin this brand new year with you.

Jesus we pray you would lift our burdens and we pray for the present blessing in your precious name Jesus Christ we ask all these things.

It's like we don't even take a breath, ladies and gentlemen.

As soon as 2013 is down, going down, we're just like, all of a sudden 2014 has already begun.

And it's like we just hit the ground running no time to rest You know, I just came back from Orlando, Florida.

I was at this conference and I preached 7 times and let me tell you something I have never been as worn out as I've been with this conference I mean this 1 really wore me out see 7 times and that's 7 hours of talking Okay, I know some of you have that gift, but I don't And so when when I was done with this seminar, I mean I was just tired came here Monday morning but there was just so much to do.

He is so busy, and we need to be about His work.

You know, this is a brand new year, and a lot of people like to set resolutions.

I asked this last year, I'm going to ask this again.

How many people here have set New Year's resolutions?

So the rest of you guys aren't planning anything new with this brand new year I think you guys are the wiser bunch but ladies and gentlemen I'd ask you a question right now if you were going to set a New Year's resolution or if you have set a New Year's resolution what is that resolution please raise your hand I'd like to hear something really good.

He wakes up in the morning and spends at least 15 to 30 minutes with Jesus in the Bible.

Your New Year's resolution is to have promises you don't keep.

Nobody else has any New Year's resolutions?

You want to paint a Jesus painting for this brand new year.

You want to be judgmental Or you want to stop being judgmental?

How about you learn a new language that's awesome anybody else yes how about you Tom okay okay Wow very good Lord bless you how about you learn and practice good health Those are all great resolutions Miguel you got something Amen, praise the Lord.

Those are all good resolutions great resolutions.

And you know what ladies and gentlemen God wants us to Resolutions he wants us to have good decision-making now We don't always have to wait till the beginning of the year to do these things But every day in our lives we should be making good decisions I know some of us sometimes Feel like you know what I have tried making good decisions in my life, and I feel like I can't change You ever been at that point ladies and gentlemen when you felt like you were just like okay God I have tried over and over and over and over again.

Well God wants us to understand something.

The very first step in changing, ladies and gentlemen, is simply to make a decision.

Now the power will come from Jesus if we consent to do His will.

He will give us strength to do these things.

You know, this whole world is looking for change everybody in for some kind of Transformation that's why 1 of the biggest sellers in the bookstore is the self-help section and there's so many different books about changing this or changing this in your lifestyle or transforming this and People are looking for something that can truly change who they really are Now God is calling us in this journey of life into a journey of holiness To follow him To grow more and more the Bible says something very remarkable in 1st Corinthians chapter 4 verse 9 look what it says right here for We have been made a what?

A what a spectacle to the who The world both who to angels and to what?

Men you're speaking something very powerful.

Don't miss this point ladies and gentlemen.

He says we are a spectacle to this whole world.

Not just to men ladies and gentlemen, but to who?

Obviously this world, the word world is probably the word cosmos in Greek, and it's not applying to our world, but it's applying to this entire universe.

A universe that is full of unfallen worlds that are watching this very planet.

Now what's so unique about the word spectacle, it's the Greek word theatron where you get this word amphitheater or Coliseum and It comes from that Roman word that has to do when people are seated in the amphitheater and they are watching something in the middle of the floor over there, in the platform.

And often times during those Roman times when Paul was living, he would sometimes be a spectator to these very things.

You go to the Coliseum and you would see chariot races and all the spectators would be watching to see what would take place.
